Help ! Advice needed.
I have a teen thats desperate for a smart phone but don't know whats good ?
I've seen a deal on a Orange San Francisco for £79.99 + £10.00 top up @ OneStopPhoneshop.
I popped in to a local Orange shop today to see what they had and they offered me a Free Orange San Francisco phone in black or white on Dolphin 120 tariff ? They said its an end of month half term offer so will no loger be available in a day or two.
Its on contract over 24 months for £10.02 a month and includes 50 or 75 mins talk (cant remember which but it was around 50-75mins), unlimited texts and 250mb data. Making the phone £240.80 over 2yrs ?
If i took this PAYG deal @ OneStopPhoneshop for £79.99, where do i stand on £10 top ups ? Does the PAYG top up include data ?
Are any of these good value or is there a better deal out there on smart phones and tariffs ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated !
Thank you for your time.0 -
Dont buy it on contract just buy it PAYG.You can unlock it for free and use any network. If you get good signal with O2 i would use GiffGaff they use the O2 network http://giffgaff.com for only £10 a month you get 250 mins unlimited text and data.0

Orange PAYG customer service is the worst ever!!! I bought a San Fransisco a month ago and I wish I hadn't bothered.
Supposed to get £30 for number transfer.. was told 2 days ago it had been credited but guess what..it hasn't. I could not understand a word the last guy spoke and he had to put someone else on who couldn't answer my question anyway. So, I have e mailed......13,9 and 3 days ago and still no answer. Just tried to phone helpline but have no credit!! It's a shambles. With the the free internet, there is no way of knowing when your free download limit ends. I downloaded some apps using my wireless at home but was still charged as" some apps connect without you knowing" I was told..yeah like when I'm on a bus! Yesterday had 80p credit minus 25p call to Orange..balance? £0.00..hows that work then? Be very, very carefull my friend.0 -
Since T-mobile rejected messed up and left a load of credit searches on my file, i'm looking at getting an Orange San Francisco.
It's £99 on the orange website, though going through Quidco should get me £12 off
Can anyone tell me what the best deal is out there at the moment?
Thanks
Thursday 80p credit then 25p call to Orange which leaves a balance of???? £0.00 Explain that!! Oh, yes, I e mailed them 13 days ago.Still no reply.:mad::(0 -
I'm personally very pleased with the Orange San Francisco.
There are flaws, it can be a bit touchy with WiFi and the Orange data costs are the poorest value of any network.
I also made the fatal mistake of activating the T-Mobile roaming. Unfortunately this is 2G not 3G roaming so if there was a strong T-Mobile 2G signal data was very slow.
I've now used up £20 of Orange credit (since the start of November mostly by buying £5 250MB data bundles) and I'm on Vodafone this month.
I will be going to T-Mobile for their £20 6 month data deal shortly.
I use the device as a mobile web device and don't tend to make many calls.
If I made lots of calls I might stick with Vodafone as they have 500MB which lasts a month with a £10 top up.
I'm sure my son would love to have one although he is generally happy with his iPod Touch at the moment (only 11 though).
It is probably the best smart phone in terms of price against performance at the moment and not a disaster if it gets lost.
I don't trust myself not to loose a contract phone and I certainly wouldn't take out a contract for my son.0 -

@jamesbimbi - I didn't get my £10 credit when I ported back to Orange - I emailed the Orange rep on here and he added it on
If I buy from onestopphoneshop can I have the £10 topup applied to my existing Orange Sim/number or does it have to be to a new one?0 -

That would be the ZTE Skate (stupid name) but how much is it going to cost when it hits these shores.
