just curious - how does everyone store their stash?
Sorry if thats bored everyone but i love seeing and hearing about peoples storages techniques lol.

    Okay....
Threads are kept in 5x plastic storage boxes on plastic bobbins in the living room sideboard. Also in that sideboard section there are various charts, a couple of kits (candlelight and a little boy with a spider) and the most recent cross stitch mags.

There is a craft bag behind one of the sofas with some UFO's in it. My largest UFO (Touched by magic) is in a carrier bag hanging up in the hall cupboard because it's too big lol

Upstairs......in my daughters wall cupboard there is a suitcase with fabric in it. There is a smaller suitcase with various types of aida and evenweave in it.

In my bedroom, I have 2 large storage boxes in the wall cupboard - one has completed work in it to keep it all laid flat - well over 80 stitched pieces at the last count. :o The other box has loads of small kits - the type of ones that you get on the front of magaznes. There are also another couple of UFO's in this box and some bigger kits. In the middle wardrobe, the top shelf is dedicated to cross stitch books and a couple of lever arch files full of charts taken from magazines (put in poly folders and grouped according to the type of chart) There is another small case with lots of 'spare' DMC threads to top up the main boxes if I run out.

Is it any wonder I want my own craft room!!:rotfl:I woudl love to have loads of shelves and everything all in one room, unfortunately I don't have one space big enough to fit it all. :o

I like these Floss Away bags All loose bits of thread can be stored in the bag and there is no faff wrapping the thread round the plastic bobbins :j

Those are very handy looking, I might have to get some. My aunt came over from America and brought me lots of threads - they were Jannlyn ones, I couldn't put them in with the DMC, so they have been sitting in a seperate box and I have been using them for small cards etc where I can use my own colours, so they would be better in bags :)

Until recently all my stitchy stash was in the footstool that goes with the sofas but everything was getting squashed so I made some space in the sideboard and moved my kits and spare fabric into it. Everything else stayed in the footstool.
My threads are stored in 2 large square pencil case type bags from the £ shop. Branded skeins/lengths have their own individual zip lock bag to keep them clean with a sticky label if needed and thread that I have no idea of brand is just loosely knotted in a bundle. Bits & pieces like pens, needle threaders, sticky labels live in a small plastic box that fits nicely in the footstool.
Hubby says I am weird because I like to have all my stash together in one place :o

    A cheap alternative I found on ebay is zip lock bags that I mentioned above. I bought 1000 (yes 1000, not 100 :D ) 3 x 3.25 inches for £4.59.
Quickly looking on ebay just now they are selling cheaply and in lots of different sizes, just search for resealable bags.

My charts are kept in a bedside set of drawers from when there was a bed in the spare room and not all my sewing stuff, mini kits are kept in a nice box, my threads are on plastic bobbins and arranged by colour in one of those 4-drawer plastic things, my magazines are in order and in magazine boxes on bookshelves in the sewing room and my current project is strewn across the little coffee table in the living room.

Talking of my current project, I started it when I only used Anchor threads and I've run out of white. DMC white isn't the same and so I'm off to find somewhere that sells Anchor with free delivery, or alternatively somewhere that sells Anchor and DMC. I don't want to buy any more Anchor other than the one skein of white, as I'm firmly a DMC girl now :D

Hi Ladies sorry i've had no computer for a few days . My oh decided to download ie 9 for me but something else on my lappy didn't like it so it sent it nuts and i couldn't get online finally sorted it yesterday but i have lost a couple of things from the computer .

Bikerchick. Glad it's going fairly well for you. My grandaughter has a brain tumour she's been having treatment since she was 15 months old . She's 5 and a half now and doing well.

Louise it's crazy them keeping you waiting so long.

Some fab stitching been done . Those workboxes are fab nowhere near big enough lol but fab anyway.
I have a set of 3 leather stacking cubes/boxes and keep a lot of my stash in those. The smallest one has small kits and seed beads , The middle one has thread boxes in as i now have too many for the small one lol. It also has some aperture cards and a couple of odds and end in . The largest has fabric and larger kits in. They are multi purpose too when all the grandkids are here they sit on grandmas craft boxes lol.

Can't believe I'm sat here readling this when I go on holiday in an hour and a half!

Had no time to catch up over the weekend after 350 cakes for the food festival and another 100 for last nights event!!! ...When I get back remind me I'm up to p300!!!

From what I've seen great work as usual!

Looked at the forecast for Budapest and it's given rain for the first 3 days so have packed 2 cross stitches just incase! Even remembered the gold needle and dental floss pack so I can hopefully stitch on the planne!!!

Anyway, enjoy your stitchings and look after yourselves. See you when I get back xxxxx

I had a look through the discount section and the only one I was really tempted by was a cottage scene but it was in tapestry
My Dad saw a picture in a very old cross-stitch mag that he loved, it was a few olde-stylee cottages that looked very real and I'm keeping an eye out for a similar chart or kit.

I have charts of the following cottage scenes if you would like a snail mail ;)
The only one I can confirm what brand of threads is the Anchor one. Weirdly the others don't state (that I could see) what thread they use but you could possibly find out by googling.

This first one I can't send you unfortunately as it's colour and our printer doesn't do colours very well but I found someone has posted the chart for it so all you would need to do is save their pics to your pc http://crocettina.blogspot.com/2011/03/bucilla-touch-of-england.html

This one is a Janlynn kit, more house than cottage but I really like it :D

    This one is Anchor http://www.stitcher.co.uk/view-product.asp?ssn=8562

This last one I couldn't find online, it's a Bucilla,

If you are interested in any or all, drop me a PM.....no worries though if you aren't interested in any of them :D
