  • Hi all

I hope you don't mind me joining you, just found this. I have been cross stitching since I was a kid. I have to young children (5 and 3) so not had much time over the last few years but really hoping to get going again. I live in Inverness, Scotland.

I recently finished a cross stich I made of my 2 kids using a photo of them (I started when the youngest was 6 months so it took a while :rotfl:). I am getting married in March so hoping to use a wedding photo to make a cross stitch with date of wedding on it, that'll probably take another 3 years.

Really looking forward to chatting with you all.

  • Hi Elaine, I used to find my cross stitches would take me ages to complete when my kids were little, I just never got around to it. My youngest is 4 now and started school last September, so I've suddenly found my stitching speed has picked up. I've got tonnes of time to get on now, or at least I have if I don't waste it on my laptop! Good luck for your wedding.

ejs2311 - that's great, you're getting along well with that. Glad we finally got to see it :D

It very nearly actually was - DS decided to open the packet and try to eat them!!!! that was just before he went into the kitchen and filled a cup with dirt from the dirt pile in the corner (where all the sweeping up goes) and tried to drink it!!

Can you tell what sort of day I've had today!!

  • Little monkey! Nearly bed time :) Yummy needle sandwiches!

I hate new needles - I have my favourite one! (Sad!) It's got a little bend in it now though, and I am scared for it's life!

he was in bed before 6 thank :p (normally tis 7 but is 6 on mondays as hubby goes to the pub straight from work) :D

i guess if its a good needle i can see why you'd get attached. i hate it when they get 'soft' and/or when silver starts rubbing off as they feel funny.

  • Hi folks,

Glad to see that you all survived the festive season and that stitching has continued in spite of bad weather, sickness, family invasions etc.

I've just caught up on the thread, having put the computer on hold for the time being as I have a deadline to meet.

My eldest niece turns 5 in early March and started school at the end of last week, so I wanted to do her something a bit special and grown up for her birthday.

This is the chart - http://s618.photobucket.com/albums/tt268/rowantanner/?action=view&current=SunflowerGirl.jpg

I started on it last Monday afternoon and finished the top border by lunch time today - http://s618.photobucket.com/albums/tt268/rowantanner/?action=view&current=SunflowerGirl-Week1-10Jan2011.jpg - I've gridded the whole thing at the start, which is making life a lot easier, and it gets worked on before work, at work and at every available moment. I'm working from the top down because I am going to need to change the hair and possibly (hope not!) change the colour of the dress.

According to the magazine, it is going to take about 70 hours to complete, so my fuchsias are on hold and I'm only allowed to read at mealtimes :A

I did do the little monsters a Xmas decoration each - http://s618.photobucket.com/albums/tt268/rowantanner/?action=view&current=FunkyFairies-Dec2010.jpg - but they had so much stuff I'm not sure that they actually realised what they were.

Anyway, must crack on so big Zen hugs to all who want or need them, and I am lurking and admiring what you are all doing.

    Best wishes.

    Ro
