My other thread is here.
I haven't changed the cable as I only bought the one. It may be easier to try my monitor and cable with another PC? (ANYBODY FROM KENT?)0 -
Yes, I suppose testing your monitor+cable on another PC would be easier. But before you rush off to theirs, enquire as to whether or not their PC's graphics supports the required 1440x900 res.
Do you know anyone in your locality who owns a PC? If no, post your 'Anybody from Kent?' request in the I wanna buy-it or do-it board. Good luck, G0 -
I've put a request into freecycle. I don't know if they allow requests for help?
Otherwise, I'll do what you suggest.0 -
I had another reply from Nvidia saying the following:
1) Go to
http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm
2) Down the utility Monitor Asset Manager and save it to your hard drive. Install the program and then proceed to launch the application
3) Once MAM is open, click on the "Report" button which will copy the information to your clipboard. Go back into this support request and paste this information so that we may look at your monitor's EDID information.
Here's the result......

Latest from Dell:
Initially you had mentioned that after you updated the graphics card driver, you were able to get the required resolution on the monitor. However, the next day the resolution changed.
In order to use the nvidia drivers correctly you need to uninstall the driver currently installed through the control panel add/remove, then when the computer recognizes the card after uninstall hit cancel for the install.
Clean out all the old graphics drivers with Drive Cleaner Pro.
Run Drive Cleaner Pro.
Select Nvidia in the drop down list of Drive Cleaner Pro.
Then go to nvidia and download the new driver and install.
I see that the Nvidia card was shipped with the system. If the above steps don't help then we will wait for what Nvidia has to say.
What's Drive Cleaner Pro?0 -

Yes, I found that.
I'm curious why Dell have sold me a PC and then recommend that I start downloading things like that. I thought initially it was an xp function or something.
PS: What's Google?0 -
