I bought two goose (geese?) from Lidl last Xmas, and we only had the second one last month. It was absolutely delicious. They're reared in Hungary, free range (as Geese don't take kindly to intensive rearing), and I'm still cooking my roast potatos in the goose fat.

    Great find, Thanks OP

Aldi have their Stollen out, at least in Birmingham. I should know, I've eaten one already.
Fiscal drag, that's my problem. Too many people dragging on my fiscals.

  • We're trying goose for the first time this year, i hope lidl have some left :)
  • My local Lidl (Darlington) has piles of stollen. Not one of my favourites but I love all the German gingerbread stuff! :)
  • The only people that I know personally that say that Aldi and Lidl are downmarket, are people that have never actually been in one.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

I agree entirely. I've seen some of my "friends" recoil in horror when I mention Lidl.

There's good & bad in every supermarket. In Lidl's case, they have some excellent quality food at unbeatable prices - particularly the continental food that my snobbly mates simply die for, when they go on holiday in Europe!

Love Lidl - and I'm a former food snob who would only ever shop in Waitrose or M&S:eek:  In those days, I thought Sainsbury was downmarket :rotfl: :rotfl:

Be a savvy shopper - seek out the quality stuff in Lidl/Aldi and give your purse a break!
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
  • Lidl/aldi are not pile um high sell them cheap like Netto. You can get some really different food that costs a fortune at main superarkets for really good money - jam, cheese slices, brioche.
