The restaurant is so high up that you get stunning views across london, including the london eye. They possibly don't have them anymore but even the champagne glasses came in a little shared holder for two. I loved it up there. If you are staying as well, then i'm sure the staff will bend over backwards for you as well.
You can see the london eye and then go down there later to see the fireworks! Good luck!
yes iam staying at the metropole in london not to sure if it has the restrauant up the top i will have to ask about this0 -
The Minako bar and restaurant is on the 24th floor..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

If you want to pop the question at midnight, why not go to Primrose hill in Regents park? There will be lots of people there to watch the fireworks from the top, but you can easily find a secluded spot nearby. Going to watch them from the north bank can be fun, but will be manic as the crowd is huge and the police often make you walk ages out of your way to get to the water front.
During the day, Regents Park has lots of lovely spots that you could visit on a walk and get down on one knee - along the canal (between the park and Camden Lock) or on the avenue gardens, which I think are two of the most beautiful spots in London! There are plenty of pubs serving decent British food around almost all of the exits to the park, so you wont go hungry.Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

Anywhere around the River gets hopelessly crowded for fireworks.
Primrose Hill (if open) is a good idea.
For restaurants, you can't go wrong at Claridges.0 -
No its not far - as far as I remember, the Metropole is near Edgeware road, so its about a 20 minute stroll or a short cab ride to the park. Primrose Hill and the canal are at the other edge of the park, but its not a long walk and is obviously very pleasant. The avenue gardens would be farther along the southern edge of the park, and IMO are stunningly beautiful and have plenty of private corners among the flowers for a one knee moment! They wont be in their full summer splendour but will be kitted out in winter plants and maybe even some snow, and Im sure will be lovely.Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000

The OXO Tower restaurant will bankrupt you. The Tate Modern restaurant is lovely and on the top floor above the gallery. The view is fabulous and the menu not too expensive but the location really has the wow! factor.
