:rotfl: Eric, this site and mainly this thread is the only thing keeping me sane while I am off work. There is only so much daytime tv and dog talk one person can take :rotfl:
MMM, any item, probably an old wicker basket full of thread and fabric for me to stitch on a hill somewhere. Saves taking bags of stuff
Right now I am reading 'the hanging shed' by Gordon Ferris. It was free in the kindle store months ago but I don;t rate it much, it took ages to get to the good bit and now thats over its kinda tailing off. But I don't want to give up on it as its only half done
So update time...
7 days 14 nights -
9 days 16 nights -
I may even finish it tomorrow... However I have that lovely silver thread to stitch:mad:

So for a bit of fun, if money was no object, what cross stitching dream item would you buy ???
You know....I honestly don't know!
There's lots of smaller stuff that I have on my wishlist, but it's not money I need, it's time to stitch:rotfl:
Edited to add: I have thought of something - the storage units from storage4crafts,(as seen on pg 8 of the new WOCS) with all the plastic boxes in them for storing all my stitching and cardmaking stash, I would love them.
Oh....and a house extension so I can have my own craft roomand in other news what are you reading at the moment ?
'One Day in May' by Catherine Alliot. Tbh, it hasn't gripped me, it's seems a bit slow paced after reading all 7 Harry Potter books in May:rotfl::rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. hi everyone, very quiet here today... i'd meant to pop in but got sidelined by prep for my week at glastonbury fest.
pap your eye looks stunning.
crafty granny - sending you kind thoughts and best wishes.
ruth - fab idea! i'd love a summer house!
i've been helping out a friend for a few weeks (just emotional support and free non judgemental ranting!) whose been getting very stressed with sorting out pre-festival. then today it got worse. she was taking her dog to kennels ready for the festival and her camper van caught fire. both her and kali (cutest staffie) are fine but the van is a right-off. she'd been worrying so much about taking 5 people on site and all their kit plus other's kit (onsite vehicle pass is very hard to get), and now has no trasport at all. taxis can only go to 5 miles from the site, not even the car park, which is 2 miles. logistical nightmare. it puts things in perspective a bit. so no stitching time for me, but i can hardly complain. i might not be back online till next week... take care everyone xRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Hi all.
PAP - your eye is georgous. I can't believe how quickly you have done it. What is the finished size? Also, can't remember if it is to keep or a present. With regards to the London kits I really like the second one, I think the colour combination of mainly black tones with the red London bus will look stunning.
23rd Spiral - I hope everything gets sorted for Glastonbury.
Chicky - if money were no object I've have an extension on the house with a purpose built craft room with en-suite facilities to save that extra bit of time. If that was outside of my budget I'd love to have every DMC colour so I could just look at them.
As far as books goes I am ready Bill Brysons Tales form a Bug Country at the moment. Only reading that as left me book at home when we went away the other week and found that in a CS cheaply and my husband will also read it.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Just read my first WOXS from the £5 subscription offer. Not sure of it really as I'm not a fan of small projects. I would'nt pay full price for it but it's nice to flick through. I did read about 3 things I've never done and wondered if any of you have views:
1. Thread Heaven - I've got some somewhewre but have never used it and don't know how to. Does it really make a difference ? I'd be worried that it would leave "oily" marks on the fabric or collect dust etc.
2. Rail-roading - keeping the threads flat and smooth by pushing your needle down between the 2 strands. Again does it make a noticeable difference and is it worth the extra time needed ?
3. Laying tool - I suppose this gives a finish similar to the rail-roading technique ? Is it worth the £7.50 and does it take ages to do ?
Right, now to Flat Eric's questions (as far as I know, no relation to my Eric :rotfl:).
I too would like some decent storage for all my x-s paraphernalia. ATM it's all sorted away tidily but in a mish-mash of boxes, files and baskets. Failing that, the full catalogue of Maia designs kits(I'd need masses of storage for them alone).
Books ? I've got stack of URBs (unread books) waiting for when I have a break from x-s and gardening. I'm a fan of american murder and forensic fiction such as Patricia Cornwall and Tess Gerritsen. They seem to write more quckly than I can read !
Have a good weekends ladies :T0 -

and in other news what are you reading at the moment ?Yit's time to stitch:rotfl:
Yep, if I could buy time that would be it.
Not reading anything at the moment but just ordered VBA for excel
I don't have much to update as the chickens have for some reason been a bit slow going. Can't even blaim half stitches for that. Anyway, here are my effors from just over a week"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Thanks Ails, the finished design is 8" * 10" so not too big but the biggest piece I have ever finished. I started one about this size about 5 years ago but I lost it after doing one pageIts a wedding gift, I didn't want a wedding sampler and I think this is more what the couple would like. I am now unsure if I should stitch any writing into it of not?
Second one it is then :T I think do Alice first though as she has been sat in my drawer for years now. But I need to get the adia for her so once I finish this one I may dig out one of my kits I purchased at the craft show.0 -
