Wow, everyones stitching is looking amazing. I've got no updates as I seem to have come to a standstill. Really need to get into gear though as DH keeps reminding me it's 5 weeks (ish) til MIL birthday and not only do I have to finish it but also frame it as well! Think getting into a mess and having to unpick loads put me off picking it up - have to really cncentrate now as I'm having to alter the pattern a bit as well so that I didn't have to unpick even more. Argh!
Going to be losing stitching time this weekend as the inlaws are coming to sat for a long weekend - lucky me!!!
Big hugs to everyone - I've just been reading back over the pages (and pages) i've missed and it sounds like most of you need them.
23rd Spiral - I know where you're coming from, I'm starting to think we've left it too late (32) but DH has decided that he's too young! (31) and we can at least wait til we're 35. What goes on in their minds!?!
Anyway, better go and attempt a bit of light de-cluttering so that I can find the bed in the spare/craft room for the inlaws to actually sleep on!

Just taken my wedding sampler to the framers. I know we still have 11 weeks to go but it was in the drawer of the coffee table and didn't want to risk any accidents. Finished two more hearts in bed last night (h2b on nights) so just have to source the luggage tags and favour bags for them to go on now and can cross them off my to do list!Married 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December

Apocosaver, congrats on passing your driving test, my OH passed his last week its a great feeling, no more lessons, you just get to drive now if hubby will let you on his insurance :rotfl: We just paid our first full insurance £808 for fully comp inc breakdown, not so bad for 1st time insurance
Update time, here is my czar progress, its really coming together now.
This was the card i made for my OH passing his test, the running joke of his driving lessons was "Monkey Hands" as he would hit the indicator stalk and turn the lights on or off :rotfl: (uhm, i know its a gorilla but it was the best i could find)

My sister is in canada for six months at the moment and I can't help noticing the HAED stockings are much cheaper there but can't see what you are getting and what you do with them if that makes sense
One of the users on here has made loads of stockings recently so I hope they are able to help you with your making up stockings question.sophieandemily wrote: »i am also considering attempting cushions any advice on them
I've made one cushion so far with a frilly edge, but I just followed the instructions included in the kit, but I've got some standard instructions which I can email to you if you pm me your email address.sophieandemily wrote: »final question for today do i need to buy a bookmark kit or can I make the shape myself out of aida
In other news, I managed to unpick my mistakes from 28th and completed LET of Piglet, just the G to go tonight and its finished! :T

Hi ladies,I hope you don't me dropping in to ask a question? I often lurk and love looking at all your projects.
I'm trying to keep busy and I picked The Art of cross stitch today. It's the first issue and only 99p. For that I got the mag, sampler, 6 needles, 6 threads, aida and a hoop.
I just wondered if it's worth subscribing to? You get a couple of issues at £1.99 with more threads a frame etc then it's £2.99. It says you can cancel but I never trust these things.
I used to cross stitch but I shared all the threads with my mum. I stay too far away so I need to start again.
I'm just wondering if it's a good route to take as a starter of I should buy kits and build up my threads etc that way?

What type of floss did you get? if it isn't a named brand (Anchor or DMC) then I would be inclined to NOT get it!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Hi Nic, personally I wouldn't sub but thats my choice. The main thing I want to ask is are the thread branded? The reason I ask is many, many charts use DMC/Anchor, if the magazine is using its own threads which can only be used on its charts you maybe stuck.
My opinion is cross stitching is a very cheap craft, needles are about £1.50 for 6, thread from 40p and adia from £3. Charts can be picked up on ebay for 99p and you can get aids (such as hoops/frames) from only £1 depending on size. So you could be stitching from under £10. Plus full kits are cheap on ebay/online which has no extra costs added to it. Once you start projects and purchasing threads they soon add up.
Whatever you decide stick arouund on this thread and share your work, it will be great to see how you are getting on0
