I've made a start on Too Pooped today
V enjoyable!! I've done the middle bit of the branch. I am so slow... I want to be as quick as *Louise*!!
Are you planning to re-start your spending diary now that christmas silliness is over Flat Eric - I enjoyed reading about your battle0 -
I have had a nice day stitching chester the cat (the middle cat in my row of cats design) and watching columbo. :j more of the same tomorrow ! I will try to post an update on Tuesday by which time I should have finished Chester - just his head now and collar and the back stitch
I had family round tonight - cooked a curry which was really easy - just left it on the hob simmering away meaning plenty of time to stitch.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to say how nice you all are here. I follow the grocery challenge thread and the sealed/virtual pot thread and everyone is nice on those threads also but I have been visiting other threads recently and there are some strange posters. Think I will steer clear from now on and just stick with the cafe here. I'm having a nice diet coke. what are you all having ?? and what are your stitching plans for tomorrow ?
Mmmm...any curry left? I'm on my 2nd glass of wine now. No stitching today. Been online sale shopping. Downloaded some albums from Amazon, bought a atomiser (pink!) for keeping perfume in my handbag & have some nice things in my basket on the Evans site. Do I press 'buy now' or behave myself???
Tomorrow I hope to get some stitching done. Haven't got much more cross stitch left to do on the house & then it's onto the beading. Never done beading on this scale before. Just the odd few to replace those pesky french knots!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

hi TMIF - I am doing a spending diary of sorts - its here http://forum.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=2920794
similar to what I was doing before but with no rules to speak of (thus no rules to break!)
here are my answers to what I have posted above.
1. Current project you are working on?
I'm working on a Bothy Threads design called Row of Cats. See here
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=53211&ww=1
2. Favourite project (either stitched or awaiting to be stitched?)
I think this has to be a Country Companions cricket design. I have many designs that I love but this kit holds fond memories for me so wins the day.
3. Your favourite cross stitch magazine (nb do you subscribe?)
Cross Stitcher - yes I subscribe
4. best stitching gadget?
tough one - probably this http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran1063-0.html although these two are strong contenders also
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=10247&ww=1 and
the pako floss organiser (picture won't display in link) so its item number 28795 if you want to have a nose.
5. french knots - hate or love ?
um only tried them for the first time recently so can't really comment ...
6. Favourite theme to stitch (i.e. pooh / tatty ted / HAED etc)
have lots of pooh kits to do and love tigger and pooh in particular but think the theme that wins the day is cats !
7. aida or evenweave ?
aida
8. favourite needlecraft supplier ?
sewandso although I wish they would mprove their search facility - wish you could look back at previous orders (like with amazon). also would be good if they did some sort of loyalty scheme. Also with their free prize draw - wish it was £15 off anything rather than item limited to £15 or less.0 -

I thought since its a new thread, we should have a bit of fun thus I pose the following questions:

Progress by Mags_cat, on Flickr
(Also two major UFOs at the moment :

So close.. by Mags_cat, on Flickr
and a samurai - both these last two just need the backstitching completing
Almost finished (278/365) by Mags_cat, on Flickr

Aargh...can't choose. I did a castle sampler by Teresa Wentzler many, many years ago that I really like :
http://www.twdesignworks.com/Designs/cass_l.html
3. Your favourite cross stitch magazine (nb do you subscribe?)
I don't buy any.
4. best stitching gadget?
The R+R clip frames - they mean I can work on more than one design concurrently. I used to use the old stitch on roller frames, but then you were stuck with that design on the frame until you'd finished it.
5. french knots - hate or love ?
Hate. If they're essential to the design I'll use seed beads instead.
6. Favourite theme to stitch (i.e. pooh / tatty ted / HAED etc)
Not really got one, I tend to do the kits as presents for other people so it's what they would like. I get bored with flowers, though
7. aida or evenweave ?
Evenweave if it's a design with lots of fractional stitches.
8. favourite needlecraft supplier ?
I can spend hours in Hobbycrafts, but I've just discovered SewandSew thanks you ladies - they seem pretty good.0 -
. Current project you are working on?
European Bistro - Dimensions Gold
2. Favourite project (either stitched or awaiting to be stitched?)
A Boyd's Bear - Proud to be a Bearmerican
3. Your favourite cross stitch magazine (nb do you subscribe?)
WOXS - I do subscribe
4. best stitching gadget?
Elbessee Floor Stand and frames
5. french knots - hate or love ?
Don't mind - they are better than backstitch
6. Favourite theme to stitch (i.e. pooh / tatty ted / HAED etc)
Don't really have a favourite
7. aida or evenweave ?
Aida, never tried evenweave but have a kit that has evenweave - that should be interesting!
8. favourite needlecraft supplier ?
Across Town Stitching, Sew & Sew, Siamese Craft Stitcher and Ebay
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got lots of stitchy goodies.0 -
Morning all, firstly let me thank everyone who has welcomed me to the cafe and here are my answers:
1. Current project.
Currently finishing Deepest Love by Mirabilia. (Im a huge Mirabilia stitcher)
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=7408&ww=1
Only have a few beads to apply, so should finish it today.
2. Favourite Project.
I am about to start stitching Fairy Flora (again Mirabilia), think I will really enjoy this one.
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=10288&ww=1
but I completed one a while ago called Enchanted Mermaid, which I adore. The glass beads and treasures cost over £100 alone, so it was a real investment, but well worth it.
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=35572&ww=1
3. Favourite magazine.
I dont really buy the magazines, I did a few years back, but not now.
4. Best stitching gadget.
Can't beat a decent good quality pair of scissors. Sew and so have fantastic multi coloured ones now and I believe you can also get charms to put on them!!!:rotfl: Other then that Easy Clip frames are amazing. Takes all the hard work out of starting a project.
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran997-0.html
5. French Knots.
Don't mind them.
6. Favourite theme.
Thats easy. Anything Mirabilia!!!!
7. Aida or Evenweave.
I tend to use linen to complete most of my projects.
8. Favourite supplier.
Has to be sew and so. Personally think Hobbycraft is over priced. Ebay is great for charts.:j:):jI am a bankruptcy survivour (10 years ago). It does get easier.:j:):j
:hello:

1. Current project you are working on? This one
Not much left to do on it. Just have the balloon and the clump of greenery/flowers by the front wheel and some backstitching.
2. Favourite project (either stitched or awaiting to be stitched?)
My stitched favourites are the 2 flower fairies I have done for Mums 60th in April.
As for unstitched favourites.....don't really have one. I love all the kits in my stash so couldn't choose a favourite!
3. Your favourite cross stitch magazine (nb do you subscribe?)
I don't buy mags.
4. best stitching gadget?
Hmmm toughie.....I would like to say my elbesee scroll frame but I could manage without it if I had to (I'd use a hoop instead) but I would hate to manage without my metal needle threader. It's amazing how many more stitches I can get out of a piece of thread by using one.
5. french knots - hate or love ?
When they go well I love them.....hate them when they go wrong. Generally though I'll try to make do without.
6. Favourite theme to stitch (i.e. pooh / tatty ted / HAED etc)
Can't choose 1 so I'll have two. I like homey designs and animal designs.
7. aida or evenweave ?
Aida. Evenweave is ok if the design has lots of fractional stitches but my fabric of choice would be aida.
8. favourite needlecraft supplier ?
Sew & so or ebay.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
