http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/philippines/bt/easyTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

If they have access to computers try Skype-to-Skype or another VoIP service provider. Its free.
For calls using a cellphone check rates by
> MO-Call.com
> VectoneMobile.co.uk
> Lebara-mobile.co.uk
> Lycamobile.co.uk
> iCardmobile.co.uk
> Nowmobile.co.uk
> Acecallonline.com
> PokeTalk.com
> Localphone.com
some of them have options a to call from a landline or a computer.
No connections charges or minimum charges. You just pay per minute0 -
I don't see Dialog Vizz in international call checker for Sri Lanka. It is cheapest than other SIM network listed.0
-
looks like its a new one.
I have'nt checked the terms but Vectonemoble currently have a free 100 minute offer for Sri Lanka.0 -
But vectone offer of 100 mins is for only 1 number, so you can call only 1 number in SL to use that 100 mins, and irony is that this is valid for only couple of un popular networks.
On other hands Dialog Vizz is giving away 60 free mins to any network, plus it is actually partnered with SL's biggest network Dialog and Dialog Vizz rates are cheaper on minutes to minutes bases as well.
anyways, I was wondering why Dialog Vizz is not listed in this call checker list on MSE?0 -
TY Saad for pointing that out;
I took them at face value
BTW. Have u looked into the VoIP option ?
We frequently call many countries abroad.
VoIP is the cheapest by far.0 -
We use TalkTalk for telephone and BB.
If we use access numbers for TalkCheap, will be get charged extra by TalkTalk?
However, the problem with all dial-through services is that the numbers they use (in this case 0843 and 0844) are charged at different rates by different calls providers and you should not assume the price quoted on the provider's website is what you will be charged by your calls provider.
Assuming a residential BT line as the base, even the prices they quote (I always use Spain as an example) of ½p/minute to a Spanish landline and 2p/minute to a Spanish mobile are inaccurate because those rates were increased by the VAT rise from 17½% to 20% and BT now charges g22 (½p/minute) rate numbers @ 0.509p/minute and g9 (2p/minute) rate numbers @ 2.041/minute.
In this (the Spanish) case, Talk Talk charges 1p/minute (as opposed to BT's 0.509p/minute) to call a Spanish landline and 2.56p/minute (as opposed to BT's 2.041p/minute) to call a Spanish mobile. It appears therefore that Talk Talk add roughly ½p/minute to all 084 rates.
The MSE International CallChecker covers such mark ups with the providers it trawls but when using separate websites, it's prudent to assume the prices quotes are false (due to the VAT increase) and at least ½p/minute lower than the actual rate Talk Talk will charge.
That's apart from the fact that Virgin Media (and others) charge massively more for calling such numbers (sometimes 5 or 6 times the quoted price).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
