OHHHH I am MAD!!!
I lent my friend at work a load of plastic boxes when they moved house and she admitted after our HUGE 110 ltr one had got broken but said they'd replace it.
Have eventually got them back today (almost a year later) and she has just brought me round a load of scabby boxes (that I may as well freecycle) with no lids and are absolutly useless to us as we use em for celler storage hence always buying ones with lids. When I said we really needed them to replace the 110ltr cause they cost a fortune and it's what we store the kids clothes in she just shrugged and went "oh well".
Sorry but I woulda at least offered to give me money to get a new one if I'd been her. Am I alone??
Righty off to go source cheapest storage boxes now.... kits will have to go on my christmas list.:mad::mad:loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

How rude. Yes she should replace those boxes for you, and preferably should have 11 months ago!!! I think you need to calmly mention it again in a day or two even if you say you've found some at wherever and they are going to cost you £? each just to see the reaction. And don't lend her anything again if she can't be bothered looking after it. :mad:Challenge savings 2010-2016 £1564.60:j

won't see her again until November when I return to work (well unless she's around when i go in next). Will make sure I mention it when I do see her tho. Its also not just the expense but have you tried carryng boxes of that size home - we have no car. gonna have to wait till hubby is with me which'll be another thing to add to his list of why he hates me.
Me n hubby also remembered we had lent her a board game before the boxes...... guess what......never been returned.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

Oh how annoying. I don't like borrowing stuff off people in case it gets broken (even books in case I spill my lunch over it (like I did with my brother's (hard back:eek:) harry potter book (which I had to replace like for like) or lose it and I am becoming more and more reluctant to loan anything out in case I never get it back. Sounds like I'm becoming a right grump but when you have spent your hard earned cash on something or been given something special as a gift, its an insult when someone has no respect for said item. I would be dumping the boxes she has given you in her garden and demanding a like for like replacement
I will say though when I was looking for storage boxes, I found Te$co Direct (I think I got free delivery?) to be very good although we are talking a couple of years back now and when I looked a few months back to get some more, I didn't see any boxes I liked. Also bear in mind Argo$. Their new catalogue will be out tomorrow (I think) which will mean end of season stock clearance?? and new stock promotions.
In stitching news, have stitched three xmas cards now although one seems to have vanished but will be tidying up tomorrow so hopefully I will find it and can post pictures.
I am quite enjoying stitching them. They are quick and easy to stitch and will be perfect come xmas time to bring some festive cheer :xmassmile
I'm looking forward to the xmas themed mags coming out so I can get some more ideas for xmas cards.
Talking of mags, I'm annoyed with Cross Stitch Crazy - aside from the faff with our prize not turning up, they have been posting hourly competitions on facebook today (and possibly before now?) with first person with correct answer wins. Similarly, World of Cross Stitch have been running daily?comps this week until 3pm. All well and good but I don't often get a chance to view facebook until the evening and as for being on facebook every hour, on the dot, no chance. Why can't they run the comps for 24 hours and prize winner be, person pulled out of the hat ? I know the idea of facebook and companies running competitions is to improve their profile / remind customers of their existence/ get them to spend their money with them (Lu$h for example) but what benefit to the mags get - does the lull of all these competitions make people rush out and buy their mags ?
Have caught up with all recent posts but that was lunchtime and had a very busy afternoon and a big tea since so somewhat forgot but hi everyone, hello soulie  hugs all - hope you all have lovely weekends planned. Me. I am off to find the red wine....
ps I want to stitch a special 60th birthday card for my aunty. anyone got any pointers of a suitable design ?0 -

Oh noo - I hate borrowing things too.... which reminds me I have a load of books I borrowed off someone at work that am never gonna get round to reading. Thankfully she actually only lives a couple of roads away so think I may e-mail her and ask if I can drop them round.I will say though when I was looking for storage boxes, I found Te$co Direct (I think I got free delivery?) to be very good although we are talking a couple of years back now and when I looked a few months back to get some more, I didn't see any boxes I liked. ohh not looked at tesco or asda... good idea.
Argos have had their sale going a while now and there are some but they are smaller and not as good. good idea about the new catalogue tho.
(was it sad I went and picked up the new argos catalogue the day I got married cause that was when it came out???) :rotfl:In stitching news, have stiched three xmas cards now although one seems to have vanished but will be tidying up tomorrow so hopefully I will find it and can post pictures.

