Hi, I think its the way your operating your stove, I run a cheap stove through an unlined chimney and it took me a long while before I realized you have to adjust for wind, outside temperature, wood species etc. if its very cold and your letting to much air go up the chimney you will nether get the room or house warm because your dragging very cold air into the house. however spring and autumn, no problem in fact I bleed more air into the chimney as I'm aware of the fact that an unlined masonry chimney could cause problems. Because the chimney is unlined I run a small amount of smokeless fuel once week on slumber.
