Sc00bie - I love the Santa! Is the missing French knot near the bottom leaf on the left in the close-up? That's the only place I can see where it might be and I have OCD!

23rd - Crying in the toilets is fine! I agree with sweetcarer about the people in here. When I had breast cancer in 2006, in between my initial trip to the doctor, through numerous tests and ops to finally having the big op and then being told they'd all got it, everyone thought I was fine, but I was sometimes crying in the toilets and in bed too. I wish I'd known everyone on here then as well.

Marru - I like the second one best as a picture but I think the first one is much more apt.

sweetcarer - of course you're worth it! Don't be saying that you're not, as we all know better :)

i've been trying to come up with an idea for a mothers day card for a few days now and it's just not happening so i thought i might stitch something.

does anyone have anything I could use on a mothers day card? It would have to be something simple as i have 2 to do in just over a week thanks to my indecisiveness! :(

I find the Mouseloft cards are quick to stitch and they have a good range of designs. Hobbycraft sell them, as well as Across Town stitching (also try their ebay site).
Oh Ruth Honey it's not going well at yours this week. Hope things start looking up soon. A duvet day sounds good.

Had a long lie in, DH watched Moto GP from Sunday & we had a 2nd attempt at making the pie that caused the trouble last night! Pie was good & all fingers still there. He got the dressing changed at the Drs & will be back at work tomorrow.

    Any advice?

Psst don't tell her, she is in these forums but I don't think she comes to visit this Cafe.

I like the first one too. They seem like friendly hens! :D

Oh Ruth Honey ouch !!!!! I hope he is ok, sending lots of hugs :grouphug:

Its interesting that the debate about the changes to Cross Stitcher continue. I wonder whether they monitor cross stitch forums and know how people feel? Certainly their page on facebook got a bit heated a month or so back?

I hadn't appreciated just how much the magazine had changed until just yesterday - I said at the weekend that I was looking to stitch an anniversary card - well I found a nice design in a Cross Stitcher magazine from September 2004. Whilst commuting home yesterday (and the bus being so busy I couldn't stitch :mad::mad::mad::mad:) I browsed the magazine and I was struck by just how much cross stitch was in the magazine compared to the current issues.

I don't know if any of you remember Quick n Easy Cross Stitch -well I used to subscribe to this mag until that magazine ceased publication and in its place they published a mag called Stich n crafty ???? ( or something along those lines). That magazine didn't last long.....

I'm still waiting for my latest issue of Cross Stitcher - it was in the shops yesterday so I phoned up to find out where my subscription copy was only to be told that there had been a delay in sending them out. :(. I am hoping it will be waiting for me tonight when I get home. I will be having a proper browse of it and then think a letter might have to be written - I have subscribed for many many years yet I don't get any free gift because the subscription simply continues via direct debit so there is no actual renewal date. There was also no contact from them when they were deciding to make changes to the magazine to see what I thought because surely it would have been worth consulting those subscribers who have subscribed for years on end? World of Cross Stitching (I think this is the best cross stitching magazine on the market now) have a reader panel - I am pretty sure cross stitcher don't ??

God, I can waffle! sorry! in stitching news, I am stitching my first project on evenweave :j its coming along nicely (doing the border at present !! In the evening though, its difficult to see the holes...

I remember Quick & Easy. It was a good magazine before they changed it. I had a birthday message printed in there for my Mum for her 50th.

I noticed how much Cross Stitcher has changed when I was browsing through some old mags yesterday. I know some people do like the new format (no-one I know, mind you!) but there's too much focusing on how to make things up into 'different' things. This issue is the best of the new style in my opinion. There's 2 things I might actually stitch in it-as opposed to nothing, or one small thing. I like the cupcakes and I like the campervan/caravan/beetle/bike design. My issue only arrived this morning, BTW.

Are you enjoying stitching on evenweave? I think it's a lovely fabric to work with. Linen on the other hand...

