Hi
I have been lurking for a while now enjoying seeing all the wonderful work you are all producing. I would like to join in as I have many UFO's and am desperately trying to finish one so that I can start a birth sampler for my expected grandchild in June 2011. Seeing all your work has really inspired me to pick mine up again and crack on.0 -
Welcome to all the new people
This is an incredibly helpful group - there'll always be someone to answer a question oryou a chart you're after!
If you'd like to join either the Facebook or the Flickr photo groups as well have a look at the links on the first post of this thread (thanks, Chicky!). I mod the Flickr group - if you're already on Flickr it'll be easy, otherwise PM me your email address and I will send you an email invite which explains how to join Flickr (for free) and will sign you up to our group.
We're nosy - we like to see pictures of what you're working on0 -
I've nearly finished my January challenge already! I sat down with my stitching and a movie last night and when the movie finished I was naughty and put on another one - result is that I'm well over 3/4 of the way to my Jan challenge, I think I may have to rehink that one!
Having a stressful day today though. I work as a carer and the mum of one of my regular clients is really cross with me. Problem is that she isn't my boss, she's not even my client. She did something that endangered her son while I was there and I had to report it. Now social services have written to her about it, so she knows I reported it and she's been leaving me angry and upset voicemails all day. Argh. I know I did the right thing but I also know that my actions may lead to her son being taken from her or at least taken out of the home into full time nursery so that she can be supervised with him all of the rest of the time. I also know that it's not really my actions that have led to this but really it's hers and I had no choice but to report. I'm still not happy though, and I don't like upsetting anyone, even when I'm not in the wrong.0 -
You did the right thing Ellie - imagine the consequences if you hadn't and then something awful happened. (I'm thinking awful things, I think we all know what I mean)
If the mum can be "trained" to do things properly then only good things have come of it... tough love and all that...
What are you making? I am doing the legs of the cat in Too Pooped. It's really faffy for me - but I am enjoying it.
Keep smiling...0 -

Well done for reporting her Ellie - my dh has had similar situations as he is a carer in his job and it's never easy, is there anyway you can block her calls in the meantime?
Did a wee bit of stitching last night and also sat down and worked out our budget for the next year (very roughly lol!) and am not going to buy any new stitchy things till I go to the show in November in Harrogate - and only a couple of things then if I really want them from Santa iyswim.
Have joined the £365 in 365 days so going to snaffle some of that for myself I think - went to take clothes that didnt fit back to M&S today but changing rooms still closed so ended up getting presies for dd's friends - hello kitty stuff and then party shoes for dd in next and a witches hat for her dancing show in june (and came back with nowt for me at all!)Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000
Savings for big things £90170 -

Pinkruth,
If you'd like to add these to our group pool you'll need to do the following :
On each picture - click on the tab that says "Actions" above the picture and click "Add to/remove from group". You should get a drop down menu that offers to add your picture to the "Moneysavingexpert.com's Cross Stitch Cafe Group". Click on that and your picture will show up in our group pool as well as on your photostream.
(They're gorgeous, by the way - I envy your paitence!)
Edited to add - I've just discovered how to invite individual photos to our group - and I could do that, but it does rely on me spotting group members' postings....if you add them yourself it *might* be more reliable :rotfl:0
