23rd Spiral you sound as if you had a brilliant time. I'd be jealous if I could cope with the lack of sanitation.

Wow!:j I've just read this on catching up. How exciting! Is it cross stitch crazy? Got to check, monies spent already this month mean I can't get the wrong number, what issue is it? Some shops round here aren't quick to get rid of past editions.

:hello: Just got back yesterday from our trip to Edinburgh and done Race for Life today. Great day - weatherwise and the atmosphere was fantastic and its all in a good cause at the end of the day.

Managed to track down a sewing shop in Edinburgh - just small but had some qute nice stuff and a lovely lady. Bought two kits - well I did say she was a lovely lady. Not going to check though to see if I could have got them cheaper online. I did notice a little kit of an owl and it said something about blackwork - has anyone done any of this - perhaps you could let me know what you thought of it please. OH and DS were getting a bit restless - I mean they did stand in the shop for all of let me think ............... 5 minutes ( men) Have found kit online but wondered what you ladies thought first.

Am I right in thinking that the mag goes on sale on Tuesday? Can you just remind me which mag it is again. (sorry I think the sun has melted some of my brain cells today) My sub to WOXS starts this month but I didn't think it was that one.

Will try to catch up will all your posts and try to update with pic of my stitching - none done since last Tuesday I think and got a busy week ahead.

Hope everyone has been enjoying the sunshine - apparently things have to change mid week.

    Take care everyone.

Yes that's the one. It's one of my favourites as well. I have a soft spot for Nicholas Cage but can't really say why. I have most of the films he's been in even Captain Corellis Mandalin - although he was rubbish in it. :rotfl:

Blackwork owl kit-if it's the one I'm thinking of, I've started it but have no idea where it is! I have finished the rocking horse in that range though. I quite enjoy blackwork & it seems so quick to do.

    Edited to add-this one??? http://www.x-calibredesigns.co.uk/html/blackwork_starter_kits.html

:) one of my faves too :) there was a run of nic cage films when I was a teenager, the Rock, Face Off and Con Air... All good, even though he's kind of the same character in all of them :rotfl:

Had some nostalgia this afternoon.. young Guns 2 ... Only saw 20 mins but it was enough to bring back all that teenage up against the system angst!:rotfl:

People asking about the magazine, it's Cross Stitch Crazy and it's out on Tuesday. I don't know what actual issue it is though - someone who's already got it on subscription should be here soon to answer that one.

I'd quite like to try blackwork but I keep thinking of it as lots of backstitch...

Its Cross Stitch Crazy Issue 154 which is September 2011 (despite the fact we are only just in July :rotfl:)

Its got Fizzy Moon on the front cover, an exclusive!

Back to the Rock, I like the scene where Nicolas Cage is chasing Sean Connery through the streets of San Fransisco (one because I have been to SF so it brings back memories) and 2 because the chase almost has you on the edge of your seat, the music is atmospheric and I love the bit when Nicolas Cage crashes the ferrari and the kid says to him, gee man, you just (rude word!) up your ferrari and Nicholas Cage's reply is "its not mine" and then proceeds to steal the kid's bike oh and I like the bit where Sean Connery is talking to his daughter and all the cops turn up and Cage is all nicey nicey then when his daughter's gone its like why don't we cut the (rude word) (another rude word) :rotfl::rotfl: :rotfl: to Sean Connery Oh and when the hair dresser after being scared witness, all he is concerned about is whether the hair cut is ok. I want to watch it again now !

It always makes me laugh how they get so far ahead of themselves! And my OH subscribed to Cross Stitch Gold for me last Christmas - he's just got the renewal though and it only runs out in November! :D

The designer for x-calibre used to live the the next village to me many years ago and I stitched the 'blackwork stitcher' for her to use as a sample. http://www.x-calibredesigns.co.uk/html/lacemaking.html
I like to think that the one in the picture is the one that I stitched! :rotfl: They are really nice to do, as I don't really like back stitch but the ones on the site are better because there are all different stitches IFYWIM.

An update on my Mary Hickmott Highland design OMG I have done about 3 inches and am fed up of it already  I need to knuckle down and get on with it.

How are you getting on *Louise* any news yet about your dad?
