I think there are some instructions in the first post of this thread....

But basically, upload photos to Flickr/Photobucket.

view the photo in flickr/photobucket, and copy the IMG code.

Paste the IMG code into your post on MSE

    Tada! x

Thanks, will try to join this photobucket thingy tonight :) x

i think i'd probably improve my stash - different colour aidas, every dmc thread colour available, really good quality needles.
then i'd go to hobbycraft and pick whichever kit i like!

    toddler taming
    health and safety gone mad

    you?

I think I would like every dmc and anchor thread - oh and an unlimited supply/stock of material - aida / evenweave / bookmark aida / plastic canvas and the like - different colours, different counts etc.

I would also like some sort of proper storage system for all my supplies :T Its kind of ok how I have it at the moment but not perfect!

In reply to the other question I asked, I don't know what to read at the moment hence my question.

Reading is my other love and does battle with cross stitching on many occasions!!! I read Alan Sugar's book,
What you see is what you get recently which I really enjoyed although I got bored by all his talk of football!! and I finished a couple of days ago the last weekend by blake morrison.

I got some books out of the library yesterday but I think most will go back unread - one I don't like the print, another, the book is ninth in the series and I haven't read any of the previous eight, the other just doesn't grip me. I did get some quick reads as well so I might give those a go - I always find that when its a library book, I feel stressed about reading it because I know I have to return it by ?? date so it kind of spoils my enjoyment a little bit.

I have plenty of books to choose from - I could open my own library/book shop!! (as well as my own cross stitch shop!!!) so I shall no doubt find something but can't make up my mind at the moment.

Its raining here again which puts paid to me putting my washing out thats about to finish  but hey ho, an excuse to retire to the sofa and stitch me thinks. I really like the newton design in the new issue of world of cross stitching so will see if I can find the threads and that might be my project for today with the cricket on the tv if it isn't rained off.

Have a lovely day all :j

Finished these cute christmas designs over the last two evenings - they are from a Nov 2008 magazine, so nearly three years I have been meaning to get them done (and I choose June...lol)

    June2011004.jpg

I love working with that sparkly aida. They are supposed to be cards but I think they would looks nice in a small double-aperture frame. :)

Wish I had time to stitch all day, but got to go out shopping. It's an expensive weekend for us - 3x Fathers day gifts and cash gift for an engaement party tonight. I'm being a meanie and resenting the engagement party a little (aside from the fact we only ever see them at christmas usually) - the couple have been living together for yonks and don't even plan to set the date for a couple of years, just sounds like an excuse for a party and extra gifts to me :o

Oh - I was reading in a recent mag about miniature cross stitching for dolls houses - has anyone tried this? The kits seem quite expensive but DD has a woooden dolls house and I was thinking about making a few bits for her, just not sure where to start regarding fabric and needle sizes :)

afternoon everyone, just popped in before starting my afternoon of gardening and then x-stitch (gardening/weeding is the chore, x-stitch the reward!)

anyhow just had to say if money was no object then I would buy every chart on my wish list, take a year off work and then x-stitch everyday! :j

I'm reading Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris, its no 5 in the Sookie Stackhouse books......otherwise known as True Blood the TV series (which I've never watched)

Has anyone ever had problems with delivery from sew and sew? I have ordered some crafty bits and paid for delivery on Saturday, so I was dead keen to get them! And I have heard nothing. No communication about time slot, nothing. I am so hacked off with sew and sew right now. And let me tell you, it was not a small order. :( Grrr.

  • Hi again

Louise - those christmas pictures are lovely I love the colours and the sparkly aida I was looking at it in hobbycraft but couldn't think of an excuse to buy it and don't really have the funds to buy it just in case!

I started my first christmas project last night which is a rose bag from cross stitch crazy i think. Its my first proper project on evenweave although my last project was a baby afghan so have got the idea of stitching over two but the size is a bit different this time! Hopefully I can keep focused use up some of the bits I have lying around to make a lot of christmas gifts this year to save pennies!
    take care

    Hi ladies.
Shelly did you get all your threads sorted?

Pretty much, got 6 kits sorted and have 1 left to do. A couple of them were frustrating though because they just said what colour I should have but not how many lengths there should be.
One of the kits had something like 4 shades each of gold, brown and rust then 4 shades each of two different types of green! What a kerfuffle! :rotfl:
If you have a colour then number of lengths it's usually easier to sort them by a process of elimination.

So for a bit of fun, if money was no object, what cross stitching dream item would you buy ???

and in other news what are you reading at the moment ?

If money was no object I wouldn't buy an item....it would be items :D
I'd like the whole set of 'Dictionary of' kits and the 'Cut thru' kits too. Also I see some nice designs of landscapes that have a kit for each season but I never buy one of them as I want all 4 so I would probably buy a few like that too.
I'd also like some really nice storage. At the moment all my cross stitching stuff is in the footstool that goes with the sofa. I'd like to free that space up but I'm a bit weird in that I have to have all my stitching stuff together in one place. If it was dotted about the house it would do my head in :o At the moment the footstool is the only place big enough to store it altogether......having said that we do have an empty suitcase or 2 that is rarely used.....hmmm, will have to chat with hubby later about that :D

. I did read about 3 things I've never done and wondered if any of you have views:

    1. Thread Heaven - I've got some somewhewre but have never used it and don't know how to. Does it really make a difference ? I'd be worried that it would leave "oily" marks on the fabric or collect dust etc.

    2. Rail-roading - keeping the threads flat and smooth by pushing your needle down between the 2 strands. Again does it make a noticeable difference and is it worth the extra time needed ?

    3. Laying tool - I suppose this gives a finish similar to the rail-roading technique ? Is it worth the £7.50 and does it take ages to do ?

    1. I have some thread heaven and it really does make a difference when stitching, particularly when using Anchor thread. I run the thread through it twice then run the thread through my fingers to get off any clumps and use as normal.
I get a lot less knots since using it and any I do get are easier to sort out.

    2. I sometimes use rail roading if the top / of a stitch just doesn't look right to me, though it doesn't always help.

    3. Never heard of it so can't comment.
