Also went into John Lewis (where I got the fabric from) and purchased a metal tin call 'A Box of Buttons' from the Cath Kidson range to keep my portable Cross-stitch kits in.

They had a green one called 'a box of threads' but I wanted to be different and preferred the blue one.
I didn't realise there was so much Cath Kidson stuff about, I knew about the gorgeous fabrics.
That's pretty and not a bad price for CK. I love unusual tins and boxes, my craft room is a mish-mash of storage containers but they do look attractive when arranged properly (and kept tidy !).0 -
OT, but I'll keep it short!
Had the quote from the bike shop today about how much it'll cost to repair DH motorbike. £1880!!!:eek::eek: So we called the idiot who knocked him off & he's already been to the bike shop with the money in cash to pay for it. :T Also asked him to pay the £40 a week for travel costs into London so DH can get to work. Hopefully this VERY expensive outcome will make him think again when he gets behind the wheel. We suspect that he wasn't insured to drive the car (it was his girlfriends) and he thinks by paying directly, he'll avoid getting done for it, but the police have his details, so if he wasn't insured, he'll get into trouble anyway.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

glad its looks to be sorted Ruth. :j Hope you and your husband have had a relaxing weekend.
Has anyone stitched a biscornu ??
Ive spotted one in World of X Stitching - it looks pretty impressive but a tad confusing !!
Going to retire to the sofa in a moment and stitch... I am in the middle of the somebunny to love kit that I am stitching as a mother's day card - I also need to start a bookmark for a friend's birthday ! then there is the new baby card.....
Out of interest, I had a browse on ebay earlier - there are few people selling cross stitch cards that they have made. What do others in the cross stitch cafe think about this ? Because the price that is being charged for the cards does not in any way reflect the hard work and effort that has gone into making them. I once agreed to stitch a new baby design but it wouldn't have been something I would normally stitch and I would never agree to such a request again (I never finished the design by the way - I just didn't have the time). There are several designs I want to stitch for friends but if the same friend turned round and said could you stitch this for me ?? then I think the answer would have to be no. (unless it was something that really appealed to me) Likewise, I don't think I would like to stitch for magazines. Do any of you do this ? I know you have to work to quite a tight deadline. I think that takes the fun out of it.
Finally (off topic), before i waffle on forever more ! I tried those graze boxes the other week and have a code for a free box / second box half price if any of you would like to try them - pm me if you do and I will let you have the code.0 -
Am still lurking, but still got no stitching done:( although I do have loads I want to be doing. Work has gone mad with lots of important visitors in asking lots of hard questions for the foreseeable future - waaaaaaaaaahMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all ok. I an a bit fed up of the knitting at the moment so did some more of Rocky point last night. I have 1 knitting disaster where the item ended up needing more wool than it said so I bought another ball, knitted the last piece, a sleeve at night and didn't realise how different the colour was so i am being philosphical about it and am looking at it as a learning project:rotfl:
The other thing I am knitting is also proving hard to sort out as the pattern is supposed to be a beginners pattern and it has one section that is badly written apparently, according to all the experienced knitters at my group so I have to take a lot of it back and re- do it.
So cross stitching is a breeze at the moment:D I think I need to update my sig seeing as it is now march and mine still says to finish rocky pint by end of JAN:eek:Cross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0 -

Hey ladies,
Just got back from the Stich & Craft show. It was great and I managed not to speand all my money!
I did spend some though, got a couple of cards kits for Christmas, a mixed pack of different aida for £7 and a mixed pack 14 DMC threads including 8 metallics for only £4.
Also got some lovely printed cottons and other bits for some sewing projects i'm working on so all in all it was a very successful day
Caroline78 - Congrats on finishing the Mr Men!
Flat Eric - I don't know if I'd ever sell any of my cross stitch, as, like you say the price would never reflect how much time we put in. For me it's all about the process of stitching and passing the time. I have a whole box full of completed designs! I think I would stitch a design if some one asked me to though, it would mean I didn't have to decide what to stitch!
Am off to try and finisht the backstitch on Santa, Happy Stitching allCross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
I have finished the doggie :j BF took a picture of it so as soon as he has emailed it to me I will put it here (I still can't find my camera). I started it on 1st of February and finished it today except that there was two weeks that I didn't touch it. Off to dig up my next project..."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Im currently stitching justin beiber from cross stitch crazy, my brother gets married on the 25th and one of my nieces to be is a huge fan so stitching that for her and a butterfly for the other one. Its quite a tight deadline though. I still have about 5 duplicate copies of cross stitch magazines if someone wants them, this includes this months cross stitch crazy minus the justin beiber page. If anyone would like them I can send them if you will reimburse the postage. when I came on here had nothing and thanks to the lovely members here I was helped to build up a small stash so its nice to give something back.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0
