    Okay!
Went back and found all the lovely posts I wanted to quote!

BTW. Not heard back from Origin yet re. the Coronation Street kit, but it's still early days yet.

I haven't done any 'real' cross-stitch this year, just a little bit on the printed linen one that I mentioned earlier, as I WAS waiting for the Corrie kit to come for me to start on! :(

    Anyways, here goes!

    {I have snipped longer posts to cut down on the length of my reply}

i love those tigers they are beautiful

soulie i dont think i would ever finish one that big lol

    They really are ain't they!
I <3 Tigers sooooo much! I really need to get my two Tiger UFO's finished.
Someone posted a pic of another one way back, which looked AMAZING but is out of my price range at the moment!

hahaha, I don't think I would even START a cross stitch that big, never mind FINISH it lol

Can you imagine doing the backstitch on that HUGE piece??? Arghhhh no way!
Where to hang it, hmmmmm on a really really really big wall maybe hehe

I have totally given up on Noah's Ark for the time being as I can't do anything else without my new frame. But this is how it looks at the moment. First time I've tried to post a photo so I'm hoping it works!

Looks great, and I can't see the mistake neither!

    Hi all

I hope you don't mind me joining you, just found this. I have been cross stitching since I was a kid. I have to young children (5 and 3) so not had much time over the last few years but really hoping to get going again. I live in Inverness, Scotland.

Hi and welcome aboard to you both, you will love it here!
I am pretty new to this thread too, but everyone is really nice and welcoming
    :D

When you've made enough posts, though no-one really knows how many it is, I think I was allowed to post links and pics when I had done about 25 posts and had been a member for a few days {I think it takes in to account how long you are a member and how many posts you have made}, we would loce to see some of your projects!

I love looking at other people's work, and especailly progress pics!

Right, that's me all caught up again!
Hope you all have a great day!
And I hope to hear back from Origin today, with them saying that the Corrie kit is on it's way to me LOL

  • Hiya,

There are some fantastic pieces of work being stitched at the minute, I'm soooo tempted by some of them but my to-do list is far too long to even consider adding any more for now (not sure how long this resistance is going to last).

I have finally managed to start again with the backstitch on the Me to You sampler, my fingers are aching from having to force the needle through random points on the aida. I am probably about a third of the way, so need to keep up the motivation as it needs to be finished within 16 days, I have given up on the idea of having it framed before the wedding. I'm not going to get much stitching done this weekend either as we have the rehearsal and hen do on Sat and Sunday will be spent recovering and with the girls.

I have made a promise to myself that I am not going to start any of my larger projects until I have made some progress on my tigers (the same ones as Soulies). I think this is the only way I am going to have any motivation to do it as I am really excited about some of the kits in my stash.

I am going to make a list of the kits in my stash and post it on here to scare myself!

NYC sounds fab, the revolving bar at top of Marriott Hotel is a lovely way to see the NYC skyline as long as it's not a cloudy evening, although drinks are very expensive. Also if you like musicals like I do then Ellen's Stardust dinner in Time Square is a must. It is staffed by waiters that want to get into broadway and they sing requests for tips while you eat. Food quite reasonable there and excellent atmosphere.

Thanks for the info! Have written it down and put it in with the 'NYC holiday' stuff :D

I have another thing to add to my list 2x birth samplers (d'oh) One due in March (so basically they'll get it April LOL) and one due in um... i think June.

    On another note
My mum has also kindly passed me a couple of kits she doesnt want... they aren't really my thing so I'm going to take some pics tonight as I am happy to pass them on to anyone who hasnt got a challenge or wants one to do as a gift etc...
I'll setup a flickr account or something for people to have a look.

Do you happen to have any pics of it to share? (I speak for us all when I say we're a nosey bunch) :D

Totally recommend getting a frame, I have a clip lap frame and it's great, two handed stitching gets the job done faster plus it stopped my wrist 'clicking' with the constant twisting motion one handed stitching causes.

I will source the pic for you :)

I LOVE the idea of stitching The Great Atuin. with the amazing art done by Kirby(?) i'm surprised on one has made commercially before. I'm reading 'Folklore of the Diskworld' at the moment, then plan on getting back into the series... i'm very very behind!
    :T :T

The Atuin I'm doing as actually a snapshot taken from TV adaptation of The Colour of Magic. I tried seeing if I could do the Paul Kidby one but because of how its drawn... the cross stitch would just look a bit jumbly especially with the white "clouds" around it. I then tried to see if I could get the black and white sketch done as cross stitch but it didnt work because it was missing the detail I wanted to have in it.
It took me and Al (my photocross stitch mate) AGES to work out how to do it but I think we've solved it (well time will tell !)

hmm someone to chart all your pics that sounds good.

Yeah She's fab. http://www.alscross-stitch.co.uk/ (oooh I CAN post links now!)
She's very good. She doesnt charge for consultation and will try and chart ANYTHING!
  • morning all,

didnt do any stitching last night bu have spent a couple of hours on it this morning, im sort of happy with the fin now (i think). i only have the big white patch (well about 8 pale colours) under the mouth and little pale bits round the edges to do the only back stitching is one lne of black along the head and top fin. im optimistic that i will be finished by next weekend im really grateful i found this thread or it would still be a ufo lurking in the cupboard.

loving all the photos and the ideas that appear in this thread:T

Have you tried changing to a sharper needle? That might make it easier to push it through the fabric. Thimbles are cheap and might save your fingers a bit too.

That sounds great, I hope you share with us your progress as you are going along. I already have so much stuff I want to stitch, but now the idea of having something a bit different charted is appealing to me...

I've finally started my rocket for the SAL. I did a bit a last night, but as it's all one colour at the moment its not much to look at. I'll wait and do a bit more before I update to the flickr SAL thread. There doesn't seem to be much activity on there, is Rachel the only one who's started? Or is everyone waiting until they've done a bit more before posting?

I'm going to make the most of my stitching time today as I'll be too busy to get much done over the next two days.

I soooo wanted to start the birth sampler last night but didn't have the energy to fight with my scanner/ printer so it is going to have an accident with the photocopier at work today before I go home.

DH has stolen my baby boy away to cumbria for the night to see his family so I'm going home to a completly empty house crying-smiley-sad-male-cry-tears-smiley-emoticon-000352-large.giffor the first time ever ever ever since DS was born. On the plus side there is no one to winge at me for watching rubbish tv and not doing any housework :D
