...but then I thought of B&Q... they had normal or carpet strength! so i bought normal but at 3.70ish and an hours round trip i'm still not too happy with my OH for taking the only shed key:mad:.

Perhaps while in B&Q you should've bought another padlock for the shed with several keys! ;):D

I tried to do this also - change from a knitting mag to Cross Stitch Collection and whilst it let me change it in my account, I got an e-mail this week telling me I couldn't because I had paid with Tesco vouchers.

I have also been lent an e-reader so have been trying that - are fellow cross stitch peeps for or against e-readers ? I still can't make up my mind.

Mag subs-I only got an email telling me because I complained!

Ereaders-I have a Sony pocket ereader & I bought DH a Kindle for his birthday last November. I love the Sony because it's pink(:)) and I can 'rent' library books from the local online library for free. Great for travel guides!

The Kindle is fab because Amazon are reducing the price of the kindle books to lower than paperbacks (no VAT on books, but there is on ebooks-crazy!) & they often have some decent freebies too. I have the kindle app on my ipod touch, which is great for reading in bed when DH is sleeping because the ipod is a screen, so I can read without disturbing him.
I have a Kindle and I love it! DH bought one a few months ago - I was against them before I got to try his out....3 days later I had ordered my own! Me and DH are both bookworms (he has worked in libraries for the past 16 years, not that liking books is a prerequisite) but while he has got rid of most of his paperbacks I still like to have my absolute favourite books in 'tree book' format, so still have quite a few on my shelves.....

I am exactly the same with my 'tree books'! All my faves I want as 'books'. Sophie Kinsella, Marian Keyes, Chris Manby...
I do it with CDs & MP3s too. I need all my Kylie & Bon Jovi on CDs. I'm odd like that! :rotfl:

Issue 178 arrived this morning, but no sign of your Banksy stitch - will keep an eye out next issue :)

Probably a bit soon. Maybe next issue, though... Thanks for checking!

Further to your post above and my post also - I woke up this morning to an e-mail welcoming me to Cross Stitch Collection and thanking me for taking out a subscription - first direct debit payment will be taken in early June  Huh  I simply requested to change the mag I was receiving not start a new subscription ? I haven't authorised my direct debit payment either so I am not sure what they are playing at - I have e-mailed them. Thats made me grumpy for a sunday morning (well not really but has somewhat annoyed me!)

You really have to watch the xs mag people. I find out of all the magazines I've subscribed to over the years, the stitching ones employ the most idiots! They really do make A LOT of mistakes & you need to chase up everything. Obviously we're a patient lot because they're still in business-although they've now lost mine! I would rather use my Tesco vouchers for train tickets now, instead of a magazine which has changed so much I barely recognise it.

    Hello everyone,

Sorry to just butt in after not posting for ages, but I just wanted to say please don't buy the Joan Elliot book off Ebay!

It was only £9.99 in the shops and Joan is livid that people are ripping others off by inflating the price so much. She has put the contact details for the publisher on her blog here: http://joanelliott.wordpress.com/2011/05/18/some-boo-a-zine-contact-info/
they may do a second run if there is the demand for it so if you want a copy it wouldn't hurt to send them an email.

I'm still working on my DD2's birth sampler and progress has been slow what with unpacking and my DD1's refusal to sleep but she finally got her place at nursery last week so we're getting into a nice routine where she goes to bed at a decent time which should mean lot's of stitchy time for me but I need to retrain myself into getting up at 7.30 instead of 9ish :o so it's been early nights for me :rotfl:
I'll post a pic when I can figure out how to get pics on to flickr from my blackberry :o

    xxxx

P.S. Chicky, Noah is gorgeous and is making me want a third more than ever :D

I really like my Kindle. Easy to turn pages while holding a cup of tea :D I got couple of classics from Am@zon for free. Just don't know when I am going to read them.

Ollie is almost ready. Just need some flowers and backstitch. I am at lost what I am going to do next. I was going to do that little bird but it is full of half stitches so I am not really looking forward to that. And then there is the three chickens thing for my friend which has lots of french knots. Oh decisions, decisions. And then there is always the Old McDonald to do for DD, or the big tapestry kit that I managed to start with few stitches. Or the baby present for my colleague. Hmmm. Why don't I want to do any of those?

Anyway, I need to find one of my patchwork books to get the design done to make the Woodland Folk animals into wall hanging. I am thinking of pink hearts, lilac butterflies, green trees and orange borders. I have found good patterns for the hearts and trees but still looking something for butterflies. I can find loads of applique (sp?) ones but not so many block patterns.

There;s no way I would pay £35 for a book that cost £10!! It;s disgusting.

I would like one, but I'm not stupid :)

Re your blackberry, can you transfer it to PC via bluetooth or your cable, or try using snapbucket (phone version of photobucket)

NMM, your current project is fantastic. How do you cope with stitching on black aida?
Stitching on Black Aida is ok as long as you have decent light and something bright underneath. I just hate to stitch black on black as i can't see where i've stitched :rotfl:
