Hi girls
Mum2one, yep, it does seem to happen to you a lot! Hope everything is ok in Prague, perhaps you ought to avoid using words like 'trip' in case your mind takes it literally when you're out there.
I don't think there are many places you could tell people -
and look for mincemeat, so exicted about that
without getting strange looks
Good luck with the packing Sugar spun, must be difficult with a little one.
Soba, love the owl.
Susan thanks for the other thread info. I don't have paypal because it caused me problems years back, so I'll have to consider whether to get it or not. Is there any other way to avoid using it?
Mary, have fun with your boxes, it makes me feel all Christmasy and cosy when I read about them.
Hope you all have a good Sunday x0 -
Hello all :j
Bit of a lazy day really apart from gardener chap coming up and between us sorting out what needs putting in the bottom shed as I want to keep it.........builders are clearing the garage before they change the doors and don't want them chucking stuff out I want. I shan't be here first thing -appt for blood test 9am !! One of those ''fasting'' ones.........I'll be gagging for a coffee -just hope I don't have to wait long.
Angela...........got a shoe box, just need to cover it now and put younger sons xmas stuff in it for his ''christmas in a box''............thought I'd finished it all -he's got 5 fabric hearts, 3 trees, two xmas puddings and two little stockings......and a soft tree but just realised I've not done gingerbread people for him and his girlfriend.............!!!!
Might do one for older son as a sort of 'family' pressie for him, his girlfriend and 4 year old -I can get some felt and do different things like snowmen and reindeer.
The joy of younger sons bits was that they cost me nothing..............I'd been given the stuffing, fabric samples were free...........just had to buy some ribbon...........very mse...........and shouldn't cost much to post as its very lightweight.
Musn't forget his scarf and wristwarmers and the ones for his girlfriend.............lol oooo ek ! More postage.........!!
Did couple more little fabric hearts but think I'll probably keep them for ourselves.........:) Found some pillowlace my mum made years ago.......only a small piece but she had a go with grandmas old pillow and bobbins.........I never could get the hang of it and mum got fed up with it.........I put some lace on the hearts I've just done and they'll be a nice little keepsake to have about.
Hope you're all ok:)
Batten down the hatches for the wind tomorrow:eek:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Evening everyone
I have finished doing my Dad's wallpaper at last. Nice to be home again. When I got home I found one pack of the playing cards has come from Artscow. I am so pleased with them, they are lovely and GS will love them. I am waiting for the other pack to come now for the other GS. I also had two £10 M&S vouchers from one of my survey sites to put away for my Niece's wedding present.
I also found I had done a bit of a boob on my brother's wedding anniversary, I thought it was their ruby this year so had bought them a bottle of champagne ready for it. We dont usually buy cards or presents for anniversaries but I thought as it was a big one I would. Then found out off my sister that it was last year lol. So glad I found out before the day and didnt turn up there with a ruby card and the present, I would have looked a right plonker lol. So we have decided to give the champagne to ED as its her 30th in November.
YD is a lot better thanks Susuan, my Son had a good talk with her about things and she had the victim support people ring up and tell her they were there if she needed someone as well. She starts college proper tomorrow so the beginning of a new chapter.0 -
Mary-op you have inspired a project for a future year that is possibly well beyond my skill level: the Twelve Days of Christmas in a Box. Gold rings, milk maids, leaping lords, partridges and pear trees and goodness knows what.
Or maybe it isn't too much of a stretch ... hmm *thinking cap on* If I can figure a way where it isn't horrendously complicated and it's reasonably cheap it could be my go-to middle-sized-kid gift.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Hi all
Sugar Spun, something that came to mind as soon as I read your idea about the 12 days is to find a picture of each item and stick it to the front of a small box filled with chocolates or other goodies possibly jewellery. Or instead of a picture, cross stitch or collage one to stick on a box. Or a cross stitch little pouch.
This idea could even be used as an alternative Advent calendar.
Oh my goodness, my mind is working overtime with possibilitiesWell done Sugar Spun for thinking of the box.
