    Hello!!
    No I haven't fallen off the face of the planet quite yet! Been reading the thread but haven't really had anything exciting to contribute! Thought I would finally upload some pictures of recently finished projects to prove that I have been busy! Really enjoying making birthday cards for people - gives me something to do and uses up threads and aida that I already have! Bought some cheap cards from the Works which I have been cutting the aperture out of myself to save costs and sticking some cardboard (acquired from work..!) on the back and they don't look too shabby at all!!

    Made 'Harri' for my friend who had a baby in January and decided on a name fairly quickly thank heavens! No very keen on the green R as I had to improvise (trust her to pick a name with two letters the same next to each other?!) Bit of a mad rush to get it framed as my local framers need 2 weeks and I gave them 11 days before I was going to visit her! Nearly had a shock when they told me the price though, they informed me that they had gone up but not that they had practically doubled since last time so definitely won't be using them again! Didn't really have much choice this time as it was so rushed!

    I know people have mentioned previously but duno what page it was on - what was the name of the framers that people were recommending as really need to find a cheaper - yet still good quality alternative! Didn't take a photo of the framed piece before I gave it away grrrrrrrr! Never mind!

    I love making samplers for other people but sometimes wonder whether they are appreciated? What are your thoughts?

    I`ve never been given one for a gift but would love it if someone took the time to make one for me.

    Hope to get to know you all.

    Happy stitching.
    In my experience they are all welcomed. :D
    I've so far completed 3 baby samplers and 1 Ruby anniversary sampler.

    I've made a better start on the Mr Men & Little Miss Sampler, so I'm still hopeful that I'll get it done by my cousin's birthday.

    No time for stitching till all this flippin work is done grrrrrrrr

    Hope you enjoy the stitching leave Chicky - would like the leave but not another small person! The two I have do my head in on a daily basis. Tall girl is getting 9 year old teenage strops and small boy has decided the miniscule cut on his thumb renders his entire left hand completely disabled (and don't even get me started on dh :rotfl:)

    Also unable to move from sofa as we have a new tv (one that has proper colours rather than the yellow and green screen we had before!) and we also have sky so have hundreds of channels to flick through before I decide there is nowt on

    Update: yes, i started the wedding sampler! it's in my big square roller frame and someone on here mentioned they balance theirs it against something so i got out the little ikea folding desk/table and it's great. thanks!

    Caroline - i hope you're feeling better hun? good idea to put your feet up and do some stitching. my mum had preenclampsia and it nearly killed her and me - we were both fine after an emergency C section, but it was scary for my dad.

    Charlie - the banksy cross stitch cracks me up! the idea of something 'urban' like grafitti mixed with traditional handcrafts is brilliant!

    On another non-stitching note, the jewellers rang today and said that they didn't actually have my size ring in another shop and because of the design of the ring, it can't be resized from a larger size, so they have to make it, which will take up to 5 weeks :(
    oh no! :( erm, thinking on the bright side, it'll never have been tried on by anyone else, and you can now say your fiance had it made especially for you!!:T
    23rd, I have finally got my scanner set up on this pc, I will email you later ;)
    ...
    As everything (skeins/adia) has been packged together everything now smells and I am worried it may have an effect on the life of the finished design. So it looks like I won't be starting that for another week :mad:
    Thanks!! it cheered me up on an otherwise aweful day. i dont have many DMC colours but will look up the anchor conversion chart and make it up with the random market ones i also have! - (eek that mouse is cute too!)
    ~ also i would definatly worry about the oil vapours affecting the life of your work. (preventing and managing object decay is part of my job). it depends on the kind ( i cant think of a floral oil other than zoflora being a bit oily!), but generally speaking you wouldnt want it on your cloth or threads - it could hasten fading and even potentially 'eat' through the fibres. good instincts you've got.

    ~~~
    In other news, I got my redundancy notice today. 12 weeks notice, which i guess is good. i just love my job and the people there and i'm good at it but its really specialised, so i just have so much trouble thinking of what else i could do. at least i've 12 weeks to think about it - i had thought they'd let me go at the end of March.
    I have been thinking about my future projects.
    I bought a stash of x stitch kits from closing down sale of craft shop few years back and there is one or two kits I am going to do (one to frame and gift to a friend and one to make into a cushion for me). The rest can go to fleabay.
    Then I got the Old McDonald from here that I am going to do into a cushion for DD.
    However what I really would like to do is a wall hanging of different animals with patchwork joining then together. And to practice I was thinking of doing the Woodland Folk animals for DD as a mini wall hanging before I start investing time and money for a bigger one. Might ask for a ;) for Ollie at a later date to get started. Should keep me busy for next decade or two. :D
    Just popping in quickly to let you all know my replacement mirror kit from Cross Stitcher arrived today. That was quick for them & I didn't need to chase them up, which is always good.
