  • Well better late than never so Happy New Year everyone _party_. Me and OH toasted it in with ginger beer and cream soda respectively, then went outside and watched the fireworks and what must have been about 200 lanterns float over. We saw a couple of people walking past and wished them a happy new year but they didn't seem bothered. Nobody else was out....odd....Anyway....... Got the motivation to do some stitching last night and have now started on another of the figures on the Gracious Era - at this rate it might be done for Christmas 2011! Now I have a question to ask. A couple of years ago OH bought me one of those posh needlecraft lamps - the ones with the gold lamp and white glass shade that you can get either floor standing or smaller. Well to be quite honest I've stopped using it to stitch with as the bulbs keep blowing in it. I was literally putting a new one in and it blew, replacing it and the same happened. We've checked the fuse in the plug and we're getting the correct bulb for it at nearly £20 a throw from Hobbycraft and yet it still kept blowing. None of the other lamps we've got in the house do it so I'm sure it isn't our electricity and I've also tried it in different plugs as well. I now don't use it at all. Has anyone else had anything similar and if so how did you resolve it. It seems a shame as it wasn't cheap and it just sits there on the bookcase all the time. Many thanks.
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

I had a lamp that was always blowing bulbs like that it had a loose wire at the bulb end .

did a few stitches earlier then son daughter ,daughter in law and 4 more grandchildren arrived for tea. 2 grandsons decided they were going to stay until tomorrow so not sure how much more i'll get done .

Hope this year is happy and healthy for you all.

My January challenge will be to finish the birth sampler and to stitch two cards. I'm going to try and do at least two cards each month so I have some ready for when I need one!

I'm not going to join the Dictionary or Cut Thru SAL as I'm afraid I don't like either :o

But I'll join you with my sampler!

    Happy 2011

Been to see my olds soggy bungalow and warm dry little flat and they are both coping really well. They have been lucky in the snese that their insurance company have been fab with them so far and although the bungalow is still very wet they have stripped a lot of stuff out but have a long way to go. I feel a lot happier having seen them in situ and knowing where they are has settled any anxieties I had.:)

Not going to join in the cut through stitch-in cos have many many other UFOs to be getting along with and have promised myself I'll get them done so got to or wil have to tell myself off:rotfl:January challenge progressing well but back at work Tuesday so stitching time goes downhill from then on:(

Well sadly I only managed to stitch the marble next to the Ling Ling cat today (also stitched apart from his white belly and the back stitch)

I just wasn't in a stitching mood and knew I would make mistakes.

I am hoping to get an earlier night than last night though:o and a better night's sleep so hope to settle down tomorrow (once dinner is prepped) and stitch a bit more.

I have managed though with a bit of jigging of my easy clip frames to get the aida into a frame albeit there is not much spare at either end :( but it just about works and I have also tried the frame in my daylight stand my OH bought me in the summer which works really well :j

as I posted yesterday, I have treated myself to the Mr Men numbers sampler kit and I would like to think I could resist buying any more kits during 2011 as certainly with the projects I have lined up, I don't need anymore.... but I know that as soon as sewandso update their site for January, I will be browsing with avid interest and will find it very hard to resist buying anything if I see something I like. Similarly if something appears in Cross Stitcher or World of Cross Stitcher I like.

Just out of interest, do any of you do the monthly sewandso prize draw and have any of you ever won it ??? I have done it on and off for years and haven't won yet ! I'm guessing someone wins. Its funny really because sewandso obviously appreciate that once a stitcher see something they like, they want it asap :D hence their usually dispatched within 24 hours policy but why can't they improve other aspects of their website ???

I love the cut tru and may do one when this little boy bump is actually here and older, but as we are going for a Jungle Book theme I don't think one would fit in with decor of room yet.

My Jungle Book one is coming on well, I have Baloo nearly finished, just wee fittery bits to do on him..eyebrows and claws...Hopefully get that done tonight and start the water around him.

Need to figure out how to upload photos on here...lol
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)

Thanks for all the hugs they really helped, we can now think about Jenny without bursting into tears. Our other dog has realised she is gone too, so has been a bit sad, she is getting lots of attention and will be fine soon. I havent done any stitching all week, we have been having a massive clearout trying to take our minds off Jenny.

Happy New Year to all, good luck with any challenges/resolutions you have set yourself.

I posted this on the Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/57019223@N05/5306603435/in/pool-1577253@N21/

and t4mof commented on it, saying they'd look out for the design. It's from a magazine and I'm sending a ;) to someone else. If t4mof is on here, let me know :D

Can I join x stitch cafe? I have been loitering on this site for a while and have finally plucked up the courage to register and join! I have recently got back into stiching, sewing and knitting and have quite a few projects to do.

My aim is to finish a 60th birthday sampler for MiL's birthday in Feb then black lab for mum's birthday in March.

Can't believe how many new stitchers have joined us recently. I bet there's loads more reading but not posting yet, so come on...don't be shy! Introduce yourself & jump in. We don't bite. In fact, we're really nice-especially when plied with chocolate.

I've started my Princess Palace cut thru. Spent new years eve gridding with the washable pen, then looked at it from a distance and felt thoroughly overwhelmed when I realised all those grids are 100 stitches!!! Are there are A LOT of gridded squares. :(
But, I *will* do this. It's gonna be great once it's starts taking shape. I only got to start at 6pm so not got much done tonight. Hope to do a few hours tomorrow so I can take a pic of something worth looking at.