I decided (can't remember if i said) I am going to do Margaret Shelly's 12 days of Christmas and do a different design on each card. Just as soon as I get the motivation to sort out the threads/ aida etc.Talking of mags, I'm annoyed with Cross Stitch Crazy - aside from the faff with our prize not turning up that has annoyed me, they have been posting hourly competitions on facebook today (and possibly before now?) with first person with correct answer wins. I know that drove me mad too!!! Then that stupid "post a pic of something you stitched from our mag"..... like I'd remeber which mag i got what out of.
ohhhh lu$h run competitions????
you know i said about that free gift I had to pay the postage on?! was SOO impressed, for everyone it happened to they sent us £10 worth of gift vouchers for their product.... not bad when the postage we had to pay was just under £3.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
good call flat eric!!!! Tesco direct had 110ltr ones for about £25 however the purple ones must be discontinued so got 2 x purple ones for £15!! BARGAIN!!
Unfortunalty I also ordered DS1 a lego firefighter set for his birthday and a new king size fitted sheet for us!
£5 delivery but when tram fare for us is £3.70 each thats not tooo bad.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
ooh chicky how rude if it was me i'd have replaced you all the ones that got damaged . My grandad brought us up to believe if you borrow something you return it in the same or better condition than when you borrowed it and if you can't then you replace it.
My dil had some plastic storage boxes with lids on she bought them from morrisons 2.99 each or 2 for a fiver they are great .Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

thanks CG. I am guessing they are small ones (tho actually yes morrisons do have good price boxes IIRC). Unfortunatly I literally fill a 110ltr for each size (at the moment there are 3 boxes that size in celler 6-9month, 9-12month, 12-18month and 2 45 ltr ones for 18-24 month) They are also fab for filling with ebay stuff, cross stitch stash or outdoor inflatables (as the kids now have too many for the small box).
Jeeez that makes my kids sound right spoilt!! Ok they are but would rather treat them to nice toys etc then have a night in the pub. and the majority has been picked up super cheap or free.
no stitching getting done here again tonight (can you tell??) I now have to have a bedroom sort out and put away clothes and re-organise stash and crap.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

Ohhh that made me laugh at the thought!!:rotfl::rotfl:23rdspiral wrote: »but luckily the 4 piles of mags were still there... so i sat on the floor and went through them for an hour!:)
... erm... i bought 44!!:eek: i filled the rucksack (that amused the ladies a LOT) and a couple of cloth carriers, but i will return next week when they've put more out (she couldnt let me see those as she didnt know the price yet).
Nooo...I think they just knew you would spend another hour going through them. I think they should have offered you a cuppa since you were there so long:rotfl:
Seriously though - £5???? Bargain of the year!!! :money::j:T:T:T
Sweetcarer - just (((hugs))). Great tips from 23rd though, hopefully you can save your things xxx
Chicky - You're really not having much luck with the people surrounding you are you? I'm hoping things improve, and yes, she flipping well should have offered to replace that box! Glad you found replacements though, I'm tempte to order them myself :T
As for me....I have been stitching, it's just a lot of blue shades of not very much tbh. Have been working on the partial pages around the edge to give me the overall size, so will update after the next page is completed (prob a few days at the rubbish rate I have been going at)
Still, we have been busy since hubby is off for a couple of weeks - took eldest to see Deathly Hallows yesterday and went to the opening of the Museum of Scotland today. They had a great animatronic T-Rex outside for the street party. However DD was having none of it and refused to go near it because when she asked her Dad what it ate he replied with 'small children!' silly man...he is a great guy but sometimes he just doesn't think!!:doh: :rotfl:
I thought the head was fantastically detailed, the body was okay but when it bent it's head down you could see a zipper at its bum!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
