Hi guys sorry I havent been on for a long time - welcome all new members and a big congratulations chicky. Had a pretty !!!! time of things lately. I still have some cross stitch mags I dont need and have a few pms about them so i will have a look in a minute and send the first person a pm, if you dont get a pm im sorry. the things people are working on at the mo are fantastic. I am currently trying blackwork for the first time, it looks lovely but is more boring than cross stitch. This is the one im doing but i have replaced the fabric with an opalescent white:

That is lovely Bubbles - welcome back:)
Have decided to go for it today as my back now only seems bad if I stay still for more than 5 minutes - I can even hoover and do the gardening with relatively little pain but sit and watch tv and I'm crocked for ages. Watched my team lose (just) on tv yesterday and stood up to watch the whole thing while stitching which felt very strange!
So today is shower (standing up) ds gym (walk to McD's and get a hot choccy for me and dd while he does flips etc), ds/dd and me to crafty saturday for half an hour (stood up to avoid ouch) then St Georges day event in park (walking round and standing up) then back home for tea and housework (keep on moving).Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Hi, I'm finally back online
Hope everyone has been ok, it's been so strange not having this thread to read.
There seems to have been about 25 pages  since I was last online, so I haven't had time to catch up, but I'll sit down and have a read at some point!
Congratulations Chicky!!! :j:j:j:j
Hope you and baby are still doing well, that is such a cute picture! It's nice to be able to log back on and see such good news
We're all settled in the new house, and it's lovely being in a village. It's so quiet and peaceful here that we can hardly believe how much nicer it is than our last house. And everyone stops to say hello which is a big change!
Hope everyone is having a lovely Easter Weekend, it's absolutely scorching here0 -
Great to see you back Bubbles. That blackwork piece looks lovely, can't wait to see your version when it is finished.
Great work Marru, you have made some super pieces. Glad you found your camera, we love piccies here.
Still not done any x-stitching...but I have got about a third of the way through my HUGE ironing pile...will do more tonight, then again tomorrow. Need to find some more of my summer tops..I am pretty sure they are at the bottom...been there since last year!!

Are you a Saints fan or was it a game with the wrong-shaped ball?
Yes I am a Saints fan - and hate losing to Wigan, but at least I don't work in Wigan anymore so I won't be taunted at work next week!Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Ok.....i need to confess....I am a long time cross stitch cafe lurker :-) I have decided to come clean and stand up and be counted so to speak! Your posts about UFO's have inspired me to tackle the mountain of free cards etc that i had lurking in my craft bag, as well as to (nearly) finish a forever friends wedding x stitch-was supposed to be a wedding gift for my sis, but am now doing it for their 1st anniversary in june! Then i need to complete my twins' birth samplers (twins are now 3 and a half-ooh the shame of confessing this.....the 2 cross stitches are still in the bags!) On the upside, as i said your posts have got me to finish 4 mini kits i got with mags, nearly finish the wedding one, and finish my elder sons birth sampler (he is now 6 lol! Was tad embarassing, as id finished my eldest son's (9yr) one by the time he was 3, so my poor 2nd son's was double that length of time!),
I think some of my prob is that i start a big project (birth samplers etc) get bored, and put them away for a month or so, then go back to them etc. Also in the meantime i do a jo verso name sampler for friends childrens christenings etc and then my kids works get left. i seem to work better to deadlines for other peoples events rather than my own! Oh and the tiny little thing called work takes up the rest of the time!
Anyway, i promise to finish wedding sampler by june 11th, then do a jo verso name one as a gift by june, then to tackle 1 of the twins' birth samplers.
Can i ask a quick question as well, many of your works are framed so beautifully, do you do it yourselves or send to a framer (local/postal). I have had a couple framed at a framers and they did look fab, but the cost implication does mount up (sorry about the pun!), so recently ive been getting a mount and frame and putting it in myself-looks good but not as professional. Just wondered what your take on it all was.
Ooh, just thought i should introduce myself properly. Clare, married, from london, mum of 4 boys (3 was supposed to be the magic number, but the scan showed twins!), work part time as a nurse. Constantly tired and not doing as much cross stitch as i should!!Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.
Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞0
