Picked Brian/The Brain up this morning - now renamed Layton - took him for a humongously long walk on the way home to see how he was around the world and he's fine! Think he might have lived with cats since he tries to bury his poo like they do - and he's completely ignored mogball who's stood her ground like a champ although we're keeping them fairly well segregated in living room and kitchen until we're 100% sure.

  • yay! I'm so happy for you and loigged on just to see if you'd picked him up!

He has found a lovely home now and I wish you many many happy years of companionship together xxx

BTW just to keep this moneysaving (!) I wanted to remind you that the vat goes on on the 4th of this month so make sure you've got enough dog food! I surfed the net today to check out prices of dog food (via quidco of course!) to work out which is cheapest and got a deal on 2 bags of 15kg food which soul dkeep us going for a while.

Give Brian aka Layton a big kiss from his aunty dh and hope he settles in xxx :)

Awww! We've just been down the canal towpath before it got dark (lovely towpath - shame about the hill to get to it) and he was an angel. He's obsessed with my husband though!

He didn't even react to the hissing ball of wrath on the windowsill stirring things up a load!

  • I wonder if there is such a thing as a 'honeymoon period' for rescue dogs? I feel mine is sussing us out and being impeccably behaved! I cant believe how good she is! Is Layton behaving dizziblonde? Maybe they are just glad to have found a nice place to live... :)

Anyone who claims three legged cats can't climb is a liar - had to retrive the furball from the top of the curtains! Now we're at the stage where the cat will sit at one end of the room and the dog on a lead at the other - dog oblivious, cat furious!

  • nice one! I expect the cat will get used to him eventually :)

Yes there often is a 'honeymoon' time. On the other hand, she may just be a good dog!!!

He's been utterly angelic all night - slept in his basket in the kitchen (cos we can't let him have the run of the house overnight yet until the C-A-T comes around and stops sulking... dog's fine, mog's being a first class primadonna!), didn't hear a peep from him despite us sleeping on the sofas in case he whined or needed to get out for the toilet overnight (the layout of our house makes it hard to hear the kitchen from our bedroom - might have to look at a baby monitor or something)... just been in to give morning pee and breakfast before we take him out for a quick walk (and to the park later!) and nearly been bowled over by a wagging tail!

He's hilarious though - he's not very good at all his different commands so tends to err on the side of "they like me doing sit, I'm good at sit, if they say anything to me in a tone of voice that sounds like they're expecting something from me I'll sit and see if they like that" - it's really funny - and someone in the past has taught him to lie down meaning flop sideways, legs in air, roll all the way over then untangle yourself from your lead by offering two paws up in the air for someone to do it for him... that one caused some hilarity yesterday - if you were in the park - the dog wasn't in fact dead with four legs in the air and us two collapsing into fits of laughter at how stupid he looks - honest!

    He don't half pong though!

Sounds to me like your on a winner here, and he the same.

When you say he pongs, is that due to what he passes, or is he in need of a trip to the old beauty parlour for a bit of fur therapy?
That's my mutt in the picture above.
