Soulie - that eagle looks like it was plucked from your mind! wonderful!

thanks everyone for the ideas on how to inventory my new stash! It looks like an events/someday maybe excell list is in order . I do have to admit that I was having trouble getting my head around what id just bought. I kept looking at one then another then another, with lists building up in my head and all the different magazine names spinning me around.

So I decided to go with my highly trained archivist-ish and therefore somewhat pedantic nature, and created a spreadsheet of what I had just bought. A separate tab for each Mag title, and Cover Chart info to help identification, then must stitches, want to’s and useful to remembers…
It took about 2 hours last night, including flicking through the mags, and I feel so much calmer now. I don’t think it will take long at all to reverse engineer a ‘stitch list’ from this. Now I want to add in the mags I already have (not many in comparison), but HAVE to tidy up before we get our new sofa today (its 15yrs old, leather and was my OH parents but they fancy a change. Woo! And hopefully it will mean less backache as we’ve only had a futon to sit on for the last 3 months!

i have an excel spreadsheet name/ occasion/ date needed for/ mag title/ issue/ page number....

    thanks! will do!

I tried cutting them out but there kept being one on the back of the other and it was too messy for my OCD

i think if i cut them up i'd be like that too nykied. that and the archivst in me likes to 'preserve things as found'! oh dear me. i do pitty my OH sometimes!

23rd Spiral - what a bargain!!! I agree with some of the others - straight back there with an offer for the pile of them!! With my 'to do list' I have a spreadsheet of the ones I want to do and where the charts are then I have the satisfaction of turning the line bold and addng DONE to the end column when I'm done!!! (How sad am I!?!). I keep my mags in storage boxes in our bedroom.

Basically, they're in an Excel spreadsheet with what the design is, which mag and which issue (all my mags are in magazine files in order). I highlight them when I've done them and I only put ones that I think I might one day do.

ooh, i like those ideas lots. to be able to tick them when done and see forever what i did and who it went to.
i love ticking off lists! i'm going to do that by reverse engineering my list. thank you!

Got Princess Palace & DOC all gridded up & not sure how long you can leave the lines on the fabric before they no longer wash out. They were fine after 6 months when I stitched Dictionary of Bras, but I'm sure it's been almost a year with these 2 WIPs. At least. :o

:eek:god youve scared me now ive got my titanic gridded out DD brought me a white washable pen from america as its navy adia, i wont be fiishing that anytime soon and as not all the fabic is stitched im stuffed it it wont come out

Just back from camping holiday and trying to remove dirt from 2 kids and a variety of camping gear. Did take stitching stuff and do a little bit but spent most of time playing in different play areas.

Hope everyone is ok and has a good weekend:)

hey - very sleepy atm so will browse the many many pages when I get back from work but just wanted a bit of advice - I love the brickwall maid design on this site http://www.urban-cross-stitch.com/urbancrossstitchlargekits.htm I just wondered if anyone had seen it cheaper/had the pattern. I haven't completed a cross stitch in ages until today - its been about 5 years since I last picked up some aida! I had forgotten how addictive it can be I finished the small design in a couple of hours and I am now looking for my next project - I am hoping this thread will come in very useful ;)

I have found a nice country companions design to stitch for my aunty's birthday. The stitch count is 78 x 81 and I think I'm going stitch on 16 count white aida - so how big do you think the card will be ? is there a converter that will tell me ?

in other news - is anyone watching the cricket. Mr Bell is run out but a very odd and controversial decision!!

Flat Eric, I found a converter for iPad... It says design size is 5 inches x 5 1/2 inches, so if allowing a 2 inch border cut fabric to 9 x9 1/4 inches. Hope that helps.

Quiet on here today. I've got so much house work to do... OH helped me move some furniture around .... Making a huge mess... ESP lots of boxes and bags not yet dealt with since moving.... And he's gone out with the lads! I've no oomph to do it all alone :0(
