  • Well done Sugarspun!! I thought I was super organised with getting mothers day presents out of the way!! I'm going to make a list today of everyone I need to buy for over the year, see if I can recycle any xmas presents and make a budget for each of them with a few gift ideas and fingers crossed they come up in grabbit over the next year.

My OH mentioned to the MIL that I was going to try to make some handmade presents for next xmas, to which she looked at me and said 'Don't bother lovey I don't like all of 'that''. grr.

Is it still a bank holiday today? I've lost complete track of time!

Congratulations on your first wedding Anniversary Kelda.

Diddly - I know what you mean. My DD changed her christmas list ten times in December but she still loved everything. I start January and add bits here and there, and then what she really wants I buy as late as I can incase she changes her mind again. DD1 is easy now she's 19 - all she mainly had was makeup, perfume, toiletries, books and money.

Sugarspun - What have I told you? If you're going to keep showing off that you've nearly done, we won't let you on here again! ;) Seriously though, Well done you. What a fantastic acheivement. You going to start wrapping next week?

Hiya Alona - I'm over here too. Thanks for the tips over on the MM thread. I love it when we all help each other. :D

Esmer - I know exactly how you feel hun. DD2 has trouble with high temps since birth. I didn't want to scare you the other night, but whatever you can do to get her temp down, just do it. ;) Icelollies the lot. I hope you manage to get some sleep/rest.

    Goodmorning to everyone else. :)

OOps was typing as you posted.

Georgie - I'm not the only one who stays up late colouring then? Do you use Promarkers? They are fab are't they?

Twinkle - I made some homemade gifts this year and funnily enough, it was the people who I thought would be awkward about it, loved them the most. ???

  • Unfortunately she is the kind of person that writes a list, distributes to everyone, then still asks for the receipts after xmas so she can return them. I also had my first hand at making cards for the family this year and I was pretty impressed with them - nothing spectacular just button christmas tree kind of things then she asked if the OH's boy had made it! I have given up on her! But everyone else will be getting something handmade this year

She sounds like my EX MIL............. Some folk just make it their aim in life to be miserable and drag people down with them. I ended up just getting her vouchers and sod it if she didnt like them. No need to bother, cause I got rid of her and her son. :D

Yes - Elysia - promarkers are currently flavour of the month in this house. I now have 68 - but 2 of those are doublers, one is a blender pen, and one silver and one gold - so out of the range of 148 I have 63. I also have lovely letraset wallets for them - each wallet holds 24 pens. I hope to be money neutral enough to buy some more.
  • Everyone I made gifts for this year loved what I made them

    Chutney
    Jam
    Marmalade
    Biscotti
    Fudge
    Winter Fruit Compote
    Granola

In fact they were much better received than I thought they would be especially the fudge, biscotti, compote and granola which I made for the first time this year

I'm just writing a present list for birthdays and mother's day - nearly there for these 2 just a couple more ideas needed

Also writing a list of the Christmas Eve Hampers as they too were very well received - esp the candles and towels so am repeating these alongside the shower gel gift sets from M+S which were also well received.

I'll be asking through the year if there was anything people liked in particular that I made to repeat for next year and maybe add in some more Christmas Cake orders if people liked these

Can't even think about next Christmas yet - no ideas for presents at this stage!

  • I got a bike yesterday for our Granddaughters birthday in Feb. Now all I have to do is find somewhere to put it as they stay with us on New Years Eve and it clearly says its a bike.

All got some craft stuff in the sales for stall next year. I do a mixture of things I have made and bric a brac. I cant do car boots as I only have a small car and cant fit tables in it so it has to be table sales etc.

Well done Gemini on all you hand made stuff. I haven't looked yet, Do you have a blog? Some of us do - if you click on our names it will say visit so and so's homepage. I would love to see some of your makes. At last count I had seventy odd Promarkers but not the blending one or silver or gold so I'm envious. ;)

Fedup - you made the hamper for your Mum with the dinner set. I thought what a brilliant idea and bought my mum one too. Trouble is my sister turned up on Christmas Eve and said you'll want to open this so you can use it tomorrow - it was a plain white dinner set like mine, only hers were square plates and mine were round. Argghh.

Esmer - get some sleep, or you'll have a headache later. ;)
