i've a few minutes whilst dinner is cooking so thought i'd join the party late and answer those questions :).
I thought since its a new thread, we should have a bit of fun thus I pose the following questions:

    1. Current project you are working on?

some little birds from CrossStitcher last month - i just need to do the backstitching.

    2. Favourite project (either stitched or awaiting to be stitched?)

'What Would Delia Do?' - i charted it myself and it still makes me smile.

~ i can't wait to start a small house sampler for our new house - but i'm waiting till all the paperwork is in place so i dont jinx it.

    3. Your favourite cross stitch magazine (nb do you subscribe?)

Cross Stitcher. I dont subscribe, i just buy when i can justify it and there's more than one thing in it i want to stitch.

    4. best stitching gadget?

my metal snips - i love them because they work well and they are the same design stitchers have been using since medieval times :D. i got them at a medieval fair in a lovely leather holder.

    5. french knots - hate or love ?

hate till i manage one then love... then hate again!

    6. Favourite theme to stitch (i.e. pooh / tatty ted / HAED etc)

i like samplers, and things that look like sort of 'primitive american' if you know what i mean... kinda like this: http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=50325&ww=1 , which i'm thinking of buying.

i'm not really into cartoon characters, though loved sitching the Elf for the quilt we did last year. and if i ever 'stitch a star' my other half might disown me! :rotfl:

    7. aida or evenweave ?

aida, i've not tried evenweave, but have only really been stitching a year so i'm ok with that. i will try one day.

    8. favourite needlecraft supplier ?

"Knit or Sew" in Rushden, Northants. it often advertises in Cross Stitcher, and is a lovely little shop ran by a really nice lady whose very helpful.

Well have my new specs so sewing alot easier now... seen the tablecloth my mum is doing and am green with envy....(its all back stitch LOL) then saw some stunning pictures of autumnal trees very big too but could not quite justify the expense :( so keeping an eye out for a chart in the UK rather than the US.
Finished the doves just need to sew them together then onto the next bit, though have more of the cushion cover to do than I remembered and not sure where I have any of the varigated pink left to finish the roses. (I Will try and post pictures tonight/tomorrow on F).
And just found out a friend is expecting her first baby in May so need to find and complete that (though have some time to select and sew so not too bad)
Just feeling a bit lost dropped my OH at the airport to return to Spain, next visit will be down to the whims of his and my work :(

Can't believe how many new stitchers have joined us recently. I bet there's loads more reading but not posting yet, so come on...don't be shy! Introduce yourself & jump in. We don't bite. In fact, we're really nice-especially when plied with chocolate.

I've started my Princess Palace cut thru. Spent new years eve gridding with the washable pen, then looked at it from a distance and felt thoroughly overwhelmed when I realised all those grids are 100 stitches!!! Are there are A LOT of gridded squares. :(
But, I *will* do this. It's gonna be great once it's starts taking shape. I only got to start at 6pm so not got much done tonight. Hope to do a few hours tomorrow so I can take a pic of something worth looking at.

    Okay dokey.

As you can see, I'm a regular poster, but first time in the crafty section.4

DH and I both enjoy X stitiching, but don't seem to make heaps of progress ~ little people and all that. I'm a bit of a quick fix gal, I like to start and finish in a sitting.

I don't really grasp the differences in count. I'd like to use waste and stitch patterns on me trousers, and maybe extend to larger projects like cushion covers. But, I don't want to get fed up with slow progress and end up with umpteen different things on the go, and nothing being finished.

Anyhoo, that's enough rambling from me, I shall return to see what you're all up to.

    By the way, what's evenweave?
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

No though I have watched the progress of the stitch with interest as it looks soooo difficult to keep going on with, thik would definatley have to invest in a pen to mark out the squares as have never marked them out before.
might be the reason that sometimes the air turns a tad blue when stitching!!!
  • 23rdspiral - what are the prices like in the shop in Rushden, is it cheaper than hobbycraft? I don't live too far away and I have no good stitching shops here, so might pop in if it's worth it.

My backstitch on Noah's Ark is finished now, so getting there at last. Now I'm just going to have to wait until my frame gets here before I stitch anymore. I don't want to start anything else before that's finished or I'll never go back to it! The break from stitching will allow me to spend some time on all the scrapbooking goodies I got for christmas though :)

another day with no stitching :( but I did settle on the sofa with the cat for a snooze this afternoon :rotfl: and then watched the xmas day poirot so overall its been a relatively relaxing day - had family round for dinner but easy to prep so not much effort involved.

Tomorrow is my last day off from work  where has all that lovely time off gone ?

    :(

I'm going to make a soup tomorrow and sort out my commute to work project. This might be the eeyore bookmark kit my friend gave me for xmas or perhaps the free kit that I got with Cross Stitch Card Shop.

I will also try to start another cat on my row of cats design and perhaps watch the Marple I have recorded this evening.

I have already booked leave in 2011, some of which is solely for cross stitch:T:T:T. I suppose I shall be glad to get back to work but will miss the stitching time but will try to make Saturday stitching day and try to do more stitching in the evenings if I'm not too tired.

I'm looking forward to getting my Mr Men kit. I have so many projects to do - I don't know which to start first :rotfl:

Thanks so much for the suggestions & links everyone. I'm going to have a proper look at everything tomorrow when I'm more awake. I think I'm either going to go for a star, or maybe some form of transport. Car, truck or train, possibly.
