Hi all
Mary hope everything goes well this weekend.
Hi Miss Pixie welcome to the challenges
Mum2one, I never eat Indian so was interested in your school menu - did you make the toasted sandwiches because some of the children wouldn't eat the other food? Or do you normally get them in restaurants?
Whipped cream and honey sounds good.
The teacher had pulled it off the internet, just for Miss Hoodies class they'd been learning about a town in India for a week, so it was a fun ending to it, so i was having groups of 4 kids in to help cook, for some even chopping a cucumber they were over the moon with.
Think the sandwiches would have been better in a sandwich toaster, it was 2 onions fried, then add chopped tomato's (we used 3) again cook with the onions, then add cup of cottage cheese, and warm it through. Didn't bake well in the oven.
Thou we stunk the school out!!
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
We started gutting Miss Hoodies bedroom, she got the small room, - but it took 5 hrs (that was mum and me), but we went through everything.
Got 1 bin bag rubbish
2 carry bags charity shop
1 bag clothes her friend
She does not need any toilettries for the next yr, she get told off, as before we had the bathrm done, asked her to check her bottles and make sure she used all her bubble bath up......... yes was her answer... no was mine! I found 6 bottles (small ones), and 6 sets of bath crystals, so they've now found a new home with the lady opposiate who was ova the moon. Coz Miss Hoodie got dry / sensitive skin, she has better quality bath products.
Did-
2 draws in her bed
2 shelves
Wardrobe - 2 drs for main clothes (shelf was full with everything), extra dr thats got 5 shelves, then at bottom 2 big draws, 2 small draws...
All got to do is her bedside cabnet... (hopefully be 5 min job!!).
Dads now starting taking her curtains and pole down 2mor, and shelves etc, then start painting Mon, so shes sleeping with me!
Good news we found some polo shirts and cycling shorts in the next 2 sizes for school, so there be ready for Sept, so that help out. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Santas Challenge - May
Wardrobes...... (that incudes draws, and anywhere u store clothes!!
I definitely need to do this! We moved in to this house 7 months ago and we still have quite a few binbags of clothes that haven't even been unpacked!
I also need to sort out all of my clothes because, even though I'm only 9 weeks pregnant, none of my normal trousers do up anymore! I'm already in maternity clothes so I need to bag up everything I can't wear and store it in the attic. Then I might have room to hang up my maternity clothes
Bargains
I'll keep my eyes open for good bargains. We have 6 birthdays in July and I could do with a few more male presents.
Loyalty Cards
I'll pick up the Superdrug card when I next pass one, but I don't tend to go there often. Handy to have though.
The Handbag and Make Up Bag
Another one I really must do. My make up bag is so full I struggle to close it, but I only actually use 6 items in it. Why have I got 5 mascaras when I only use one?!
Further to The Make up Bag
As above, I'm sure most things in my make up bag are out of date as I can't even remember buying them . Time to fill the bin.
Suntan Lotion
This one I've done, woohoo! I bought new suncream a month ago and sorted out the old stuff too.
Children
The nursery asks that DS has a hat and suncream in his bag all year round. I bought a small tube and it stays in the bottom of his bag. I bought him 2 new hats recently in the mothercare sale, both less than half price and then all sale items were buy 1 get 1 free, excellent! One for his bag and one for home.
Uniforms
For the first time, I need to think about uniforms! DS starts the school nursery in September and they can wear school uniform if you choose. It's just a little t-shirt with the school logo and then your choice of trousers. The t-shirts come in 3 different colours so I'm going to buy him one of each. I can't believe he's going to be wearing a school uniform soon! I think I even need to get him a PE kit.
Christmas card List
I save my card list on the computer and then just add or delete as needed. So my list is already divided up from last year
Car Boots
I'm actually going to my first one of the year next Sunday. I'll report back if I get any good bargains.
Santas Challenge - Treat time
Oooh, what to do for my treat? I know, I've got a DVD that I haven't watched yet. I might get a nice bar of chocolate (Milka with dime bar bits in is my current favourite!) and some Schloer and have a movie night
Thanks for the challenges as always Mum2one!Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Santas Challenge - May
My daugther just sorted my wardrobe out a couple of weeks ago as I had two rails, one at the top and one half way down but the bottom one wasnt used and just in the way so she took it out for me and then I sorted out the rail of clothes before putting them back again. Some of the bits I didnt want have gone in a bag in case I can use the fabrics.
Bargains
I am always on the lookout for bargains, OH is off next week so hopefully we might get out to some different towns and I can scour their CS as well.
Loyalty Cards
I have got the Superdrug card. Dont go in there that much but do use it for buying daugther's make up bits.
