Not 100% certain but checking 2 orange stores in the metro centre while inlaw visiting at chistmas..they said we had to pay £99 PLUS now a £20 top up not 10

did get 20% off though with NHS staff discount.....all we needed to show were ID badges and recent payslips

Yes, bought mine from MetroCentre between Christmas & New Year had to pay £99 plus the £20. Asked about student discount (have a NUS card) and firstly was told yes but then salesperson went away to check and came back and said that they don't do it any more!

Orrrr.. just do what I did. There's a £30 off £60 spend code on HUKD for very.co.uk

You have to open an a credit account but you gets the phone for £73 delivered
  • Can't get the very site to work and argos don't stock the phone now. Any other suggestions?
  • I have had an Orange pay as you go phone for a while and recently decided to go on pay monthly and get an android phone (I already own android tablet and love android applications).
I was considering HTC Desire but decided to go for Orange San Francisco instead.
I asked Orange for my PAC code few days ago and today when it arrived I phoned them up to find out what they can offer me.

In the end I agreed for Orange San Francisco on 18 months contract which includes 200 mins, free texts, 250 MB free data for £15 per month.
200 mins is more than I need and 250 MB data is a bit too little but I will be mostly using WIFI for internet access.

However I am wondering if it was smart to commit to 18 months for a relatively unexpensive phone such as Orange San Francisco? perhaps it would be better to buy it from Argos and sign a sim car deal instead?

On the other hand, this is a better deal compared to the online deals that I see available on Mobile Phone Checker.

What is the main difference between OSF and HTC Desire except camera?

I am considering to call them and cancel.

That's a very poor deal. My son bought an OSF for £110 (inc. £10 Orange PAYG airtime), unlocked it and uses a GiffGaff PAYG sim which offers 250 minutes any network (usually 150 minutes, short term offer), unlimited texts and *unlimited* internet. 250Mb internet on an Android device can be burned up very easily if you're not careful. Furthermore, the phone can be bought for less now, I think Play.com are doing it for ~£100 inclusive of the £10 Orange airtime.

On paper your deal will cost you £270 whereas it would cost £280 if you were to buy GiffGaff credit @ £10PM for the 18 months and pay £100 for the phone (and discard the £10 inc. Orange credit).

Ok, so you're saving £10 but you are stuck in an 18 month contract with what is a very low data allowance.

Regarding the Desire, I own a Desire and can safely say that it does 'feel' much better than my sons OSF.That said, his can do virtually everything mine can and it's less than a third of the price. Had I known that the OSF would be released so soon after I signed up for a 24 month contract for the Desire I wouldn't have done it. I don't regret getting the Desire, it's a great phone but given the option of being able to get onto a PAYG tariff on an Android phone that does what my Desire can do I'd never have got the Desire.

Don't go for that deal. You can get a lot better mate.

Orange aren't offering much to payg customers wanting to go to contract at the moment.

I've been trying to upgrade for a while and got no where with them. You can only (they say) get point's if your on contract so you're starting from a poor position to start with. . .
