I have used this site and it states that it is 1p/min for calls to UK landlins but when I check my BT bill, it is actually 10-12p/min. BEWARE!

If you are calling 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers you need to add on the Access Charge set by your landline or mobile provider.

Well after our last postings and about 3 months ! later , it appears by accident I have found the updated call checker page which has finally been set to forward via browser and replace the previous one. Why someone from MSE couldn't have posted that back in Jan of this year , in this thread to inform us?

I know, see my previous post, the Call Checker page which I kept as a bookmark, now auto forwards via browser to the page above.
But having updated this in Jan somehow no one at MSE could have told us on this, in the original OFFICIAL thread.

Just reflects where MSE has gone under its current ownership.
There is no profit for them in advertising the alternatives to these now defunct (because they're not the cheapest) services. Such pages don't get any priority as it has no direct business benefit.
