Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around for a bit. Nana has been taken into hospital as we found her collapsed on the floor and she couldn't get up bless her. Not really sure what's going to happen or even what's wrong with her as Doctors don't seem to know, but are doing loads of tests.
Chicky I love the pic of Noah with the huuuuuge ice cream, so cute xxMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150 -
Emma - PICK IT UP!!!! If you don't you'll regret it. I found a huge mistake on my kingfisher from one mis-count and decided it didn't exist for a couple of weeks. It's much better to sort it first then have a break from it - not the other way round!!!!Cross Stitch Cafe 2011 - no 58 :A

Sounds like a nightmare Emma - at least you've found it now. If youre sure you'll have 1.5" left at the top i'd be tempted to leave it and just make sure the aida/linen is bound securely so that it won't fray at all. When it's framed a mount will give you any extra you want between the stitching and the frame. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have worked it out right and don't need to start unpicking today.
I picked up the kingfisher from the framers yesterday - got it home, very excitedly undid the brown paper it was wrapped in to have a peak only to find 2 chips in the frame so I had to get straight back in the car and wait there while he made another frame. At least it's sorted now!
....Tried to do some stitching in the garden yesterday afternoon - was all going well when next doors kids realised I was outside. I'm not a kid person but those 2 seem to like me (more than likely 'cos I give them cupcakes from time to time!). Anyway, they wouldn't leave me alone and I didn't get a minutes peace for about the next hour. Today I plan to be strategic about outdoor time and wait until I see them leave the house then come in again when they get back (or hide the chair directly behind the shed and be as quiet as possible!!!!!).
Hope you all get to enjoy the sunshine at some point today xxx
this made me lol, somebody said to me the other day when i was moaning about some naughty kids, but i thought you loved kids, my reply was no i love mine nobody elses lol

No Maria - think their mum is happy to not have to deal with them! ...managed a quick snooze then they decided to wake me up with their water pistols - ARGH!!!!
No stitching done today as we're off to the inlaws for a long weekend but my ebay business has boomed in the last few days so I am completely manic right now!
Taking the Mackintosh tile to the inlaws to sit and stitch in the garden. Will post updates next week.
Hope you all have a lovely Easter (and please... don't write too much!!!!).Cross Stitch Cafe 2011 - no 58 :A

Umm was after your help if thats ok ?
Does anyone know a cheap place to buy magnets to put your cross stitch in? I preferably need rectangular magnets - (I'm waiting for the mag with the designs in so can't be specific on size).
The only place I have found is Framecraf t but the rectangular magnets retail at £1.75 each  Considering I want to stitch lots of these (the designs are diet themed and I want to stitch them for my the slimming world class I go to - for the slimmer of the week basket), this is looking to be a pricey projectthat I might have to abandon before I start!
Secondly I am stitching a bookmark for a friend's special birthday. The design in the mag was actually made into a card, not a bookmark and I am using aida material that has blue scallop edging down the side. Once the bookmark is finished - what should I do to finish it ? Should I put cardboard behind it and felt (to cover the back)? or should I just get a clear plastic bookmark cover and stick it in that (with the back of the stitching visible?) If I do the cardboard and felt option - I presume I would need to stitch this rather than glue?
Finally I thought I would just let you all know that I started stitching my xmas cards yesterday!!
ps what is everyone's easter project?0 -

morning everyone
I am officially trying to come out of lurkerdom I have posted a handful of times and been given some really useful advice. I feel like I know everybody and am a bit scared to join in which sounds silly now I have written that! Anyway I am going to try part of my new years resolution is to try and find some confidence in myself so maybe talking online will help.
I have finally finished my biggest UFO a baby afghan that has been hanging around for the last three years so I have tried to join the flicker group to put some photos on.
Now I am planning my next projects for the year in some kind of realistic order. I am just wondering how stitching as gifts is received in your experience. None of my friends/ family are interested in anything crafty at all so I am wondering how well received a stitching gift would be. I would like to make things for people but am slightly worried that they would not be appreciated but that could be my low confidence.
And finally after all that wittering the people who I promisedto they will be sorted soon I promise

Hello (Are you Sophie or Emily!) and Welcome xx
I think most people appreciate hand made things. THey know that they take a long time, and that they have been specifically thought of.
E.g. I got my mum Eden Project tickets and a little butterfly freebie cross stitch thing from one of the mags for Mother's Day. She said "thanks" for the tickets and the butterfly made her cry - saying that "this is really special". (OK, she's a bit mad, but you get what I mean I hope)
Keep posting xx0
