Enjoy Easter bankholiday weekend everyone! i'd love to keep stitching but we're doing serious DIY and possibly even moving (!my idea, not his!).
however, i can report i've broken the drought and picked up the courage to do more lettering on my cousins wedding sampler - i've done all the 'top half' (where i could just stop if you remember) but want to carry on. i just hope i have time to complete the bigger version now!chickywiggle wrote: »:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
we'll we went for ice cream......
:j so cute!! :T(hide behind the shed and be as quiet as possible!!!!!). actually the privacy was awesome as our current patio yard is open to all the neighbours along our little terrace and the one at a right angle to it.

oh dear. i'm sending good wishes for her health (i get quite sad when nan's are ill, so please do update us)
Thank you so much Mrs MbK. I'll check the chart as i'm not sure how much it needs. i've never tried metalics before. (:o cheesy and kitch as it is, i really want to sitch the royal wedding swallows and bunting sampler from Crossstitcher. though i might eventually put our names on it instead!)
Hi Dora, nice to see you again. i hope you find some comfort soon. i guess stitching standing up at a counter wouldnt help much? you be all the grumpy you need to be, pain is horrible. *hugs*
Louise - thanks for the great tips re not stitching in squares (not that i ever do, i'm too chaotic for that! but i'm reasured i'm not doing it wrong) and the bookmark (iron on interfacing - geneius!:T)

??? do you/anyone have any advice about stitching a keyring? i've bought a blank one from my local craft shop and want to make one for our new house keys. obviously the aida needs to fit the hole, (i guess i measure and cut carefully), but do i back it? how will it stay in there?Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Start with a piece of fabric larger than your keyring, and stitch your design (do you have one in mind?) bearing in mind that the larger the 'count' the more detailed a design you can have (I know you know that, but mentioned it in case any new stitchers are reading) :j
Then use the iron on interfacing and cut to perfectly fit after that. It means you're not faffing about with tiny bits of fabric then having to trim a second time The back of the keyring should snap firmly enough to keep it in place.
In saying that - you don't actually have to back it, a thin piece of fabric would work just as well, but I find the interfacing makes the aida stiff and prevents any crinkles over timeCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. If these are still going I wouldn't mind taking them off your hands.
Hi Kez - yes these are still available - if you PM me your address I'll pop them in the post to you.23rdspiral wrote: »

Just send me a PM with you address and I will post the madeira thread to you - I've just looked at the chart myself and I have some of the DMC metallics too so I will add some of that. Metallics give a nice look to a piece of work, but they can be a pain to deal with! I've found that Thread Heaven helps and also knotting the thread to the eye of the needle.
Happy holiday stitching everyone and hugs to all that need them.0 -

I am officially trying to come out of lurkerdom I have posted a handful of times and been given some really useful advice. I feel like I know everybody and am a bit scared to join in which sounds silly now I have written that! Anyway I am going to try part of my new years resolution is to try and find some confidence in myself so maybe talking online will help.
I have finally finished my biggest UFO a baby afghan that has been hanging around for the last three years so I have tried to join the flicker group to put some photos on.
Now I am planning my next projects for the year in some kind of realistic order. I am just wondering how stitching as gifts is received in your experience. None of my friends/ family are interested in anything crafty at all so I am wondering how well received a stitching gift would be. I would like to make things for people but am slightly worried that they would not be appreciated but that could be my low confidence.
helloo
i stitch a lot of gifts (well did) - gave my mum her "grandparents touch a heart" piece yesterday and she loved it.... tho framing was a rush job (ironed/ cut and framed while cooking tea, squeak was shouting at me and she was amusing DS1 in the garden) so no up to date piccy!
i find my family appreciate but i wouldn't bother for friends unless I knew them reallly well.... i.e. i have done my 2 besties a wedding sampler and birth sampler each as i know they'll like them (or not be rude enough to say to my face if they don't). :rotfl:
right squeak wants his brekkie i think.... an hour after telling mummy it was getting up time cause he was hungry!!
DS1 and DH still in bed!! justttt gonna go get mummy some millionaire shortbread!! (well that appears to have vanished into thin air so have a flapjack.... woop!!)
went to a farm yesterday and had to share this..... i sure hope none of you grew up around animals!!loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

You know that my camera has been missing since my move. Today DD bullied me to fix her toy squirrel. So I reached for my sewing box and accidently opened the wrong one, meaning the one that doesn't have my sewing threads in. And would you believe it - that is where my camera was
Now I just need to find the lead
Found it!!! :j so here goes:
Finished and framed Cocer Spaniel - heading to the post office tomorrow to be sent to my friend as very belated wedding present
Sally Squirrel finished - will be part of wall hanging one day
Toby Fox finished and also going to the wall hanging
Bert Badger waiting for his back stitch:
And finally the Border Collie progress as of today:"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