Rufus, bet you're glad to have found out in time about the anniversary could have been embarassing otherwise.
Mary, I'm feeling warm and fuzzy reading about your boxes. It's lovely you still have the lace and can make good use of it for yourself.
A couple of ladies at my craft club do lace making and tatting. Lovely to watch it being done, the results are beautiful.0 -
Hello all :j
Not liking this wind we're getting -one slate off the roof already  Builder came this morning and cleared out half the stuff in the garage........coming back later for the rest -hopefully............says he'll sort the roof out as well...........I do hope so.
OH not so good today and can't seem to get him interested in looking at kitchen catalogues so builder can get one ordered. I know the one I'd like and a chap can come this week and measure up if I can pin OH down to it.
Had blood test this morning.......one of those 'fasting' ones..........got up half seven, appt was 9am so couldn't even have my ''wake myself up'' coffee till I got back but my word it tasted good !;)
sugarspun - 12days of christmas.........that sounds like quite a project........not sure I'd want to do that -how on earth would you make the lords leaping and milkmaids ? Lovely idea though and good luck !
Not done much today with builder being about and OH not so good but did make three little notelets...........few off bits of paper so its sort of 'patchwork' on a card if you know what I mean.
Cleaner coming tomorrow and taking OH to see nurse and get his dressing checked then we're clearing out the 'stuff' in the bathroom ready for the council chap to start next Monday.......she might get time for a quick hoover by the time we've done............lol
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Afternoon all
I have started knitting YD the cardigan she bought the pattern for. I am hoping to get it done for an extra Christmas present. I only started it lunch time and I am half way up one of the fronts already so it is going quite quickly. It is an aran pattern but not all over, just a panel up the two fronts.0 -
snap rufus - i picked up knitting yesterday, decided to make my friend a scarf. Took about an hour to cast on , as i write with both hands it becomes a bit confusing. I`ve did 4 rows they look strange. So I`ve put it down and have started reading the idiots guide to knitting again...
mary - hope you ok and didnt have anymore damage. I was watching our back fence, was worried all night, but its still standing.
angela - i love watching people make things, a number f us on this forum are on the money making one, elysia runs it, shes lovely. some survey people do vouchers, some paypal,
is it easy to make mince meat?
sugarspun - good luck with the moving, i know how stressful it can beChallenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
Afternoon all
I re-read my knitting pattern yesterday and found the Aran bit goes all over the sleeves and back as well as the fronts. Just hope it doesn't start hurting my arms this time as I want to get it done as soon as I can but I have three months really to do it in.
I ordered YD's photobook last night from Artscow, it was an 8 x 8 book with 20 pages but I added some more pages and it ended up being double the size I think. It still only cost me just over £11 though so I think it was good value as I paid more than that last year for one from Tesco. I really like the way you can adapt the page to how ever you want it to look and it has lots of different styles to choose from, its a bit like doing a digital scrapbook. I had some money in my Paypal account from my last lot of bits I sold on Ebay so I only ended up paying 85p out of my bank.0 -
Afternoon all,
Hope no one's been blown away!
Lol!! :rotfl: I saw that the other day!! Bless!
springdreams - thanks for the heads up on Mr T's Cadbury Wishes!!
SugarSpun - made me lol :rotfl: about your advice re: painkillers!! lol
LOVE your 12 days of Christmas idea!! Could it be more of a felt, 3D, pyramid shaped wall hanging?? Does that even make sense? lol
mary - did you make up the patterns/designs for all your soft felt items, or did you find them somewhere online?
rufus - glad YD is doing ok!
Had a lovely friend's wedding last Friday. Lovely day. Drunk far too much. lol Hoever, I didn't finish the cross stitch in time (STILL not finished - but close!) So they'll just have to have it when we see them next. Annoyed thought.
Off to France for a week this weekend - half visiting family, half just a break with my side of the family. Once back it's full steam ahead on Christmas!!!!
Wanted to share this with you all!!! http://sites.google.com/site/ukchristmastv/latest-tv-news-christmas-2010 So exciting! lol I knew you lot would understand....
