Second problem is that it is badly stained so need advice on how to get them out without the colours running. I've low temp machine washed it and hand washed it, so far with no luck

    Thanks in advance, Niamh

    Hi Niamh,

Mmm things I have used in the past (dependent on stain) are:

Dust stains - boiling water in mixing bowl with 4 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda. leave for about 2 hours.

Tougher stains - tea coffee etc.. 1/2 dishwasher tablet in mixing bowl with boiling water - leave about 1 hour.
After both these methods I have always rinsed thoroughly and then soaked in fabric conditioner (1pt conditioner to about 5 pts water) for 15 mins to make fabric easier to iron when ready to mount.

Neither have ever affected the colour of my stitches.. Best bet tho to be sure is to put some spare thread in first for half hour in a bit of water with chosen product to see what happens. If looks ok.. go the whole hog.

    Good Luck!

Well I think I am finally ready to start the Rennie Mackintosh sampler today. I have chosen my colours but they are subject to change as I go along :rotfl:
Hubby saw a piece of paper that I had charted out our names and the date on and asked what I was doing next. I showed him a pic on pc and asked if he liked it......all I got was a shrug of the shoulders and a 'It's alright'. I guess his reaction could have been worse, he could have hated it :D

At lunchtime I was on internet and found this.

    http://www.chcross.com/

They way I have read it - you get 26 gold coins if you register with them, then after that you can use them.

For 5 gold coins you can download to kiss and hug pattern from Emily Peacock.

    http://www.chcross.com/viewthread.php?tid=9884&highlight=emily+peacock

I have managed to register and download these files - was quite easy. They are zip files.

This gives me coins for recommending them -

I hope it helps all the Emily Peacock fans out there.

    Have to go ......

    See ya later

    sweetcarer ;)

I can't seem to register :( would love to do those designs though any chance of a lovely ;)?? Would be very grateful - can add it to my to do list then!!!

Oooh never thought about doing cushions! How easy/difficult are they?

Home sweet home cushion by Charliec45, on Flickr
This is what I am working on but I don't like some of the colours that I have used on some of the letters (O, W, maybe S) so will be probably unpick those and start again!

I just bought a cheapish plain cushion from homebase and am using the soluble canvas onto it - I have just made up the design myself (based on Emily Peacock really) it makes it a lot easier because I have just cut out the canvas for each letter and when I add some detail around the edge I can put the canvas anywhere I want on the cushion (the canvas are only 30cm square so wouldn't fill up the whole cushion otherwise).

This is my first attempt at doing a cushion but so far it has been pretty straight forward (famous last words!!) You could even make the cushion yourself if you had some left over material that you could use?!

Have now moved onto making everyones birthday cards for this year in an attempt to be more MSE!!! I find it so much easier to start something new than pick up an old project - will get round to the cushion at some point though!

Can't believe how many kits some people have in their possession thats mental!!! :D
    Keep on comping!

WOW this thread moves fast. I can't keep up and have had to skip the last few pages. Everyone who requested the 'hug' chart from me should now have it so PM me if it's not arrived (or if you didn't request it before but want it).

I've got to go and get on with decorating the spare room so can't stop long but I hope you're all having a good day.

Thanks for sharing that Sweetcarer, but it said that my username and email addresses were already in use, which has left me with a bit of an uneasy feeling, so I think I will leave it.

Though I wouldn't mind a nudge of the Kiss Chart as Ellie already sent me the Hug Chart. :o

I am sorry if I have caused a bother to people - was only trying to help. Maybe I have done something wrong - I don't know, but I have managed to download the files - they are not 100% clear but might just need a wee tidy up.
hi i would love a nudge of the kiss if you wouldnt mind, have decided to frame them for my bedroom which we are hopefully going to decorate in a few months

I will happily send ;) to anyone who sends their email address. I know a couple of you have already.

I usually soak my stitching in the bath with some bio washing powder and hot/warm water. Look at below -

Didn't get out any of the rust marks but hey it is alot brighter and as some of the girls know in here I was about to bin and start again.

Sweetcarer-I'll never tire of seeing that design. I'm so, so pleased that you didn't bin it and it came up looking as good as it does. :)