Didn't do any stitching today because I cut my thumb whilst framing the Fairies for Mums birthday. Didn't realise I had cut it until I saw blood on the fabric
I managed to wash it off with cold water and a little hand soap so it's ok. Just waiting for it to dry off now so I'll take pics tomorrow.
I finished a puzzle instead and have already got a new one lined up for next time :D

Oh no! Not you too! Apparently the best thing for getting blood out of stitching is saliva. Honestly...

i dont think i said, but yesterday was aweful for me. the house move date is pushed back again :( and HR had called me in on an annual leave day but not turned up . it all got a bit much - our admin lady whose lovely found me in a pile of tears in the toilets. i do have times of depression, but i really dont think that was the cause - no huge gaping hole in my chest, simply upset and frustration. doing that's really not like me. i havent cried in the toilets (when not drunk!) since i was a kid! and i'm not sure why i'm telling you lot, maybe its cathartic. i dont know. i'm sorry.
i know doing some stitching would help but i just can't focus.

Look after yourself, a cry in the toilets is fine but if you feel unfocused and down or empty for longer periods then please do get help. I was diagnosed with depression four years ago and last summer I thought I was in the clear and despite having been down that route before didn't recognise symptoms last October and didn't get help until now month ago. PM me anytime if you want to ask about anything.

Ok I think there is a small majority in favour of the first design, I shall order it tomorrow. Thank you everyone for your help :)

    wen-tom, thanks to Ruth-honey posting about Mouseloft, I remembered I stitched this card last year;

    photo-2.jpg

if it's suitable and you (or any one else!) want a ;) let me know! You could probably alter it to take out the trowel if she's not that into gardening.

I agree with the majority Marru, definately prefer the first one.

Ruth Honey - glad DH is ok :)

Bigs hugs to you 23rdspiral . I've had a few moments when I've burst into tears at work, I'm sure most of us have. Sometimes things just get a bit much and one little thing can set you off. I realy hope your move is sorted soon, fingers are crossed for you :)

I haven't done any more stitching tonight, too busy being distracted by the Heaven & Earth website!

    Kind wishes to all

    sweetcarer ;)

Oh Sweetcarer Don't say that as far as i'm concerned you live up to your name . You really care about everything and you are so sweet . I have never ever been anywhere and met so many friendly and welcoming people as i have on here. we have never ever met but it's like greeting family everytime i switch the lappy on.
I'm old enough to be the mother of most of you but age means nothing on here we are all made to feel equal. I don't say much about myself but i'm mostly housebound now and it's lovely to hear how you are all doing good and bad . When you all go away it's lovely to hear about where you've all been . I sound a right nutter now.

23rd spiral so sorry to hear your move has been put back yet again . Having you go into work then them not turning up is unforgivable. I'd have been upset too. I really hope you get some much needed good news soon.

    Skoobie santa is really fab.

Just on for a quick update...

I finished Santa! It only took 18 months lol

He's stitched on 25 count lugana over 2 threads using 3 strands of floss. The french knots came out ok although I can see in that detail pic that I've missed one! Can you spot it? lol

Finally here are the cards for the Great Aunts, have got quite a lot done while I've been in bed :D Am feeling much better now though so I suppose it's back to work tomorrow, boo :(

    DSC00420.jpg

Need to update my sig, my next challenge is to finish Durham Cathedral, hopefully by the end of April. I also might stitch a card for mum for her birthday on the 23rd April and I need to decide on my next big project, maybe a HAED?

Santa is gorgeous! I couldn't spot the missing french knot, so I think you're ok. Love the cards too-very sweet.

Awww, honey. Sending you hugs. Crying and telling us will help, so you go ahead. Everyone has limits and it sounds like HR not turning up just tipped you over yours.

Are you the anti-L'Oreal advert? ;) Seriously, I don't want to hear/read that kind of thing again! (stern look!) EVERYONE on here is special and wonderful and the bond we all have is very unique and amazing. And we're all to thank for that because we all make the cafe what it is. So there....:p!
