That looks great Ruth, it seems a few of you are coming along well with the SAL. I'm starting to regret putting mine away already!

I'm quite irritated with my hubby. He doesn't want me to stitch him a valentine's card, and I really wanted to do a cute teddy and heart design I found. He is such a humbug about things like that. He can't be bothered with anniversaries or anything either :(

On the plus side nothing to distract me from finishing the ark though :)

Thank you! You could maybe just do a couple of hours SAL a week. That way it won't feel like you've abandoned it totally & you'll be making some progress.

If your hubby doesn't want a stitched card, then don't waste your time (bah humbug!). Nothing worse than stitching something which won't be appreciated. You could do it for yourself. Be your own admirer! ;)

I can finally add something cross stitchy to the thread, yay me!
Anyways, as I said in a previous post, my Coronation Street finally came, last Monday, and I have put in a few hours over the last week so here is the result of Week 1, I must be the slowest stitcher ever as it doesn't seem like much??? LOL

Anyways, here is what it will look like when finished:

And this is how much I have done so far:

The above pic has been re-sized to fit better on th thread.
You can see the more in detail version here (hover over image and click to zoom in).

And click here to see day by day progress in my fb corrie cross stitch album.

Edited to add in: Just realised I need to change my sig. as I finally finished the scarf, yesterday yay!

I think you've made good progress. And so does my DH who is being nosy & peering over my shoulder. I'm not a Corrie fan (Craig Charles fan, though.:D:D:D) but that kit is really nice-very detailed.

:T for finishing the scarf too.

i'm feeling really down and disgruntled today. HR have called me in on a day i'm not working for an important meeting that i can only guess is the Redundancy Notice meeting. harumph.

i'm going to try to stitch tonight to stop me eating all the xmas shortbread.

You still have christmas shortbread left???
Seriously, I hope all goes ok on the job front.

I once started a lovely design of Bluebell Woods for my Granda's 75th birthday, he died when he was 86 and I still haven't completed it..

    Consider yourself Kicked....:D

Was it the John Clayton circles kit by any chance? If so, I have that one too. It's lovely.

while we are all getting a kicking.. i have 2 cushion fronts to get done for mothers day

i need to get them started but i am already started on a woollen stitched rug and i have some disney kits coming that i know i will want to do as soon as they get here. might have to leave them in the packet and not look until the cushions are done!

A lot of kicking going on tonight. We'll all be covered in bruises at this rate. :D

I had a big arguement with my Dad again today. Discovered another email to his 'other woman' and it made me so mad. He swears that everything is finished, but I know that it's not. So I told him I don't want to see or hear from him again. I feel so bad for my stepmum though. I don't want to make things worse for her, but I can't handle all this extra stress of keeping things secret. It's making me ill & I don't want to be stuck in the middle all the time. Been frantically stitching all evening to try & keep my mind off it all. :(

I also got a sewing machine for Christmas and I've not even oiled it yet. I'm scared in case I'm too rubbish to use it :(
This I can totally sympathise with. :o
I bought a sewing machine from Lidl back in the Summer last year and it wasn't till the November that I was able to sit down with it.

What I did was have a day to myself settled down with the instructions set it up and got some old clothing that I didnt want and ran that through to get an idea of what it was like.

Once I felt comfortable with the machine, I sewed up my 'Old Friends Brighten Our Days' cushion.

I tell you after I finished that I was so chuffed! :D

I've also used my machine to sew my aida to my scroll frame. :)

You'll probably find it's easier to set up and use than you think.
  • I was looking at a sewing machine in Aldi last week, (I've been looking in various places for over a year now!), but I never get round to buying one. I'm sure I'll be rubbish and it will be a total waste of money. But I love the thought of being good at it and being able to make things. I always spend far too much time worrying about things, so never get round to doing anything:rotfl:

I remember being forced into sewing classes at school. Once a week, for a year we had to spend two hours battling with the dratted machines. Four machines between a class of 20.

Everyone had to make the same thing - a skirt - from the same pattern. It was four panels, a hem, a waistband and a zip.

After a whole term I had managed to : cut out the panels and sew two of the four panels together.

No hem, no waistband, no zip.

I think my mother cut up the remains for dusters....

Some lovely updates - loving the little cabbage baby, and those stockings on the previous page are just brilliant :jWhat a great design that Corrie stitch is, I think you got a good amount done Soulie, it's very detailed with all that brickwork

Weekly update from me - didn't get a chance to do it yesterday, it's all been a bit hectic here lately :)

    Last week:

    January2011030.jpg

This week, although I haven't done any for a few days::o

It's funny, all I can see is 'blue' when I'm stitching, it's only when I take a step back and see it laid out for the photo that I can see the tons of blue shades actually forming the picture.
