Hi all! Just checking in quickly using the free wifi in Wetherspoons. Brighton is chilly but very sunny & we're having a nice day pottering round the Lanes. Bought some gorgeous silver jewellery but no stitch shops found yet.
Nykied-congratulations on your engagement!
Caroline-please try not to stress yourself out. I know it's easier said than done but it's not good for you or the baby.
Everyone else-have a great few days stitching and I'll chat again when I'm back!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
12/12/12 challenge-[STRIKE]Season's Greeting Newton's Law[/STRIKE] Christmas polar bear-finished on time!
Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Thanks! I did try to include you in the previous multi-quote but it didn't work
If you hit the multiquote button in the posts you want to quote it will only allow 3 quotes to go into your post.
To get around this and quote more posts in my post here's what I do.....as I read the thread and find a post I want to quote I hold down the ctrl button whilst hitting the quote button, this then opens the post I want to quote in a new window.
I carry on reading and opening quote windows as I go. Once I am done I hit the reply button at the bottom of the thread. Then I open 1 window with a quote in, copy and paste it into my empty reply then close the quote window. Keep doing this (copying and pasting) until I have all my quotes in the reply box....write my replies then submit post.
Hope that makes sense:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hi everyone,
You all look like a friendly bunch and I was wondering whether there was room for a newbie?
I've just started cross sticthing after seeing a lovely height chart that I wanted for my daughter. I'm not really very good and I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'll give anything a go. I'm getting a little be unmotivated now though - I've been cross stitching every evening for about 6 weeks.
I'm on my last bear though. Just have to do ALL the backstitch afterwards.
Any tips on keeping motivated for a first timer?
PS could somebody either post or PM me to tell me how to put pictures on to flickr as I've never done it before.
Thank you

tips for motivation..... don't leave all the backstitch till the end :Dand take regular (read every half hour) tea/ coffee and cake breaks.
flikr instructions should be on pg 1 of this thread somewhere in the first 3 posts.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

I had to read it three times, but yes, it makes sense now0 -
Caroline: you must really love him, as I don't think I would be able to put up with that attitude to me or my family.
Completed another kit today.

Some old works from when I was little. This is my cousin's birth sampler, I did this when I was 16 and it was the first sampler I completed. I hadn't taken a photo of it at the time as it never occurred to me:!

Baby tooth fairy pillow, again completed for my cousin, she's still using it now.

Smileyt - any ideas if the sale is still on - might have to force myself out of the house if it's that good!!!!
I went past the Didsbury one on the bus today and the sale notice was still up. Whether you think it's a good sale or not depends on whether they've got any of the kits you want! But I was really stunned at the markdown. I had to ask if I was in the right section because I couldn't believe they would sell those kits at 2 for £10!
On another note - has anyone here joined the Cross-Stitch Guild? I sent off for taster membership last Tuesday and a beginner's Hardanger kit. The membership stuff came on Friday but no kit. Then when I went online to access the members' area my log-in wouldn't work! I have e-mailed them but no reply. I have even contacted Jane Greenoff on her facebook page - I was a bit p****d off because I noticed she'd been online today but my online membership hasn't been sorted out! Not very good customer service. Has anyone else had similar problems?
Nykied, congratulations.
And to those whose husbands have gone astray - you have far more patience than I would have. I hope you are ok.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

well I made a start on my mammoth project. Kinkade Disney Dreams snow white.. Bigger than anything I have ever stitched.
After 1 hour I decided that I need to mark squares on my aida so I've given up and am off to buy a marker tomorrow0 -
Hello:hello: Remember me?
Am still stitching but am afraid I have been on the dark side (knitting addiction has taken hold)
I am still on my Rocky point but did rather a lot of it in Feb half term so will try and post a pic tomorrow.
Off to read back now:A
