Does it say in the display properties your monitor and not a generic monitor?

You could try uninstalling your graphics display and reinstalling it again there may be a newer version out.
  • If I right click on the desktop, the menu shows "nvidia" If I hover over that, it comes up with "HW191D" That looks as though it knows about my monitor.

I don't know how to re-install my graphics display but it is a new PC!

Have you tried contacting the PC's manufacturer? I could tell you how to reinstall your drivers (or install older ones as suggested earlier), but if things get worse it shouldn't invalidate your warranty.

It's definitely something wrong with the g'card (hardware) or its drivers (software). G

I have the same monitor & using a Radeon 9700 with no problems:

Just a thought when I showed my picture in my previous post 16. Have you got the box ticked as shown in the nvidia display tab the option "hide modes that monitor can not support".

i CAN'T GET THAT SCREEN AS i DON'T HAVE THE sCREEN RESOLUTION MODE IN THE CENTRE WINDOW THAT YOU SHOW (oops...caps off)

I only get the options listed in #20
  • what sort of cable are you connecting with - just an off the wall idea but maybe your monitor does not support higher resolutions over VGA cable and you need to use a dvi cable?

I know some new HD tvs will not give full res over VGA.

I have a Samsung HD that display full screen res on VGA 1360xsomething cant remember the exact number.

My home pc monitor has dvi and VGA bother work off 2 pcs both display full resolution.
  • fair enough - it was just a guess considering they had tried pretty much everything else.

It may still be this as specifications will differ between manufacturer but it would be a bit silly if a pc monitor would not work at all supported resolutions over VGA

Originally, I connected with VGA but then upgraded to DVI. There's nothing I need to do with the screen munus is there?
