  • Didn't do any stitching yesterday, however I did put quite a few of my cards together that I have stitched lately, so I'll post a photo of those shortly.

It's the sewing up of the Piglet cushion today, to finish that one off.

Then I might be able to do some stitching on Mr Men one.

PAP - loving Ollie and those chicks, so cute! :)

I'm on a roll with the stitching now, spent ages on it yesterday as DH brought himself a PS3 game (apparently it was less than half price and an absolute bargain, hmmm???). Didn't mind anyway as it means he's happy for me to stitch for hours even when he's home - provided I act as cheerleader (took him most of the afternoon/evening to finish the Bahrain GP weekend so think I'll be encouraging this game!). :j

Have now finished the whole dk blue border edge of the plate so I can do more of the filling in now.

Anyway, have a lovely stitchy day anyone who's got time.

Can i confess i have 2 freebie cover kits a bagpuss and a dog and i did exactly the same about 4 years ago. I found them in there part finished state a few days ago and wondered why i'd left them lol. Now i have lots of threads i can probably complete them. :rotfl:

I have always stitched with two threads ? I say that, I stitched with 3 when I did some Mr Men kits a few years back - stitching with 3 gave a really bold effect.

Design wise, I can't see any logic to stitching with just 1? In the european bistro kit that I bought (dimensions gold), it uses anything from 1 strand to 5 strands which I guess creates the 3D effect of the picture.

I suppose Origin tell us to use 1 strand (and supply thread for 1 strand) to save money because I guess they must make up thousands and thousands of these free kits so if they had to provide double the amount of thread then it would cost them a fair bit !

In stitching news, my tea is simmering away on the hob (lamb rogan josh curry) so an afternoon of marple and stitching awaits.

In other news, I am shocked at the news pictures coming out of Japan, it is truly uncomprehendable :( hugs to all :grouphug:

managed a few rows filling in while watching a film last night,

hope all are well, my thoughts at the moment are with those poor people who are affected by the terrible tsunami, my thoughts and prayers are with anyone who has freids and relatives out there they are worrying about. Hugs to all who need one

My somebunny to Love kit that I completed recently was one thread not two, which added to the softness of the piece.
Some update pictures for you from my putting together weekend (Thumbnails only, so click for larger pictures)

I am so sorry you are getting made redundant - as you know hubby is not working too - try not to get too sad and depressed about it - I know its affecting me quite badly - I can't seem to concentrate on anything and with my transfer at work not going well I am near thumping someone. You know we are all here for you to vent at and talk to.
thank you sweetcarer. it sounds like you're being treated very badly at your transfer. i've had times before where i've been told i'm not wanted there, but you just have to suck it up and continue. even with my current job there have been bad times (mostly due to a bully who has now left). nothing is ever perfect i guess, i'm just happier with the 'devil i know' (for want of a better phrase)

ejs2311 - your kingfisher is looking brilliant!

Update - i'm progressing nicely with the wedding sampler. wanted to post a pic but can't find my camera. happily i'm not yet hating the back stitch and i'm already 1/4 of the way through it (not including the letters).

coming home to a chicken supper bubbling away nicely in the slow cooker, after a fun, healthy and very sunny-pretty 3 hour walk with friends, followed by a couple of hours stitching, is surely one of the nicest sunday afternoon pleasures.

and then i consider it's a very cheep dinner and i'm even happier = i've a woopsied whole chicken from my freezer (woop i rememberd to defrost it!), woopsied carrots, woopsied onions, 3 week old flat cider, tarragon and reduced whole grain mustard... even with all these woopsies, i'm still managing to follow a recipie in my s/c book! to be served with woopsied roast pots too :D

i'll catch up soon, but just wanted to share my old style frugal happiness. i hope everyone else is having a nice sunday.

With my sore fingers I haven't stitched everyday so not as much progress this week as I had hoped.

    Kez. Love the piglet cushion!

I have no update to post this week as I haven't picked up my needle in over a week! Partly because I was away for a bit, but also lost my stitching mojo a bit. I will try & get something stitched this week though-even if it is something small.

I have also been asked to be godmother to my friends baby! Totally unexpected, but thrilled to be asked.
