Cross Stitch Cafe 2011

I've looked at the rainbow & I still can't see where you went wrong. And I'm the one who normally spots a mistake within seconds. My Mum works in a charity shop & there was a tapestry for sale there. Within moments I'd spotted a missed stitch! It looks great & it's totally original now too.
I haven't done much stitching at all this weekend. Been too distracted by the TV, I'm afraid. Dancing on Ice was too distracting.Didn't get to go to Framework in Swindon either. I had a good think about it and decided that I have enough stash & it would only be putting temptation my way. Aren't I good??? LOL!
Last night in the hotel tonight. Home tomorrow. Been nice to get away, but for some reason I feel quite restless & a bit stressed out at the moment.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I don't worry about that myself as I always wash my work and the stitches come back to life afterwards.
Some help needed:
A friend of mine has asked me this conundrum:
" Does anybody have a chart for the peacock bookmark that came with Issue 39 of Cross Stitcher magazine published sometime in 1996? Any copies of the chart would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks."
Can anyone help? I can pm my email addy to you if you can.
Thanks

my cross stitch nearly went in the bin over the weekend, the unprinted area on the canvas isnt the same size on the fin as the chart its 3 rows thinner but i didnt realise till id had to unpick about 4 hours work TWICE!!!!!!!! eventually twigged what was wrong and counted the area so its a made up fin now. ive almost finished that part but wont know if its ok till ive done and put the edging colour round it.
hope everyone lse had a better weekend

Wow! How long will that take you? You'll need to buy more thread than it suggests if you use 14ct, but I am sure she'll look wonderful!

That's a good idea, I'm just nervous of ruining it. I've only ever used frames that are big enough for my whole piece to be completed before. I've also never dared to wash a piece of stitching. How do you do it without ruining it? Do you use washing powder or just hot water?
Your Piglet looks great, I love Disney designs.
Louise that is lovely. It must be good to look at the before picture and see how much you've done. Do you always mark out the grids on the canvas? I'd never even thought of it until I came onto this thread,it's amazing how many good ideas I'm picking up from here already!0 -
Hiya all
Sorry i haven't been around for a bit, I lost this thread and have now found it (must subscribe to it)
Well i am still on my garden shed cross stich, havent done anything to it for a few months, had to mentally and physcally prepare for my parents staying with me for a week at christmas, and it was lovely, they live in France and i hadn't seen them for a year.
So 2011, the garden shed will get done, even if i leave it to spring and sit in the garden and do it.
Bought a 'live' christmas tree, that supposidly you couldn't keep... sybrian blue spruce, well yes you can, bit of tinternet resarch and repot with new soil (bought it and the poor thing was bone dry).
Dave as he has been renamed has been moved to the garden and seems to be happy, OH said yesterday it looks like he has been growing already
Found a meercat cross stich for mum for christmas, it's not Alexander but she loved it, (wow i got a pressie for mother she actually likes)
I want to sort out the garden this year (new built bungalow on top of demolished prefab), so the soil is just mud and remains of old building, further down lovely clay, so OH gave me a lovely book a few months back on potted gardens, where everything is in pots.
So been looking at what i can use as pots, from my old tea/coffe/sugar pots... not your usual shop bought pots ifyswim.
I hope everyone has a better 2011 than 2010 was.0 -
Hi all
Is it too late to join?
I've been cross stitching for many years.. I love doing "odd" or slightly out there pieces for people (with a few classics thrown in now and again). With work and things I dont find myself enough time to stitch so I have vowed to stitch more in 2011.:T
I do a lot of cross stitch from my own designs using a lady who does photo conversions to turn them into charts and full kits. I've been using her for the best part of 3 years now and proud to say she has become a good friend. I also never fail to surprise her with my odd ideas!)
My challenge this year is to get cracking on a sampler I have comissioned of the Great Atuin which is from Discworld. I think it will be a 2012 finisher but I would like to make a good start! It's rather large even at 18ct and has 96 colours!
I am also thinking of trying a frame for tension due to it's size instead of a hoop. I have never used one.. What are they like?
Good luck everyone on your challenges!0
