Apocasaver. The Ark is looking great!
Hopefully I'll get my design finished today while footys on. Only have some backstitch to do and it's done.
I have decided my next project. Louise kindly sent me the RM wedding sampler so if I can print it off nice and clear AND find I have enough aida then I'll get that started this week.
It's our 10yr wedding anniv in May so about time I had some kind of sampler on the wall :rotfl:
Hubby has wanted to go to New York for years and after thinking about it for ages we have finally booked to go in May. We will be there for 5 days and during our anniversary so it makes it doubly nice to go.
I haven't been abroad for 9 years! Hubby travels quite a lot for work but doesn't get to see anything other than conference rooms, factories and exhibition halls so a proper holiday together will be nice.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
They are here - I just took in a parcel for next door.
14ct aida is the same as 28ct linen so for 25ct I guess 12ct aida would be the closest, but not ideal. I always think of that as the stuff kids use though - lol:o
If you want to use 14ct then go ahead - try using this calculator to enter the dimensions and it will tell you what size fabric you need to order:

You can't mess it upIt will just be slightly different size than if you'd used 25 ct linen...
What I don't get is how the every other hole thing would work on 25ct.. you can't leave the 25th one spare every inch can you...
Off to googleise 25ct linen...0 -
sorry to go off topic! This is basically a review of 2 shops in Northamptonshire for Appoccosaver! (there is quite a bit of Xstitch talk at the end, promise!)Apocasaver wrote: »I was looking forward to some crafty shopping yesterday but thanks to our car it didn't happen
The windscreeen wipers have decided they don't work at all anymore, along with numerous other problems, so hubby has deemed the car a death trap and won't take me anywhere! On the plus side being stuck in the house always = stitching time
i'm sorry to hear about your Car Apposaver. oh what a shame you couldn't make it to Coleman's Warehouse. mum and i had a lovely time (she used to work for the company in a different store but saw lots of old friends which did her good:)) They had 20% of most things, but not the 'sale' things - i was a bit confused. Anyway, 'sale' items were mostly xmas craft papers, shaped hole punches, cuttlebug? stuff, clear 'rubber' stamp kits of all kinds, BOGOF on wooden stamps, literally 50 large tubs of sale stuff - we had a great rummage. I think the sale stitcker stuff will still be on sale other weekends, just the 20% on other stuff won't apply - might we worth calling if that stuff interests you.
i had about 17 quid of stuff in my basket, then my mum grabbed it and paid for most of it!! it's my 30th birthday  at the end of the month so she wanted to get me things i actually want, not random stuff. woo mum!! (that means 1 DMC Secret Scent XStitch kit, a big 'tag' cutter and some lovely clear rubber stamps). I still had to pay for some printer paper and a X Stitch kit that i'm going to stitch for a friend for next year.
So, in all that waffle, i can say that Coleman's Warehouse near Rushden may be mostly paper craft, but for XStitch they have some DMC threads - shiney ones, and also 'Sew&Sews' brand XStitch appature card kits (angles, churches ect only 75p!!), and almost the full range of DMC Secret Perfume kits 4.00 down to 1.50!!!. but the above aren't all in one place and are tricky to find - odd.
Knit & Sew, Rushden - advertises in back of Cross Stitcher ect sometimes. Still lovely lady, still mad random shop buldging with wool, buttons, zips, sewing threads, all Guttermun threads, fabric panels, some cardmaking stuff, some jewellery stuff, Aidea & linen ect, ALL DMC THREADS inc metalic under the counter (;):rotfl:)but she's now had to put prices up to 80p a skein due to not having accounted for VAT rises for years, cheap thread under the counter too, boxes and boxes of DMC Stitch kits (medium kits circa 7quid, large circa 20 really hard to say as sooo many of sooo many different sizes and kinds, and ages!), and a pile of random used xstich and craft sewing books and mags that i can only guess are hers that she's selling on! I got a WOXS from last year for 1quid.
phew, sorry everyone! Appoccosaver... are you exhausted as i am now?:)
oh and those 2 kits have practically doubled my stash too!! :jRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -

Hmm research suggests that you stich over 1 thread, using one strand of floss on 25 ct linen... eeeek tiny!!!!0 -

Oh, she's just beautifulWow! How long will that take you? You'll need to buy more thread than it suggests if you use 14ct, but I am sure she'll look wonderful!
I think I just sold !!!!!!'s car... that means he can shut up going on about his bloody new bike. He got one last year, and now he wants another. No idea about the value of money.
The guy wanted to know who to make a cheque payable too, and when !!!!!! would next be off work! Yay!0 -

s'ok. I think most charts are in black and white (tend to only get magazine ones in colour) You could (if you have time and patience) find a symbol (i.e. take 1 page at a time a few squares) and get out the colouring pencils. Then colour them in before stitching. The charts don't seem toooo bad as the symbols are pretty clear (i know on some they can be a nightmare).
But if you stitch it one symbol at a time in small blocks they can be pretty easy (ish).
I also found this a godsend in my early stitching days.......I've seen em cheaper tho.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0