The Handbag and Make Up Bag
I dont have to do the make up bag as my make up isnt in there long enough lol, it disappears some how as soon as I buy anything. Now wonder who is nicking that? Dont think OH has a secret life.
Handbag is fine as I only carry what I need due to the fact I cant carry heavy bags with dodgy arms.
Further to The Make up Bag
As above
Suntan Lotion
We have suntan lotion, bought it in Wilkinson's. None of us really sit out in it for the purpose of getting a tan so just use it for normal day to day things. Daughter is quite good and usually wears a loose shirt over her vests.
Children
Dont have to worry about this one really as daughter is leaving school when her exams are finished.
Uniforms
This is one thing we do have to buy as she has to wear a uniform at her college but we cant buy it until she goes for her entrance day thingy but will have to save up as its £40. Once her prom is paid for completely (just found out its £25 a ticket) I can save the £2 coins towards it.
Christmas card List
I have one of those card folders and have all the addresses listed in the back for Christmas cards. Bought all mine last year so wont have to buy any this year.
Car Boots
I am hoping OH will take me soon. We havent been at all yet this year. Thing is most weekends when he is off his Mum comes down to stay and bootfairs are not her thing so OH doesnt want to take me either. She wont come in CS either so we dont get in those when she is with us.
Santas Challenge - Treat time
I get quite a lot of me time what with OH's shift patterns and with youngest daughter always out with her BF or friends so I am always treating myself in doors. Mind you, I would like to get my hair cut properly (been chopping bits off the top myself as hate paying out for hair dressers and the back is probs like a mullet now lol) but again dont like paying out but might take the plunge in the summer hols.0 -
Hi all
Mum2One, those sandwiches sound nice so it's a pity they didn't taste that well, actually they reminded me of something on the Santa weightloss thread, about having beaten eggs and adding cottage cheese and veg.
When you mentioned cucumber I thought of the latest health scare this weekend about lettuce and cucumber causing fatalities. Makes me wonder what is safe to eat?
I like to read how your whole family support you in the challenges (not just your family, I know other people's on here are also supportive).
It wasn't that long ago I decluttered my wardrobe and now I'm hanging clothes on the doors as it's so full, yet I only wear the same stuff, so no idea what's happened.
Handbags - I hate it when a favourite breaks because no matter what bag I get as a replacement, it's never any good and end up buying more. I often have to use the 'I've changed my handbag' excuse at the shops when I've forgotten something, I've noticed that all the female sales assistants are very understanding.
Thanks for telling us about Superdrug cards, I didn't know.
Since being involved in Santa challenges I'm often amazed how much happens in that time to each person e.g. pregnant ladies whose children are now starting school.
Rufus - did you enjoy making that quilt of the tiny scraps? I had to laugh at your comment about home haircuts.
That's because I cut my hair for years and used to cut the back, but everytime it was done, it seemed to have grown about 5 inches more than the sides. It also used to get into a dreadful tangle. On the final time before I got a salon haircut (month ago), I must have been cutting the back for ages yet there was still more hair and using a few mirrors, it did look like a mullet :rotfl:
Mary I hope OH likes the garden although how much he saw of it? (I got totally soaked when I went out yesterday, it was like standing under a waterfall).0 -
Anglea I haven't heard about lettuce and cucumber - how can they be bad for you? I eat loads of cucumber so does ds1:eek: if we believe all the health scares we will soon be living off water until they find out that is bad for you!saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

Hi bb,
It was the newspaper headlines either yesterday or the day before where organic cucumbers from Spain caused some fatalities because of some kind of disease, ecoli or something like that.0 -

Hello all :j
Another grey and dismal day.......bit chilly as well. Got the heating on as OH feels the cold after being in a hothouse for what seemed like eternity........lol
Found free standing trellis on greenfingers board after I put up a plea for one so hopefully I can now hid the wheelie bins out of sight
Now searching for cushions for the bench and chairs.
Can't seem to find any where they look the same shade of greenOh well, not like we'd be sitting out there at the minute and the sofa is covered in cushions large and small.............lol :rotfl: Can always pinch those if need be.
OH had a good nights sleep and now watching tele.....not much else he can do.
I had a flap this morning......checking through bank statements and can't find any DLA going through:eek:
I know the dla people started paying it into my post office account -didn't ask them to but I expect my pension already going in there they carried on. So, Tuesday I'll have to phone them and see what they're doing. I know post office account is really low and not looking like its had an injection of cash of some sort. While I was doing this I burnt OH's toast.............lol Brought me back to earth a bit........lol:)
Hope you're all ok and enjoying the bank holiday, weather permitting:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
