Romantic Restaurants Or Night Spots To Propose !!

Hi guys

Im looking for a very romantic spot this new years eve in london to spend some quality time with my g/f and to pop the question as i been with her nearly 5 years now, it either be a nice restaurant with british food as she tad fussy when it comes to food ha ha within a good distance from Hilton London Metropole hotel so i could either get taxi or either walking distance as i dont like the undergrounds, prop pop the question then watch the fireworks or get a spot where we can see the fireworks from a distance then ask so as you can see need all the help i can get

I aint too clued up with london as iam from south wales so any help would be brill as i only been there once

Any suggestions and ideas are most welcome.

Thanks in advance

  • How about at the top of the london eye, at night, watching the lights and stars? I don't know if that's all that romantic. Is it a complete surprise that you're popping the question? And if not, do you know if she wants it to be in a public place - such as a resturant? Not to put you off or anything - it's just that maybe she would prefer something a little more private and intimate? You could see fire works from the top of the london eye. But I don't know how long you're on it haha. Might not have enough time to lead up to the question... Although I do think it stops up the top for a while?

well i would adjust the question is there a nice Restaurant near by ?? bit off romantic softy iam ha ha, and it would be great on the eye itself but i doubt there be anywhere else to pop the question would there???
  • Wouldn't the London Eye be closed as its usually the focal point of the firework display?

Trouble with doing it in a public place (I take it you are thinking of getting down on one knee?) is that it kind of puts the pressure to say yes.....not that your girlfriend has any doubt in saying yes but you get my drift?

What about at the fireworks ? Personally I wouldn't go with a restaurant I would go for something more unusual. Recommended by confetti is 28 th floor bar, hyde park hilton. http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/restaurants/restaurants-to-propose-in-london-recommended-london-526.html. What about a boat on the thames? Do they do boat trips to view the fireworks that would be romantic yes they do http://www.citycruises.com/newyear.htm and loads of others . Google it loads of ideas that beat the M1 which was mine! However we have been married 23 years on Jan 2!

One of the best restaurants I have been to is "The Roof Gardens" in Kensington High Street. Unusual and very stylish

Wherever you go, good luck, hope she says yes

I fear you have probably left it too late to book a special restaurant as the sought after ones in London tend to book up even on a regular night at least 3 months in advance. Even the more run of the mill places are likely to be heaving on New Years Eve and I'd be surprised if you could get a reservation anywhere nice at this stage. How about Trafalger Square at midnight?

so the London Eye only has tickets in the day, with 3pm as the latest time..... so you're in the paddington kind of area....i'd say going somewhere more than walking distance makes sense (so time to face the tube or accept an overpriced taxi fare!).

for all out champagne bar with view:

something in the Oxo tower would have a great view:

how about a night in with room service if something more private might work?

here's another thread asking the same thing.

book quickly though - things will get very full very quickly.

I just googled and found out... the london eye is the second most popular place for a proposal!

But how will you feel proposing with all the other people in your shared pod watching and listening with no privacy? Why not cook her a nice romantic candlelit dinner at your place or hers, with some chilled champagne tucked away somewhere in the hope that she says "Yes"
