Hmmm, my turn
1. Current project you are working on?
I am in the middle of 100 cats and a mouse, and "Too Pooped". Can't do one at a time lol

2. Favourite project (either stitched or awaiting to be stitched?)
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=69313&ww=1
3. Your favourite cross stitch magazine (nb do you subscribe?)
i read world of cross stitching and cross stitcher. My mum subscribes to Cross Stitcher for me.. good ol' mum
4. best stitching gadget?
I don't really use gagdets - but I do have an old sweetie tube that I roll my project up to store it between sessions! My cats leave their little paw prints everywhere
5. french knots - hate or love ?
I don't find them difficult... as for love/hate - it has to be backstitch and I HATE it!
6. Favourite theme to stitch (i.e. pooh / tatty ted / HAED etc)
Nothing in particular - whatever takes my fancy. Usually cat related lol
7. aida or evenweave ?
I like linen best - my projects have been a mixture of all three. I am currently "researching" dyed fabric. Looks so pretty.
8. favourite needlecraft supplier ?
Sew and so, and Across Town Stitching are my most common - but whichever is cheapest really. I am a bargain !!!!!0 -
I stitch therefore I stash.......... update:loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0

Hey, I have lingered around this crafty forum for quite a few months now and had some fantastic ideas from everyone but now want to start on something new ... I have never done cross stitch before but all of your projects look amazing! Would it be hard for a beginner to pick up? There is a specific project I want to do, to hang up in my kitchen, http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&uid=&Prod_Code=70137&ww=on&do=search_results (hope the link works!)
I haven't bought it yet as unsure if it is beyond me? Or should I start on something smaller to get the hang of it? I do a lot of sewing already so am quite handy with a needle but don't know where to start with cross stitch! Would there be anything else I would need to purchase apart from the kit?
Thanks in advance!Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 - £80.00 / £300 :hello:0 -

that looks like a really good one to start on. the only extra things you may like are a hoop (prob 4"/ 5" for that size) and a pen.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Thankyou fo the quick reply ChickyWiggle, I think I may have one of those pens already... will have to hunt it out. Ooh I can't wait now, lets hope I don't ruin it lol
P.s I may be back for some advice!Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 - £80.00 / £300 :hello:0 -
And a pencil or highlighter pen to mark off on the chart what you've done so you don't get lost0

1. Current project you are working on? Rocky Point by Dimensions but keep getting distracted by my knitting projects
2. Favourite project (either stitched or awaiting to be stitched?)
Ooh difficult one, have stitched so many, maybe the table cloths that my late mum started to stitch but I finished, same situation with the bell pull which I had framed rather than have as a bell pull.
Precious things to me:A
3. Your favourite cross stitch magazine (nb do you subscribe?)
I have just used my Tesco vouchers for Cross stitcher
4. best stitching gadget? not sure but couldn't stitch without hoops, stand, scissors, pin cushion for parking blended threads, highlighter or photocopier for enlarging charts
5. french knots - hate or love ?
:rotfl:straight after my lavender flower fairy kit I would have said hate them but the memory of the pain has faded - bit like giving birth:rotfl:
6. Favourite theme to stitch (i.e. pooh / tatty ted / HAED etc)
I like flowers, samplers, all our yesteryears, lavender and lace, lots of others but
don't like disney, photograph charts, tatty ted, animals, famous people, egyptian, religious, chinese, things with silly sayings (sorry if I offend anyone)
7. aida or evenweave ? evenweave or linen but am stitching on 18 count aida at moment.
8. favourite needlecraft supplier ? like to go to the shows but sew and so are great
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas. We have been ill with coughs and colds and my dad had a chest infection so we had a wierd day without him really. I have been working on Rocky Point today as I have reached a point in my knitting where I am stuck so I am waiting until I can see my knitting friend so she can help me.
Plan for tomorrow is to continue sorting the kids rooms out to get rid of outgrown toys and clothes and tidy up the new ones.
Spent a lot of money at Next today but lots has to go back as it either doesn't fit (me) or they don't like it (son), and have got to work out if my little chicken actually needs all the cute clothes I have got her:o
Didn't get any stitching stuff but then with the size of my stash I don't need any:o Have been given money though so will subscribe to one of the knitting magazines, just not sure which yet.
Happy stitching everyone

Logging in - just a quick visit, have barely been online since Xmas Eve, hope you all had a good Christmas.
My three cross stitch presents were EXTREMELY well recieved - the recipient of the 'Fanciful fairy' said it put all her other gifts to shame.:rotfl:
We had Christmas night at my parents house and spend today with OH's parents and family, so we are all partied out until Friday where it has been voted (!) that the Hogmanay party is to be at my house cos we have the most seating spaces :rotfl: (not so keen on the mess, mind you)
Trying to get the Christmas mice finished off, really don't want to be stitching them in January, then my January challenge is to design and stitch a wedding sampler for my brother/SIL to be then I finally want to get back to 'Touched by Magic'Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
