Chicky - that sampler really is lovely :T

Ailsb - Don't you just hate it when everything goes wrong at once! You were lucky you weren't going any faster when whatever it was blew, and that price doesn't sound too extortionate, you sound like you have a decent mechanic there lol

Keiss - still rooting for you to get that elegant lady finished! Look forward to seeing some pics of your other crafts as well :)

No stitching of any kind today, here's a link to piccies of my bags.

    Off to bed, shattered tonight.

I have started the outlining tonight and I don't like it. It's done in 2 strands of black and I'm finding it very heavy. I might unpick it and redo it using just one strand. Will decide tomorrow.

I thought that when I started backstitching it - but in the end I went with it. It really made the design pop out, imo. But you'll know what you want to do when you come back to it - try looking at it from the other side of the room :)

    Hi all.
Just wanted to say thanks to mags_cat ;);) I'm about 2/3 the way to completing Tenby Harbour. Will try to post an update this weekend. Not looking forward to all that backstitch though:eek:

Good grief - that's fast! I fully expect this one to take me years!

I *think* I'm going to try and stitch one page of the design at a time and backstitch it too, up to the edge of the page as much as possible. I hate backstitching and though tof doing all that at once has brought me out in a cold sweat!

Mags-cats I went and had a look back at you finished MP last night and it reminded me of why I wanted to stitch it in the first place - thanks. I'm off out today (ALton Towers). Will do as you say and look from across the room this evening before unpicking it.

Plus, if you use two strands of black, you'll be able to start it with a loop knot rather than threading it through stitches - so much easier ;)

Well as promised here's my update on my MP Wedding Sampler.

This is what it looked like at last update back in March.

and here is what it was earlier when I finished the main stitching. It took me ages to do the bit at the bottom in the creamm colour as I had to unpick loads and didn't remotivate myself for about 6 weeks.

The top disappears round the bar of the frame, it is there in real life.

Oh dear.........I bought this to do for my friends wedding at the start at august but have barely looked at it becuase i had a couple of new baby stitches to do - this is STILL not started (though I've copied the charts) guess thats what im doing constantly through the next few days off and dont think il be able to get it finished AND framed for then.......only plus point is that the toybox doesnt have much to go and im going to cheat and not do the shelf but instead sew additional boxes for the date and weight - hopefully going to get this finished on monday lol

I'm heading to alton towers with my man and mate tomorrow and was planning how on earth i could get my stitching out on the bus but have resigned mysekf to the fact that its just too big and awkward to try to handle so will take a UFO that just needs yellow - have part finished a lion rampant. Did all the red lion & outline but got fed up with the yellow so kinda gave up. The good thing is that I won't have to count and can instead just fill in so wont need to bring much except scissors, the thread, the actual stitch in a hoop and a few needles (in case i drop a couple) xxx

Ailsb - Good idea. Have a great time scaring yourself silly at AT today :)

Nykied - Exactly! That's what I did and it made all the fiddly little "starting in the middle of nowhere" backstitching much easier.

I was going to do it like that as well but once I got into it I decided to do all the stitching first. I unpicked an entire page as well - it should be nearly finished by now. I tried to convert the threads to dmc but after doing a page I didn't like the contrasts in the colours so decided to do it in the original anchor. I tried converting it because I only had dmc threads in the stash so thanks to across town stitching I got the 50 threads offer. Its also done on a pale blue aida because thats what I had left.
Just taken a photo so will upload later.

I know, I love the loop start! When I started my WIP, it's made up of individual squares and it's going to be a cushion. I thought it would look better if I did it in three strands but gave up after the first one because of all the fiddly threading-through stuff ;)

I don't think you can tell on my stitching anyway - or maybe I've just convinced myself I can't!

Bikerchick - thanks sooooooo much for the chart and thread, they arrived today :T
