Mary - just to let you know that the insurance and tax HAS to be paid even if it's not on the road, (unless you are waiting for it to be scrapped). The owner of the car HAS to be insured at all times now. It only came into force last week. It was in Martin Lewis' email.

If you really don't want to pay full whack, just get 6 months tax, (you can always get a refund if you sell the car or sell it with it) and get third party fire and theft insurance instead of fully comp.

    Hello all :j

elysia-thanks......I knew about the tax thing, have to do a SORN thing -foster daughters OH will sort that out for us. Didn't know about the insurance though. Don't really want to pay out if we can get round it. Has to be a way surely. OH can't drive, car will be garaged so I can't see the point of insurance. I'll have to see if there;s another way otherwise its like paying for house insurance if you haven't got a house.

Got to the garden centre ok.........neighbours daughter has broken her ankle and now on crutches -she's matching OH...........lol
Nurse didn't come till about 4pm so I had a word with her about all the medical 'jargon' on OH's discharge papers..........seems he had half his colon removed:eek: Knew something has been taken out but not that much ! You'd have thought a doctor would have taken time out to tell both of us that. Oh well, such is our local hospital!

Lovely day again but bit too windy outside to be sat out there too long............newspaper wanted to take off..............lol So made little grandsons birthday card instead and wrote few letters instead.

MIL's birthday week after next so need to find something for her..........amazon had some nice mini-hampers that might fit the bill.

    Hope you're all ok:)

Hi Susan - I'm glad you're ok, and that you had a lovely time. I think you've took the sunshine back home with you, haven't you? It's really windy here now.

Next time you're down - you must go into the castle - it's fab. ETA: Did you use your pass to go into Shakespeare's house? That's next on our list.

elysia - just checked on Martins e mail and then the direct.gov site and it looks like if we take car off the road and contact DVLA with SORN thing we don't have to insure it, just have to explain why its being taken off the road. Thats what it looks like anyway.
Tax isn't due till July but we can do SORN before then and explain reasons and should be alright.
Don't want to get into trouble but don't want to pay out if I needn't.

Hi girls I've been reading all the posts but didn't have the time to reply. I've just made an awful discovery - 2 birthdays Monday and Tuesday and I hadn't sent a card yet

I think it's because June has crept up too fast on me and all this week I was getting myself into a state because of that awful Panorama documentary because DS is in a home, he's always been brilliantly looked after, it's like a family home with only 4 of them and he has a better social life than I ever had.

Just recently because of the current government cuts, there have been question marks about his placement so with that and the ongoing divorce I've been very distracted from special occasions. I'm going to have to email and apologise in advance :(

Mum2one - Blists Hill was great today - it was lovely and sunny, even got a little bit burnt. It wasn't even packed considering it is school hols. We last went April 2009, and there have been a few new additions. The site seems to have opened up, and it's bigger, but probably not accessible for you though, a bit hilly and rough ground here and there, the main bits OK though.

We took the three passes, and said to the assistant, we've got three passes, but we think (know ;)) we have to pay for DD2, she went away to ask the supervisor, and she said we could use the pass anyway, so we got in for nothing. It should have cost £15 per adult and £10 for DD2. Brilliant. :D.

Try that with Miss Hoodie as we're taking her friend with us... if have to pay get Miss Hoodie the yr pass, as save paying again when we go with Irish Grandparents, this grandparent lark is a saga!!
Glad you enjoyed it, we took Miss hoodie and her other friend to Wonderland, that nearly killed me, made worse as its on a hill, but we did diversion via pub on way home for a late lunch. Food was fab, carvery pub, its on the to go back to!

Half way through rough draft of assisgnment, plan 2mor to finish the other half and get it set up ready to type, so that give me Mon ngt, Tuesday evening and then want it done by then.

Miss Hoodie just had the room painted, her friends having her wardbrobe, there picking it up next week, so hopefully by next weekend she'll have her new furniture up.

We had the bargain of the century, I got a pair of the glasses from the free offer, there amazing, - lenses thinner than standard lenses, no extra charge, if I had of known how gd they were, would of had reactions put on them. But can def recommend the, xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Mum2one - I bought a pair of glasses off the internet once from the grabbit thread, wasnt free, came to about £8 though, they were lovely and light weight, very stylish, only thing was the arm broke after a month across the bit where the screws go so I couldnt get them fixed.

I have sorted two more presents out this morning, ordered OH the Columbo dvd box set from Amazon, was £30 cheaper than on Play. Was going to get him the surround sound but the ones in my price bracket were the ones that come with a dvd player which we didnt really want. Other kind I could have got the surround sound amp but not the speakers so not really worth it. Plus I hadnt told him about it so not as if he knew and he actually asked for the dvds yesterday so saved me quite a bit as was going to spend £135 originally on the SS but the dvds were just £55.

Also ordered YD a new pair of straighteners, babyliss ones so should be better than we have (they are old woolworths ones lol, had them donkeys years).

    Hello all :j
Lovely day but very windy. Finished off first sleeve of baby jacket -I'm such a slow knitter.........thats another sleeve and two fronts to go before October !

OH decided to cook Sunday dinner ! He's sorted it all out ready, got a lift to the pub and says he feels a lot better today........best he's felt so far.....hope it carries on like that.

Keep looking at the freebie samples of tea and coffee I've got.........must make some little cards/sachets for them to go in for presents.
Neighbour brought round two little jars but no lids with them..........keep thinking they'll be something I can do with them but what ?? Ideas please ??

    Hope you're all ok:)
