If I were in a desparate situation I'll ask anyone to let me use a phone e.g. local shops, petrol station, police station, hospital, fire station etc and tell them that I'll bring back some coins later on when I get them. Surely, someone must be kind enough to let someone make one local call.

Absolutely, and you have even been kind enough to offer to make the call on her behalf. The OP should have sorted this hours ago, wondering around hoping a church might be open is not constructive.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • It is lovely of someone to offer money, but I think at this stage on christmas eve she just needs to sort some food out for her and the kids tomorrow, money won't be much good when almost all shops will be closed. I would take the number down above and ask a neighbour if I could use their phone to ring the church, there should be someone organising midnight mass there tonight, best wishes.
  • hammyman, you're a bit harsh, it is christmas after all, peace and goodwill to all?
  • maybe i should of thought about it first but after speaking to the advisor at the job centre about it first she made it sound quite easy to do and then i would of been atleast bringing some money in at xmas...i never once thought this would happen.
i'm going to get ready now and go see if this church is open and also see if theres anyone that will let me use their phone to call social services

  • The purpose of this thread is to offer some advice.
We don't know the full story and its intricate details so please don't think you know everything about the OP's situation because your judgement is based on an assumption.

Having said it, I agree with dmg24 that, given the resources available to the OP, a temporary measure should have been sorted by now.
Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

Have you sold your soul to the devil?
  • i wanted to better my self and come off benefits..,..yes self employment and avon seemed ok at the time maybe it is all my own fault and i should of carryed on claiming
