Sainsburys - don't want business

super ! . . . . . . . . .0

I started this thread as I was confused by my experience with Sainsburys and asked for information, as staff at Sainsurys had only grunted "its the law" and "76" (?).
Thanks to those who responded with information and suggestions. The majority of responses were helpful, informative and amusing. Thanks again.
However, I have been shocked by the few responses which have been negative and disrespectful. It is sad to think about what has happened to some people to make them so bitter and twisted.
Still, every cloud has a silver lining and think of all the money I will save by going to my local ASDA and Morrisons rather than Sainsburys. I didn't realise how expensive they were until I went to ASDA.
Thanks again for all the help.0 -
This filling in details palaver is a waste of time.
its like going to a gun shop and being compelled to give your details to buy a weapon which you can then sell or give away to another person with no further checks, or penalty for doing so.
There is no proof of name and address required and someone who has no tv licence can write down whatever they want.
it maybe the law but it helps no-one and is just sheer bureaucracy.squaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0 -
I hear the MD of Sainsburys has just killed himself as he is so devastated by the loss of a particular customer.0

I completely agree it is. But why take it out on staff at Sainsbury;s. They did not make up the rule .0 -
I feel sorry for the staff at the local ASDA and Morrison's.0

Don't feed the trolls : Sadly the web has a habit of throwing up a very small but vocal number of trolls, people who are nasty or contrary just to get a rise out of you. If someone’s doing this, simply don’t reply, just report it to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
Sadly the world has a habit of throwing up a very small but vocal number of a r s e h o l e s , who think it is perfectly all right to be nasty to supermarket staff due to their own ignorance of rules and regulations. And who can't be bothered to do a simple google search before venting their bile on this forum.0

Grace, the problem is that you still seem to not accepted that the member of staff in sainsbury's was doing their jobs and if they didnt do it, they could get into trouble for it.
You have been shown the proof that they were responsible for doing it and whether you agree or not with their methods it needed to be done and you didn't like it.
I don't particularly like having to give over my personal details to people myself, but do know that they have to register all tv sales with the appropiate authorities. Making a song and dance about it at the checkout, only inflames the situation and raises yours and their bloodpressure.
Just calm down, forget about it and chalk it up to experiance, you have made others aware of the situation, but you will find that more than likely Morrisons or asda would act in exactly the same way.0 -

I agree. In the last two years, I have bought television sets from Argos, ASDA and Sainsbury;s and they have all asked for details.0
