hello everyone! i hope you are all well and happy? i've only read the top page so far, so Hugs to Louise and BikerChick, i'll catch up properly when i can. oh and i love that wooden box... humm... xmas wish list i think! you lot are definately a bad influence!
so i'm back from Glastonbury Festival. I had an amazing week working in the Theatre and Circus Fields and had experiences money couldnt buy... eg i 'fixed' Holly the computer from Red Dwarf (ie, i spent 2 hours with him helping him though a camping crisis!), saw brilliant roots bands (3 daft monkeys) and world bands (U2), and witnessed some stunning world class circus (Circolumbia and Space Cowboy being highlights).
I did sadly get a bad cold with a fever so didnt manage to do everything i'd hoped, but it was fab none the less. and that meant i drank less cider so saved money there too!
On a frugal front, we were fed 2 meals a day (vegan and healthy) apart from sunday, and i took mugshots and value cup a soups, so i didnt spend much at all compared to previous years. My not so frugal bit was buying a few clothes on very good offers and i treated myself to a silver ring... but still spent less than previous years due to food being so expensive there.
we sat in traffic for most of yesterday to get home (8hr trip, was 3.30 to get there!) so after detangling my hair i finally showered at 1am!
I think it will take me a few days to catch up with all the posts... and i HAVE To finish the 90th card for Val asap. wish me luck! xRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
One is not amused
I ordered the chart for 'A little princess sleeps here' from the Faye Whittaker website a while back (it said 1-3 days for delivery and I had actually forgotten I had bought it, that's how long it's taken!)
Anyway I digress - it arrived yesterday and I sat down oday to start preparing the fabric and threads and when I opened it up - no flipping chart!!!! Just a picture cover and completely blank inside
Have emailed them - wonder how long it will take to get a replacement!
i have this let me know if i can help
hugs to louise and biker chick

could you tweak this to fit (choose your fav pics?) if so i can;) that one.
I can't see the pictureNykied. I have an email of the chart 'I stitch therefore I stash' if that's any good for your box lid? You can see it here that someone has stitched (scroll down past the rose card) http://awikkidwomanswords.wordpress.com/2010/07/
On the info it says that you need a frame with a minimum aperture of 8 and a quarter inches X 10 and a half inches, no idea if that's anywhere near the size of your box lid.
No worries if you don't want it but if you do want it, you know what to do
The window on the box is only 5 x 7 inches :mad:0 -
bad computer nykid.....http://www.stitcher.co.uk/view-product.asp?ssn=26229&product=sewing.....ohhhh they have a good discount section (sorrryyyy if i looked by accident so do you!!)
glad things are going as well as can be expected biker.

That looks lovely, but the marvellous bikerchick is going to send me the one from her box - thanks anyway :T
I had a look through the discount section and the only one I was really tempted by was a cottage scene but it was in tapestry
My Dad saw a picture in a very old cross-stitch mag that he loved, it was a few olde-stylee cottages that looked very real and I'm keeping an eye out for a similar chart or kit.0 -
i have that box i really liked it but it's not that fab 'in the flesh' so to speak (so i thought.....) was really gutted but it now houses my cover kits lol
just curious - how does everyone store their stash?
I have two stacking cupcake tins for my current project - i keep my threads on bobbins in the smaller tin while the larger houses the smaller one as well as scissors, thread heaven, water eraseable pen and the pen i use to mark off my chart, these fit nicely into a large paper carrier bag where i also keep my chart and my frame (i use a clothes peg to pin my current chart to the fabric). My pako needle organiser is stored in here too in an old cotton pad drawstring bag.
I store kits in a large wicker basket, charts and fabric are stored in a really useful box, cover kits go in that wooden box and threads are stored on bobbins in a large cardboard box (i got the set of thredas from leisurecraft for my xmas last year), i have a small 2-drawer thing which houses duplicate thread and a reasonable large satin storage box which keeps my UFOs safe till i can get my bum in gear! I also have a 12x12" scrapbook wherei keep completed projects......
Sorry if thats bored everyone but i love seeing and hearing about peoples storages techniques lol. will try and post pics during the week, and am hoping to get round to updating flikr with the toybox progress - have pretty much finished it just a couple more toys, the top and the shelf and il be laughing - wanted to have it done by the end of the month so so far am about 2 weeks inim pleased with my progress lol xxx

does anyone know the best value place for:
a) plastic bobbins?
b) plastic storage boxes for bobbins?
c) b with a as part of the package?
have scoured e-bay but best boxes i can see have cardboard bobbins (or doesn't specify) and am not keen on these ones.
thanks.
I like these Floss Away bags All loose bits of thread can be stored in the bag and there is no faff wrapping the thread round the plastic bobbins :jYou are a very very naughty girlI want one too. Decided to have a google and found a few on ebay and some discontinued. But what about this one:

Might see if Fr Christmas fancies bringing me an early present - in my dreams!!
have you seen this ? thread boxOh yeah, now I remember, I saw this (wooden) thread box last year and I was meant to be saving £1 a week so I could buy it..... hmm may be if its still in stock this time next year....

My kits are stored in (large) clear plastic boxes with lids. I have smaller boxes for my threads sorted as to dmc and anchor. (threads sorted as to 1 - 100, 101 - 200 etc in sandwich bags!)
I have even smaller boxes for my pooh threads / vareigated threads and even a box for white / black thread! I have one of those plastic storage drawer type chest things from Arg$os - in here I have my material, gadgets etc.
As I developed a passion for other crafts, I have quite a few of those storage drawer chest things and all my craft stuff is sorted accordingly.
I have several folders of (mag) charts which I have sorted in the past and hundreds of magazines - sorted as to which mag it is - lots and lots of cross stitcher !
Typically current project kept in a box file - I stick a magnet strip to the lid to secure needles and have the pako needle organiser / pako thread organiser also. Commute to work kit is in an a4 ziplock wallet I got in wilkin$ons.
HUGE HUGE hugs to bikerchick and Louise :grouphug: :blushing: :grouphug: It certainly puts things into perspective and makes my work grumbles very trivial.
In stitching news, I'm stitching the bookworm again on plastic canvas - I took a picture when I had only just started it so will post soon and I have decided to stitch newton in bed on plastic canvas so I can use him as a bookmark :j
Happy stitching all0 -
Bikerchick glad you're coping well with the treatment and just feeling tired. You've done really well managing to stop smoking. Hope the next scan goes well.
23rd Spiral you sound as if you had a brilliant time. I'd be jealous if I could cope with the lack of sanitation.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j
