I am so sorry you are getting made redundant - as you know hubby is not working too - try not to get too sad and depressed about it - I know its affecting me quite badly - I can't seem to concentrate on anything and with my transfer at work not going well I am near thumping someone. You know we are all here for you to vent at and talk to.Ruth_honey wrote: »Just popping in quickly to let you all know my replacement mirror kit from Cross Stitcher arrived today. That was quick for them & I didn't need to chase them up, which is always good.
Mine came this morning but it seems it has no mirror in it or is there a protective layer over the mirror that I can't seem to find to pull off.Rubbish news! Good luck with the job hunt. I used to be in recruitment until I escaped, so give me a shout if you want someone to look over your CV xox
I might ask you a wee favour to look over hubbys - he has only been in the UK now 4 years and only had one job.
I am still struggling to get into my cross stitch. As I said before my transfer is not going well. My uniform came in and it feels so big in places and small in others - feel the girls who ordered it did in on purpose to make fun of me. At home time tonight I was still finishing off the job book - wanted to complete before home time and they said come on hurry up thats not important - when a few days ago they were going on how to make sure it is always up to date. Lunch times are awful they let me have my lunch myself, so they both can go together and one even shouted at me not to answer the phone before start of play - we start at 8 - it was 5 to and the phone went and I thought I just answer it and get on with my job. I am looking forward to monday as I am going to another dept to help out as they are short staffed - hope it is nicer - I don't want to hate my job - I do love my job - not my fault I had to have a transfer.
SOrry for moan - hope everyone else is well in their part of the world. I am off to email family in Japan and Hawai to see if they are all ok.
Kind wishes

I'd be happy to look at your hubby's CV - I'll pm you my email address now.
The people you work with sound like idiots. Is it possible that they've heard that you're good at your job and they're jealous?0 -

Sorry, sweetcarer, I meant to say that as well0 -
thank you Craftygranny. I hope so :j
Smiley, I marked the aida along the line of the holes (does that make sense) so that I have 10 whole stitches between the lines. That way I can follow the chart quite easily as they are in blocks of 10 like graph paper so there is a bold line separating each block of 10. It's actually been quite easy to follow this way so far!
I don't usually mark my aida but this is so big that I know I would go boggle eyed if I didn't
I don't imagine for a minute that mine will be perfect but that will only make it 'mine'
Thank you Wen-tom - I have scanned my pattern so I can colour in the squares I've stitched, and I am just about to mark my aida as per your instructions. Is it wrong to be so excited?? :rotfl:
Eric's Mum, I hope your mum is ok soon and that you feel less stressed. Sweetcarer, hope your job improves. I was made redundant a four years ago from a job I hated - I had to pretend I was upset but inside I was so relieved to be away from the person who was making my life a misery, so I know what it's like to work with horrible people. Hope your family in the Pacific are OK. I have a friend in Jakarta and Indonesia is on tsunami alert, although it looks like the risk is lessening.
Hope everyone has a lovely stitchy weekend.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Mum's in hospital - update !
I got a call from a nurse to go and pick mum up, well enough to come home.I got there and realised she still looked ill and she said she'd told the doctor she didn't feel well enough to go home. She could hardly stand up and felt very wobbly and as soon as she sat down she fell asleep.
I was there for 3 hours speaking to a nurse, ward sister, occupational therapist, physio, junior doctor and finally consultant who actually agreed that it would be wise to keep her in. She has also developed a bladder infection which is making her feel ill (she is prone to them as she has a permanent catheter, nothing to do with hospital bacteria , sorry TMI).
On reflection I was a bit too "pushy" with the medics, but mum was my main concern and I needed to get to the bottom of her situation. The junior doctor said she was Ok medically but needed mobility help. The physio and occ therapist thought her mobility probs were due to her being medically ill.
Anyway mum was relieved to get back into her little bed. Hopefully she will feel brighter tomorrow0 -
Well, 3rd time lucky with this post - I keep pressing the wrong thing to download the update pic and losing the lot each time - argh!
Firstly, huge hugs to all of you. Many of you sound like you need it. I'm sorry to hear of all the bad news/situations that many of you seem to have had in the last few days.
I'm just watching about the eartquake/tsunami at the moment, it's terrible. My sister in law is out in Thailand so we were all very relieved to see the tsunami warnings get lowered for that area. We've all been concerned that she even went on her trip as she had a stroke 2 weeks before and she's only 29
Onto stitchy news... i seem to have got myself into gear and managing a few hours stitching most days. Here's an update on the Kingfisher after unpicking lots, amending the chart and redoing the messed up bit (have actually done a bit more since I took this earlier today. 4 weeks and 2 days til the MIL's birthday  Thinking of having it framed professionally so need to take that time off there too!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and get lots of stitching done xxxCross Stitch Cafe 2011 - no 58 :A

I have an abundance of i think 18 ct aida and a real love of some cross stitch designs that would be perfect form some v special cards i would like to make . the charts are for 14ct and if made on that would be 5 - 6 inches just too big for a card but i am thinknign that if done on 18 ct they would be perfect card size?
sturggling with a printed traycloth - yuck adn some little gingham charts right now and really disappointed found no ndecent cross stitch magazines in the states. Going to convince my OH to treat me to a spanish one.0 -
Hi All
Thank you all for your kind wishes.
My mum spoke to her sister who is the mother of my cousin in Japan and she has heard from him and his wife and they are ok.
My nephews mum posted on facebook to say they are all ok in Hawaii.
What is going on with the world! We have been told to expect up to 30cm of snow this weeekend.
Think I will hibernate till Monday morning.
Kind wishes to all
