No, unfortunately there's nothing to adjust in the screen menus that'll help. I did the same as you regarding the cable type. G0

Have you reinstalled the monitor drivers or just the graphics card drivers?
It may also be the case that to get a true widescreen display, you have to accept a loss of resolution.
Keep trying to readjust the resolution downwards and not just upwards, and see if that makes any difference.0 -
I have re-installed the monitor drivers from the Hanns-G disk
I'll try adgusting the slider again a few times0 -
Oh...I went into advanced options and found the "hide modes that this monitor can't support" button....
I unclicked that and now have many more options including 1600x1000 up to 2560x1600 but no 1440x900?0 -
Can you get 1280 x 800?0

Nope....1152x864, 1280x1024 or 1600x10000

In post 24, someone posted a picture of their Display Properties options. If you go into the same box on your PC and look at the drop-down box marked "Display:" (it's just above the resolution slider) are there any options to choose between, or just the one?
It doesn't sound like a problem with your GFX card - it's displaying all of the modes it thinks is appropriate. It just doesn't seem to know that you have a widescreen monitor, which to me suggests a problem with the monitor driver.
Have you checked the monitor manufacturer's wesbite to see if there's an FAQ section including a question on this?0 -
I don't have a drop down box. There is a picture of a widescreen monitor and it says Display: plug and play monitor on Nvidai Geforce 7800GTX0

There are also 2 DVI ports on the graphics card0

Would you be comfortable editing your PC's .conf (configuration) files manually?0
