    Okay dokey.

    As you can see, I'm a regular poster, but first time in the crafty section.4

    DH and I both enjoy X stitiching, but don't seem to make heaps of progress ~ little people and all that. I'm a bit of a quick fix gal, I like to start and finish in a sitting.

    I don't really grasp the differences in count. I'd like to use waste and stitch patterns on me trousers, and maybe extend to larger projects like cushion covers. But, I don't want to get fed up with slow progress and end up with umpteen different things on the go, and nothing being finished.

    Anyhoo, that's enough rambling from me, I shall return to see what you're all up to.

    By the way, what's evenweave?

    How nice that you share this hobby! The count size relates to how many squares in each inch of fabric. 14 count (ct) is 14 squares for every inch. The higher the number, the more squares per inch, so the smaller the design is.
    Evenweave is a finer fabric and for most designs the cross stitches are worked over 2 holes, as opposed to one. So a design stitched on 28ct evenweave (if you stitched over 2 squares) would be the same size as something stitched on 14ct if you stitched over one square. I hope this makes sense!
    As you mentioned a cushion cover & you say you like to finish things quickly, how about looking for something in a 'chunky cross stitch'? This might well be stitched using wool instead of embriodery floss, but would work up quickly. Like this...

    Or you could try something like this...

    I finished this in one day. The kit came with the cushion cover ready made up (I can't sew *at all*) and all you do is the cross stitch bit, then pop in the cushion pad (included). I think it was £20 from The Nimble Thimble.

    No though I have watched the progress of the stitch with interest as it looks soooo difficult to keep going on with, thik would definatley have to invest in a pen to mark out the squares as have never marked them out before.
    might be the reason that sometimes the air turns a tad blue when stitching!!!

    Same company, though! :) When I bought mine, they were doing a 3 for 2 offer. Better value now, by the looks of it. It's HUGE though and although all full stitches and no backstitch to deal with, the colour changing is a nightmare. When I started stitching mine, I hadn't heard of the pens. I had the chart photocopied & was colouring the symbols in different colours as I stitched. Still very tricky though and it's so close to finishing that there's no space to mark out squares. It does look fab though. Oooh, just thought...Celtic Rose Needlecraft do a lot of autumn scenes. You might find something cheaper on there. The chart you linked to is gorgeous, btw! My Mum & Grandma loved going out to New England to see the fall colours. I think Mum might go back this autumn, but it will be hard for her without Grandma.

    Right! I really am off to bed now. Been a long day & my eyes are getting itchy. Night all! x

    <snipped out your pics>

    Looking good :)
    That is one I would most certainly like to do myself actually!
    I <3 Tigers!

    I am working on a project that I last touched in 2005 :eek: and even then I hardly done anything to it lol, but I am not going to post pics of my progress as it's a pattern that is printed on to linen and I feel like I am cheating somewhat LOL

    So as soon as I am done with that I will pick up another UFO that was last touched again in 2005 and finish it off as there is probably just under half of it left to do! {See pic. below.}

    I've never stitched a design that is pre-printed onto the fabric. It sounds god for not needing to follow a chart and therefore good for stitching in front of the TV - but I have tis idea in my head that I wouldn't like it. What is eveyone's thoughts on pre printed fabric fr cross stitch?

    It's not too bad, but you do have to keep checking the chart still for colours and how many threads etc.

    It's not too bad, but like I said, I feel like I am cheating somewhat lol but it's a good start of getting back in to stitching, like I am doing!

    Soulie I have the same tiger kit as you. It has been an UFO of mine for AGES. I think I made a mistake on it but I couldn't find where I had gone wrong. I would love to finish it one day. Best of luck with yours:D
