How's OH? I hope he as recovered and is taking things easier. How horrible for all of you to have your break cancelled - Were you going anywhere special? Sorry - I'm the nosey one! LOL

Well, join in any time you like. The December challenge is on post 2 (I think). It's pick and mix - just do the things applicable to you. You'll be organised before you know it. ;)

  • Hi all.

Mum2one - Decluttering doesnt even really come close in here. I seriously need a skip i think!! LOL.

Had a productive day today. Worked a night shift last night and went shopping to Bluewater today. Not the greatest plan ive ever had, i must admit. Wasnt as bad as i thought though. Got a few nice bits in the Boots sale and paid with points. Even better in my book. 6 presents ticked off the list for the first couple of months of 2011.

Have been super organised on the 2011 Christmas front too (I'm scaring myself!!). Wrap and tags and cards brought. Got a few nice family cards in M&S for 50p each. Ive chucked out all the old bits ive had for ages so thats the first stage of the decluttering started!!

Trying to get the main bits done for the first half of the year. January is a Crazy month. Have 7 decent present birthdays to buy for and my DD. Not great. Sales help though!! My DH is 40 in march so that will be an expensive bit. Not really sure what he wants but want to make it special.

Tomorrow is a tidying day!! Kids rooms look like a bombs gone off!!

Hiya Tracey - you've made a wonderful start. Well done to you!!!

As for the decluttering - do a bit at a time! If you try and do too much, you'll only get fed up and give up - Or is that just me? ;)

  • We need more storage in this house!

Kids both need new wardrobes and shelves so their rooms can be organised and sorted.
Garage needs to be sorted and tidied out - I did have all the Chrimbo presents stored in there but will have to find a diff hiding place for next year I was discovered lol.
I need a box to put on top of my wardrobe to store Christmas things (wrapping, cards etc) ready for next year.

I popped into our local town today and bought 100 cards and some wrapping paper so have started to get organised. Also bought a birthday present for my neice who is 4 in October and some other fillers for my Birthday Drawer - for when my DDs get invited to parties - no running into town, just pick a gift from the stash!

So feeling happy with my beginnings (I have logged them on my spreadsheet too)

Not a great night temp shot upto 38.9 I have got it down to 38.1 with window open, just a cotton sheet and nurofen. She is sleeping now and I'm like a hawk. Her temp was a constant 37.5 today, hi for dd but that was manageable! 2 hrs after going to sleep and it's shot up.

Will let you know how she is x

Esmer - so hope your daughter's getting better by morning

    My Christmas recap....

    What was your best present?
The two huge OOTW Soap & Glory sets I got (one from DH and one from brother & SIL). They were actually worried I'd be disappointed at getting two the same :rotfl:

What would you do different next Christmas?
Not wrap up presents before buying gift tags - this will save me having to unwrap and rewrap pressies!

Try hard to be at least halfway to money neutral

Other than that, next Christmas will be totally different as we're going to bro and sis in law's for the first time, so I'll make anything they want me to and just generally try to be as useful a guest as they were to me this year :)

What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
Spent all day laughing but the highlight was probably my brother's drunken singing on Rock Band - he certainly made an impression on my MIL and FIL :rotfl:

If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
Boring but honest, I'd like a major lottery win - so many of my friends and family have money issues and it would make my life to be able to fix them
A cure for my cousin's cancer
Secure, happy jobs for me and mine - too much uncertainty at the moment

    Hi elysia2003.

Thanks for the reply. Ive used MSE for years to find shopping codes and discounts ect but never really found the need to post as ive not used the forums much. It wasnt till last year that i found the thread for the christmas gifts and thought it seem like a nice place to chat to other people, nice to get ideas from each other and that.

Thanks for some great ideas last year. Made some really nice bits for Christmas - Hampers mainly. Also made pots of gold for the table for christmas day. Everyone loved them, used to make crackers with personal gifts in them but thought they would make a nice change.

  • Hi just joined TG Moneysaving so coming here too. Sooo wish I'd found this earlier after the boiler blew in November but managed a few home mades - tea cup candles, flavoured vodka & a knitted scarf. We have a Freegle group which holds bimonthly giveaways so managed to get some lovely cups & glasses. Also helped with decluttering as I used up the charity shop candle wax kit I bought jic & all the boxes I store "as you never know what we'll list on Ebay".

    Can't wait
Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in infamy!!
